If I remember it right, Goku early was Saiyan/Namek arc, Goku mid was Freeza/Androids arc and Goku end was Buu arc with all the SSJs up to 3. But, that changed in Raging Blast with just one Goku
And of course, mid had the Yadrat clothes, End Goku had Saiyan armor and EOZ gi... otherwise, the early had Kanji symbol variants and barefoot option, Mid had damaged and Kanji symbol options and clear gi (with the sash variants) and End had the beforementioned and the clear gi without symbols.

Goku (early) has the same moveset he used against Vegeta, though you could argue it carried through mid Namek arc as the spirit bomb is pretty much the same until the Slug movie. I think it’s great the way he is.

Goku (mid) is odd because he has a move he used against Piccolo in the 23th tournament, so this was probably an error. But he is pretty much the version that fought Freeza and No. 19. His Super Saiyan’s ultimate move is terrible.

Goku (end) mixes his fights against Cell and Boo. It’s arguably the worst given the lack of creativity in most of its moveset. Kamehameha is a standard but his other supers and ultimates other than spirit bomb, warp kamehameha and dragon fist needed more thought.

In my opinion, it would be best to keep Goku as the same but unlocking different skills and costumes the more you progress in the game.

That would be the biggest gap between an announcement and an update a DB game has ever had, right? over 6 months. And then 9 if TGS doesn't have anything and they make us wait all the way until Jump Fest.

You are right though, as far as I know, there are no dragonball announcements at gamescom. We will see in the coming days if there are any surprises.

Yeah it's kinda confusing when we discuss it out of the game and I haven't played BT3 for ages literally, so thanks for clarifications guys.
Still, I prefer having these 3 Gokus marking 3 main villain arcs albeit bit intermixed to Xenoverse roster being basically NPC characters for each story episode and versus mode being just there as an afterthought.
Also, RB's approach, where you can have Goku SSJ3 in all his era costumes was fun and I have nothing against the characters being the best of versions with forms and movesets... I wonder, if Z and Super will be separated as two Gokus, two Vegetas with SSJ and SSJ God being separate linear transformation trees. As much as understand fans wanting the most customizable options to have an almost endless ways to influence their gameplay, I prefer set in stone presets myself, but won't mind if they do.
The way Budokai series did it was super simple and not overcomplicated through that capsule system, so maybe something like that please

I'd part of DB with two Goku's: kid, and teenage goku.
DBZ with several. Saiyan saya (base and kaioken), Freeza saga (would have base, kaioken and ssj 1), Android and Cell saga (would have base, kaioken, ssj 1 and ssj 2), Boo saga (would have base, kaioken, all super saiyan forms), and 23rd tournament (for the alternate costume) saga. Why? Because Goku evolves so much in strength.
DBGT: GT kid ssj oozaru, and ssj 4 goku.
Super: I must be a bad fan, but I am not sure of all of Goku's forms, lol. But I'd have base, ss god, ssj blue, ssj blue with kaioken, and ultra instinct, I think.

I would like to see what-if characters aswell. Expecially ss4 version of Gohan, Bardock ecc.
A super dragon ball heroes DLS would be great for me. They could add very cool characters (Demigra, LB SS4, ozotto etc).

I don't like how the Tenkaichi trilogy pentalogy, or a series with 5 installments, separates characters into different eras. I'll agree that kid, adult and GT Goku need to be separated characters, but I envision this for Goku. All characters have every outfit available, and forms can be equipped with groups up to 5. SSJ Grade 1 (Namek hair) and SSJ Grade 4 (Cell arc hair) are separate forms. Here's all the outfits that adult Goku should have:

The "movie gi" refers to the uniform Goku wears in DB Super: Broly and DB Super: Super Hero.

The reason the BT games separated characters like Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo into different eras was because all the characters were limited to just two supers and an ultimate, so that was the only way they could think of to make sure more of their moves from the series were represented. The Raging Blast games for the most part did away with that by having customizable movesets.

I dunno if such a thing was possible during the 7th and early 8th generation of consoles (PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and maybe the Wii) but moveset, aura, accessory and transformation customization should've been a thing in Tenkaichi 2 at least. As in, being able to equip whatever technique, aura color, accessory or transformation you want. Within reason, of course. Namekians can't use Saiyan or human forms, Saiyans can't turn into giants, and there just aren't enough models to go around so that everyone can use Potential Unleashed. Buuut...maybe everyone would be able to have Kaioken?

Ooh! Maybe you could be able to have 2 Aura Charge slots. And instead of having 12 different aura items of varying colors and effects, you'd have only one singular Aura Charge, which will allow you to change the color and effect of your aura and stack an aura onto it. You could have multiple aura effects, and a toggleable lightning setting and sparkle setting, which you can change the color of.

Available Auras:

Normal (Kaioken, SSJ1 - 4, Potential Unleashed, Power Unleashed, Beerus, Hit, Goku Black, Zamasu)
Godly (SS God and maybe Orange Piccolo)
Super Godly (SS Blue and SS Blue Evolution)
Divine (SS Rose)
Ultra Instinct (UI Omen/UI/Jiren)
Legendary (SSJ C-Type, FPSSJ)
Electric (Nappa's electric aura)
Beast (Beast Gohan)

You can stack auras on top of one another to recreate the SS Blue Kaioken look. And the colors can be changed with a color picker. There are 2 parts of an aura - the inside (for example, the white part inside of the SS Blue aura) and the outside. (the blue part of the SS Blue aura) Both of these can be colored, and any custom aura that you create with this can be named, saved as a separate item, and equipped onto any character, even transformed ones.
