"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
At least we're assured to get a new story arc after Super Hero retelling ends in like 2 months (can't see Cell Max fight lasting longer than 3 chapters)

People can decide for themselves if they want to move on.

As someone who has posted over 16,000 times since she was a fifteen year old girl I think we should all absolutely move on and do other things with our time. What's the worse that could happen, a surprise new cartoon series announcement while you're busy off enjoying your life in other ways? The horror.Kazuya Mishima wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 11:54 amSays the person who has been posted over 10,000 times in the past 10+ years.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I'm not really hungry for more Dragon Ball content, but I do wanna see the anime only reaction to stuff like Moro, that's basically my skin in the game :V
I'm not sure if the Dragon Ball Room feuds explain everything, like how was a movie able to come out? Especially one so distinct from the previous movies. At the same time, it's really strange how much DBS has fallen off considering its popularity. Maybe it really is as simple as Toei or whoever feeling a new anime is pointless to get toys to sell? I admit I don't really know the breakdown of the finances and revenue so I could be way off, at times like this I wish forums would allow you to easily find the more informative posts in a huge thread
Edit: On the flip side, the Super manga adapting Super Hero does seem to indicate that something funky is going on. Could very well be a confluence of stuff.

I mean, them offing the anime would be alright if DBS actually ended, but it didn't. And unless Bandai finally decides to put the manga arcs into their video games, we're missing out on potential content. As well as any interesting filler they would have put in-between that.
Honestly, I take it as either Toyotaro just being weird and adapting the movie because he really likes it, or releasing that while they decide what to do with the series next (How to go about Black Frieza, whether or not they want to make a timeskip, post-EoZ, etc)Tamagon wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 1:12 pm Edit: On the flip side, the Super manga adapting Super Hero does seem to indicate that something funky is going on. Move on?
I'll move on from wanting more DB when I'm dead
Hell even if tried to move on I'm 100% I could not, I play Dokkan and Legends every day, I watch DB content creators, I follow the manga, DB is always in my mind, and I always gonna be wanting new fresh content to watch/discuss/play, If you can and want to move on, more power to you, but I cant or want to do it myself.

Baggie_Saiyan who follows the merch closely says DB merch has been declining for sometime now. I remember in the Bandai Fiscal Reports it’s number 4 overall in the toy group when it used to be 2nd right under Gunpla. The Ichiban Kuji are hitting less Gamecenters. Even one recent Goku UI figurine was one of the lowest selling DB figures ever I believe.Tamagon wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 1:12 pm I'm not sure if the Dragon Ball Room feuds explain everything, like how was a movie able to come out? That's because if you've bought one Goku with silver hair you've bought them all.ObnoxiousNamek wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 5:22 pmBaggie_Saiyan who follows the merch closely says DB merch has been declining for sometime now. Sales will dry up, they'll bring something else out in time to sell more junk again.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Agreed with Zephyr, nothing indicates that we won't get another break after the Super Hero saga in the manga concludes, not only that but it could also be a even longer break than the one we got between the Granolla Saga end and the Super Hero prequel.
Also I got curious, why is everyone saying that the current story will end in November? Based on what is left from the film to be adapted I personally just can't see the arc going beyond the october chapter, with Chapter 98 MAYBE already having a preview for the next arc in case they don't have any plan of taking another break.

I simply wouldn't want to imagine my life without Dragon Ball, thank you Akira Toriyama (1955-2024), you are now immortal ~☆
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
The most likely scenario is September’s chapter being about the group fight vs. Cell Max ending with Gamma #2 sacrifice and October being Giant Piccolo vs. Cell Max ending with Gohan’s transformation. November would then wrap up everything leading to the next arc.Rafa Fast wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 8:35 pm

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
People move on by reasons.
A: Dragon Ball is childish. At a given point, watching people solve issues by punching feel really ridiculous. You doesn't empathize anymore.
B: Dragon Ball is fantasy. Is staged in an empty world that look the large field of possibility of youth. When you grow up, you feel it a bit void and lacking immersion. You'll want a world more similar to your own.
C: You burn out. I burned out of JoJo, I burned out of Saint Seiya, I burned out of a lot of stuff. Once I was oe of the greatest Queen collector, now I rabidly collect Sparks stuff.
D: DB graphic is a great tool of immagination, and the simple lines help drawn your own doujinshi panels. But after a while the simplicistic style isn't enough to express whatever. Characters end to look too similar, poses are limited, expressions are less and less convincing. Toriyama style can turn annoying.
E: You found something better. It sound like swearing, but DB is not the apex of creatitivy.
F: You change your life in such a way you don't have so much mental energy or time to cultivate a DB obsession.
And the last point:
G: Someone finally lend you other stuff and you become aware that locking yourself in a single immagination byproduct is limiting your own immagination.
You don't need to move on entirely, but probably isn't healthy to breath DB only 24/7.

Guys, guys the new series is officially announced here is proof

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Hugo Boss that's just exactly what I mean, unless they plan to make a preview in chapter 98, I can see 99 being the transiction chapter to the next arc, then the new saga starts in chapter 100, if I had to say it now, I personally think 99 could be a retelling of End of Z, or idk, there's the possibility they still make a new arc before EoZ, Black Freeza's still around, and the whole idea behind EoZ is the World being in peace, the only thing I really believe 100% is that Super Hero won't make it past chapter 98.
What I'm most seeing is people concerned about Akio's creative decisions and if his absence would lead to less recycled stuff
But I almost saw no one caring about what could happen to the franchise outside of its own universe, and that's what I think people should be concerned about, and it's here where I return to the manga break
What if the Super Hero adaptation is only being made to not let the manga dead for 7 months straight? What if the retelling is taking so long to finish just to guarantee fewer months for the duration of a possible new break before the start of the next arc?
I don't know, the only I can be sure is thay there's definitely more going on in the backstage and that we don't know what could happen, and again, I hope I'm wrong about all of these.

Also, I don't think anyone should move on from dragon ball unless they want to, being obsessed with the franchise is one thing, now just following it to this day is another and it's completely normal, it's an entertainment franchise and that's what entertainment franchises are for, can dragon ball be childish? It can, but what differs DB from a children's series is that DB is made for all audiences, it isn't for nothing that so many adults like the series, what about the DB content creators? Unless they get tired of producing DB content, I'm just watching them doing what they want and like to do, if I don't want to move on from dragon ball it's because it's currently one of the only 3 or 2 franchises that still makes me hyped to see something new coming out of it., there's no secret to it.
Edit:
I don't think that's gonna happen, I think it's a possibility, the reason? Let's be honest, we just don't know what the current scenario with Akio and Shuiesha could really lead tosangofe wrote: Thu Sep 07, 2023 1:10 pm I'm curious as to why you think there will be a longer break.
