Yes this dub normally came in jewel cases but I have tried as hard as possible to find any more info about these box sets which has led me down a rabbit hole.

My copies of the box sets each have a sticker saying PERAKUAN B along side saying Dragon Ball Z & are addressed to to Speedy Video.
which after doing some digging I found on the website of the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs (https://www.moha.gov.my/index.php/en/pe ... san-filem ) PERAKUAN B is used to refer to a copy of censorship certificate which is to be put on films meant to be screened & distributed to the public which leads me to believe them to be legit because of the stickers.

However I later found these 2 listings for the box sets being sold in Singapore without the sticker so it's also possibly not legit.

Ultimately I have resorted to contacting the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs about them via their email & await a response from them.


In conclusion we will have to play the waiting game.

I have the version of the Trunks: Prelude to Terror DVD with Z Warriors Prepare and Goku's Ordeal on it, don't be fooled by the screenshot of the back of the box, whoever I bought this from must've put the DVD in the wrong case. I have a screenshot of the menu attached as proof that this is the real deal. Price is 8 dollars, PM me for Paypal details if you're interested. BTW looks like Imgur finally sorted itself out.

I really did not want it to come to this, but I'm going to play my hand, "shoot my shot" as the kids say to try to right this personal wrong for myself.

If anyone is in possession of a Vegeta Saga II Starter Box from the Ultimate Uncut Special Edition releases, I'd be very interested to deal for it.

Long story short, a little while ago, I sold off all of the Dragon Ball single DVDs I owned, this being of the 3 original series. The 9 UUSE DVDs were part of this equation.

Anyway, I sell them off and did not include the toys that came with them for whatever reason.

While I do regret the sale as a whole, I'm not looking to gather it all back. That's way to much too much money to sink in with this current 'collectors' climate.

However, I figure I should at least get back what I had of the UUSE DVDs, including the boxes. Just so the toys aren't lonely if nothing else. I just can't stand inconsistency like that!

The crazy thing is, I only need the box. The DVDs themselves are much more common somehow.

So, again. If you got one and helping a fellow fan out will be more fulfilling to you than making bank, shoot me a message.


While I'm at it, I might as well just take care of any Dragon Ball DVD-related desires right here and now.

I'm also seeking out any of the Frieza Saga single DVDs, but the condition is, it must those of which that have the updated FUNimation logo on them.

In 2005, for whatever conceivable reason, FUNimation put out updated versions of ONLY the Frieza Saga DVDs (I say 'Saga' and not 'Arc' in this case since this is strictly in terms of how FUNimation organized them) in which all of the content, media-wise was updated. New, straight-to-the-point menus (unlike the crappy CGI menus the original ones had) featuring Faulconer Productions BGM (also unlike before), newer menus, use of better DVD branching technology, and the eyecatches are featured in these updated editions, where they had been omitted before.

It's super bizarre because they only updated one saga, they didn't update the Captain Ginyu DVDs, which were in much more dire need of it, quite frankly, and other than the logo, there's no way to tell the original releases and the updated versions apart at all, apart from one tiny detail.

I would have shown pictures of the original, but the only difference is that on original copies, there is no logo on the front cover and the back and spine have the 1994 FUNimation logo, whereas here the front, spine, and back all have the 2005 logo. And that is by all accounts the only superficial difference. The year on the copyright is the same and they all still contain the promotional consideration from Irwin Toy. Even though Irwin wasn't making Dragon Ball Z toys at all at this point, but whatever.
