I stopped following this manga so now I'm really confused.

Why is there another tournament? I remember things went sour with Buu, Gast, and the tournament was suspended and they were all returned to their own universes, then there was that Magic Uub chapter, and now I see they are having another tourney? and some of them don't know each other, even though they were there for the other tourney? were their memories wiped or something? I'm so confused, sorry

Or is this like a prequel to the tournament?

The specials are generally prequels to the main story. This tournament is probably just a normal tournament. Looks like maybe the universe where Goku was evil (and currently absent), and Krillin becomes the Turtle Hermit.

I am not looking forward to another special if this is from U13. It hasn't been rage inducing, but the plot jumps up its own ass to make things work out for the Saiyans, especially Kakarot. ridiculous. Hoping it's U9's tournament.

Wasn’t Vegeta’s “new form” just SS3? He lied and said he found something better just incase he had to surprise someone later, which worked against Cell.

So at this point Goku and Vegeta are legit dead even. Now it’s just about who can outsmart the other.

My understanding was he told Cell he would use his new form but Ss3 instead to catch Cell off Guard because his new form is for Goku only.
