What if Dragon Ball gets a timeline reset?

Post by Hellspawn28 » Thu Aug 31, 2023 10:11 pm

How would you guys feel if Dragon Ball had its timeline been completely reset/rebooted. Jojo and Mortal Kombat has done it before. It would be interesting to see what Dragon Ball could do with a complete new timeline. I personally don't see it happening because Dragon Ball probably doesn't need to have a reset, but nothing is impossible.

It could be interesting, or totally pointless. It all depends on the ambition, on how far they are willing to go to change things around. It won't matter in the slightest to press the "reset button", yet still do the very same things.

A "reboot" like Mortal Kombat would require one or few characters still remembering what was before. Thankfully we have Kaioshin of Time for that. Since Dragon Ball is not a linear story/franchise, a "hard reboot" could simply mean we are now following a new story set in another Universe. Just like it is in Ben 10 and in other Western stories.

I'd very much like to know beforehand what is their intention with a "reboot" before deciding anything.

Reboots work best with franchises that were not very successful originally on their first go around but have the potential to be with some tweaks or simply through re-introduction to a new generation via a shiny new revamp.

When you're as successful as Dragon Ball is and has been though the only direction you can really go with a reboot is down so answering the "why" first becomes even more pertinent to the discussion.
