Piccolo Statue in Diamond Previews

Post by Artificial Human #887 » Wed Jun 25, 2008 3:45 pm

So, I was just browsing through Diamond Previews when I came across a Piccolo statue. I don't recall ever seeing it before, and there's no distributor lister, but here's the solicitation for it:

Dragonball Z: Piccolo Statue

Piccolo, the Namekian exile, came to Earth and found himself in constant conflict with Son Goku. As time passed, their struggle softened, and in time Piccolo became the mentor to Son Goku's son, Son Gohan, but Piccolo never abandoned his dreams of world conquest. Now, the popular anti-hero of Dragonball Z, the long-running anime, can be yours with this statue that's stands nearly 12" tall! Piccolo stands atop a base, hia cape billowing behind him, his head encircled by his trademark turban. This statue is limited to 555 pieces worldwide. Painted and ready to display. Scheduled to ship in September 2008.

Statue....... $249.99

The history is a little fudged and the description is a little run-onish, but the sculpt is pretty cool. I'm at work, so I can scan the picture right now. I'll do it when I get home, unless someone else does it first. Hoorah statues!

I love his facial expression, and the fact they paid enough attention to give him four fingers.

But yeah, way too expensive.

That is pretty awesome. I wouldn't want to buy it, but I'd love it as a gift. It'd go well with my awesome Goku figure :P

I can't help but notice that it looks like his fly is wide open. Nice figurine, but kind of spendy for $250.

From this angle it kind of makes his nose look a little funny, kind of like he doesn't have one, they must have felt bad for Kuririn. :)

Come to think of it, is he supposed to have four digits on each hand, or has it always been that way?

I was just wondering the same thing, since I never really paid attention, and sure enough I peeked in DBZ VizBig 1 (it was conveniently displayed on the counter next to me), and he has four fingers.

Kid Nemo Company is selling the figure for $199.99:

It's a bit of an improvement. :?

In the manga he's always drawn with 3 fingers and a thumb, but in the anime he was given a more human-like appearance with an additional finger.

That's a much better deal than Diamond. I'll still get it from them, since my employee discount makes it only $175. But I'm a statue collector (over 300 resin pieces in my apartment, it's a madhouse), so I'm willing to fork over the cash for a DBZ statue... considering they're few and far between.
