New Sand Land project announced
I'm guessing we're free to discuss it here considering its proximity to Dragon Ball?
It's by Bandai Namco so it's presumably a video game?
YouTube teaser.

Re: New Sand Land project announced
There are a couple of things to consider here. For one, I wonder if this will be the much rumored web anime project that has supposedly in development for a while. It is possible that because of this being a Toriyama themed project, people just assumed Dragon Ball. Also, I doubt that it would be JUST a video game because Sand Land needs more going on than just a manga to sell the video game. Sand Land isn't all that well known.Yuji wrote: Thu Dec 08, 2022 6:26 am I'm guessing we're free to discuss it here considering its proximity to Dragon Ball?

There must be an anime tied to this one way or another.
Re: New Sand Land project announced
I suppose it could be the web anime, but Sand Land strikes me as an odd choice. It wasn't particularly popular. Why not Kajika or Cowa? Why not Neko Majin, Jaco or Katsura Akira to tie with Dragon Ball. Are we nearing an anniversary for Sand Land?Majin Man 101 wrote: Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:16 amThere are a couple of things to consider here. Kinda hoping we get a compilation of several adaptations of all of Toriyama's one volume series. They could all feasibly be inserted into the Dragon World if they wanted to.

It's not an anime, it's a game, Bandai Namco posted the trailer and they make games not anime. They're using the same "project" name place holder they used with Kakarot. I imagine it will be an RPG, but we'll have to wait for gameplay footage to find out.
Re: New Sand Land project announced
Didn't they fund the remake of Plan to eradicate the super sayans? They might be funding something animated here.UpFromTheSkies wrote: Thu Dec 08, 2022 9:03 am It's not an anime, it's a game, Bandai Namco posted the trailer and they make games not anime. They made the original Playdia game and the remake was exclusively released with a Dragon Ball Z game, but they don't make stand alone anime, so if there is any Sand Land animation it will be part of a video game.sangofe wrote: Thu Dec 08, 2022 12:31 pmDidn't they fund the remake of Plan to eradicate the super sayans? Re: New Sand Land project announced
Bandai pays Toei Animation to produce animation for promotional purposes, which includes the Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans special and Super Dragon Ball Heroes. There is also some crossover in terms of producers or a story writer but the production is otherwise handled by staff from Toei Animation (Ueda Yoshihiro, Yamamuro Tadayoshi).

Seems like animanga? Whatever it is, I'm excited at this point. Love Sand Land.

Because that's what the teaser shows, it's an animated version of this panel.
Re: New Sand Land project announced
It could very well be that it's how the cutscenes in the game are. It doesn't has to be an animanga. Besides, animangas are screen shots from anime made into manga, not this.batistabus wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 2:19 amBecause that's what the teaser shows, it's an animated version of this panel.

Er, right. I didn't mean animanga. I meant animated manga...but I forgot what it's called. Action manga? I'm not sure if it has a name. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEKO2I98WVQsangofe wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 7:44 amIt could very well be that it's how the cutscenes in the game are. For Jaco, that just ended up being a promo for a VOMIC - the rest of the story wasn't animated like that. But that's what it made me think of.
But yeah, it's probably more likely to be a game.

Re: New Sand Land project announced
There's a possibility they could make an anime to promote the game, or that it has animated cut scenes, but don't get your hopes up. I would love a Sand Land anime, though, or even better, a Toriyama anthology series where they animate all of his one shots.
Re: New Sand Land project announced
Surprised nobody has posted about this yet.
- Bullet point:
- there might be an anime coming from Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga and Anima Production Studio. And it might be produced in 3D/CGI.
- a video game seems very likely.

You might be thinking of a Vomic, here is an example (Magu-Chan).batistabus wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 12:35 pmEr, right. I didn't mean animanga. I meant animated manga...but I forgot what it's called. Action manga? I'm not sure if it has a name.

Cipher did some translating, it's a "new visual adaptation". Looks like Super Hero-style CG animation. As much as Toriyama got sick of drawing that tank, it was probably a good idea to not have the animators constantly draw it either lol.

Aah, so they're using the same studio as the JoJo Openings and Batman Ninja. That'll be interesting. I don't expect the series to reference Dragon Ball now.

'Pretty cool if true. I still have my Shonen Jumps with Sand Land in it? I wonder how accurate the translations of the US Shonen Jump are.sangofe wrote: Wed Dec 14, 2022 4:55 am - there might be an anime coming from Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga and Anima Production Studio. Sand Land "will be animated in 2023"

New trailer:

Looks pretty good! Maybe not as polished as Super Hero, but still good.

I don’t understand only devout Toriyama fans read this series why waste resources on this which could’ve going to Super. I heard the story was typical early 2000s Toriyama crap post Dragonball.
