DB/DBZ on Laserdisc?
Have any of the DB or DBZ episodes ever been released on laserdisc?
From what I understand, the episodes were released on laserdisc in different volumes but are currently very rare to find. Is this true?
So far, I've only been able to find most of the movies

There are also Hong Kong releases of DBGT, but only a few of them are known to exist

Re: DB/DBZ on Laserdisc?
I don't believe there were any LD releases of DB/Z/GT episode wise in Japan or elsewhere, and as far as the former goes the only things available Dragon Ball related on home video was the original three DB films, thirteen DBZ films and the 10th anniversary film on VHS and Laserdisc primarily. The first ever release of any episodes in Japan was the first Z Dragon Box in March 2003.
DB collection related goals as of now:
1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)
2.) Collect rest of manga
3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

Re: DB/DBZ on Laserdisc?
For OG Dragon Ball and Z, none of the TV episodes have been released on laserdisc other than the Japanese laserdisc for Tree of Might, which contained a karaoke video of Cha-La Head Cha-La that used footage from Z episode 1 as a bonus feature.
For GT, yes there was some releases by Aiko Animation but only in Hong Kong.

Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Wait, it looks like i was mistaken. The OG DB movies were only released on VHS (and 8mm film) back in the day and not actually on Laserdisc like the DBZ movies and 10th anniversary film.roseofpain wrote: Tue Aug 09, 2022 7:30 pmSo the first three DB films were released on vhs and laserdisc?SuperSaiyaManZ94 wrote: Tue Aug 09, 2022 12:54 pm I don't believe there were any LD releases of DB/Z/GT episode wise in Japan or elsewhere, and as far as the former goes the only things available Dragon Ball related on home video was the original three DB films, thirteen DBZ films and the 10th anniversary film on VHS and Laserdisc primarily.

Re: DB/DBZ on Laserdisc?
First three DBZ movies were released in the US on laserdisc (with the Pioneer English dub).

For DB Movie 01, it seems that there were two different VHS releasesSuperSaiyaManZ94 wrote: Tue Aug 09, 2022 7:47 pmWait, it looks like i was mistaken. Hmm, for some reason the images are broken or not working.roseofpain wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 10:15 pmFor DB Movie 01, it seems that there were two different VHS releasesSuperSaiyaManZ94 wrote: Tue Aug 09, 2022 7:47 pmWait, it looks like i was mistaken. DB Movies 02 and 03 also had two different releases

Since they're both distributed by Toei Video, they must be re-releases.

Re: Toei VHS releases: Which one is which?
Does anyone know between the image comparisons of the VHS releases shown in this thread, which one would the be the letterboxed tape and which one would be the true 4:3 version?
My instincts tell me the original releases are letterboxed and the the re-releases from 1996-1997 are the 4:3 issues, but you never know for sure with something like this...

Re: Toei VHS releases: Which one is which?
it's exactly the opposite, if i'm correctly remembering, first edition were full frame and only until z movie 2, then it switch to widescreen letterbox, right after, everything were letterboxedGokuDaimao wrote: Fri Dec 22, 2023 12:20 pm Does anyone know between the image comparisons of the VHS releases shown in this thread, which one would the be the letterboxed tape and which one would be the true 4:3 version?
