Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
Don't know how to react right now... Animation looks pretty good, but why take such a lousy concept from GT (revert the main character into a child) to all cast?
Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.
YES!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS TRUE!!!!!!!!! THE MAGIC BEGINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or the "Daima", whatever.
I don't see the trailer uploaded anywhere, but it already sounds highly intriguing: different from the leaks, but in a pretty interesting way. I don't think anyone was expecting Vegeta and Bulma to be turned into kids too.
EDIT: Wait, the ENTIRE CAST is kids now?!?! An... unconventional choice, but we'll see where it goes. At least it's not the Moro and Granolah arcs again.

Why is it a lousy concept? You can do a lot with any concept so long as you ground it in real human feelings. Perhaps the use of de-aging is meant to speak to the pain of aging?
Turning the cast into children just reeks of not having any ideas left.
Visually it looks decent but I can't imagine a concept like this lasts more than two dozen episodes

Frankly, out of all the details that were part of the Dragon Ball Magic "leak", I did not expect the "being turned into a child" aspect to actually be true, especially not applied to (presumably) most of the characters. I don't particularly like the idea in theory, but I'm cautiously optimistic that the series will turn out good.

I mean... I don't see a series with a core concept like turning the cast into children lasting more than a dozen or so episodes before the charm wears off and edges dangerously close to GT 2.0 territory, but I'll hold my reservation until more information about how long the series will last and who's involved creatively is dropped next year.
As of now, for me, Dragon Ball Daima is... a thing that will happen in 2024.

On Ajay's stream he mentioned that Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi is the character designer and doing them in a modern Toriyama style, but Chief Animation Supervisor Kubota Chikashi will be in charge of the first half of Episode #1 and making the characters look like they did in Dragon Ball Z while still adults. I think that the modern style designs are a bit too detailed IMO—particularly in the hair highlights—but I guess we'll see how it works in a full episode.
Komaki Aya is also one of the series directors. Yashima Yoshitaka is also a series director, which is a weird turn of events since Yashima is usually a solo key animator and storyboard artist. I wonder if Yashima was given the role because they did a ton of storyboards?
Wait, on the English side of things, who will voice the younger characters besides Colleen Clinkenbeard as Goku? Monica Rial sounded sure she'd be back and she could pull off young kid/teen just fine as we've seen, but what about characters like Vegeta and Krillin? Will they do what Kai and Kakarot did and give Vegeta a younger voice actor (PLEASE DO, IT WOULD MAKE FOR A FUN DYNAMIC WITH COLLEENS VOICE) or will Chris Sabat do the voice like in Broly and for Vegeta Jr in GT?
Also, I think the villain will be a Makaioshin AKA Dark Supreme Kai, which I have been wanting for a long time. Other than that, this concept is not going to go over well with half the fandom, but I'm still cautiously excited.
And I'm REALLY happy it's not just the Goku and Shin show from the looks of it (even if I'd be okay with that). Making a character like Vegeta and the whole cast into kids again will make this stand out from just another GT.
I also imagine Sean Schemmel somewhere cursing the world that he most likely won't voice Goku in this series.
