Why has Toriyama never used "Characters finds a way to hide a DB from the Radar" again?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

My rewatching of Dragon Ball via La Tele Paraguay reminded me that Pilaf found a way to disable the Dragon Radar's ability to find a Dragon Ball. I know its pointless at this point but Toriyama had NEVER been shy about reusing plots.

Probably because finding the dragon balls stopped being a focal point after the Red Ribbon saga. Gathering the dragon balls became a means to an end rather than the center of the story.
