What if Mr.Sabat died?
If Mr.Sabat died what would they do seeing as he did a lot of voices for Dragonball Z? Would they recast his characters with new voices or would they find someone to mimic his voice? I suppose since the only real new DBZ material we are getting at the moment are the video games they probably could use sound clips from the previous games instead of hiring a new voice actor. Just so you know this is a serious question and I'm not trying to be funny or wishing anything upon Sabat. So what do you think would be their most likely action?

I believe, as with the Japanese cast, that they'd simply recast them. And since it's the way the industry works here, they'd most likely be mimics. I don't think any of the DBZ characters are particularly difficult to mimic, but they tried to do that with Season 3, and it came out pretty bad. So I'd be inclined to hope for a new interpretation, but I believe they would be mimics.
And if Piccolo ever needed to be replaced, I hope they'd get McNeil.

I hope I don't pull a Terry Klassen here but is Mr.McNeil still doing voice work? I don't believe I've heard him in any recently dubbed anime.djkalteraphine wrote: And if Piccolo ever needed to be replaced, I hope they'd get McNeil.

He still does quite a fair amount of voice work, yeah.

I think it's pronounced Sa-bat. Like sad without the D and bat.Or maybe like bot. But I've heard him say Sa-Bat and not Sa-Bot, so I'm guessing that it's Sabat.disturbed001 wrote:I've always wanted to know how to pronounce his name. Is is Sabat or Sabat?

Sorry if it came off that way, I mean no harm to Mr.Sabat.Captain Awesome wrote:Is anyone else getting a weird homicidal vibe from this thread?
Doesn't she smoke too? DBZ just won't be the same without Nozawa that's for sure.SonGokuGT wrote:I´d be more worried about Masako Nozawa, she´s in her 70´s now...

Yeah, that's been on my mind since....since I found out that she was so old. And I doubt that many people can mimic her voice.Chuquita wrote:I'm worried more for Ms. Nozawa's health than Mr. Sabat's (she's WAY older than he is). Mr. Sabat seems like he's keeping himself in decent shape.

I'd like to think that if Sabat ever did leave, he wouldn't be replaced. Rather, his old lines be reused. I say that for the entire English and Japanese casts. By now theres easily more than enough dialog recorded (what with the series, movies and games)by both the English and Japanese casts that recasting should never be an issue.
Unfortunately, when Tenshinhans seiyu(is that spelled right?) died he was recast so it doesn't look like that will ever happen.

The same thing goes for Jinzo'ningen #13's seiyu. He was replaced after he died as well.Kid Trunks wrote:I'd like to think that if Sabat ever did leave, he wouldn't be replaced. Was anything used with #13 other than movie 7 anyway?Pain wrote:The same thing goes for Jinzo'ningen #13's seiyu.
