During Vegeta's final charge on Gas, Gas appears to cover up in fear.
But then Gas opens his eyes and sees Vegeta's charge has stopped completely. All the momentum is gone.
For this to happen this means Vegeta isn't flying at Gas with the speed of a missile, because he'd hit Gas anyway whether he lost UE or not. So Vegeta has to be going at leisurely Sunday drive speeds. Around 10 mph or less. For the charge to just stop completely with Vegeta probably stumbling a few steps, and holding a pose in front of Gas. And then being frozen in that pose. I say this because he wasnt that far from Gas when he started the charge. This is the distance we're talking about:
Which Vegeta doesn't quite make:
So for him to not even make it to Gas it has to be a very slow charge. There cant be a lot of acceleration because theres almost no room to decelerate back to a dead stop before he reaches Gas.
So Gas cowering from that is really pathetic on his part. This moment doesn't show that UE Vegeta gets stronger from damage cos he got beat up worse the more damage he took. It shows that Gas is one of the most cowardly characters in DB history.
There was no reason for Gas to fear UE Vegeta.

The point is, for Vegeta to make Gas flinch [Put up defenses] as the strongest, when earlier he was laughing at him shows Vegeta was getting stronger. Nothing to do with Gas being afraid or the speed which Vegeta was coming. Vegeta was losing stamina in his pursuit towards him.

Yep. And another reason why its crazy when people criticize UE. If it wasn't for UE, both Goku and Vegeta would be dead. It was the only thing that allowed them to fight Gas long enough for Goku to get whatever powerup he got. If both of them had silver hair MUI that would have been the end of the series.Miracles wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 7:21 pm The point is, for Vegeta to make Gas flinch [Put up defenses] as the strongest, when earlier he was laughing at him shows Vegeta was getting stronger. Plus, it's a good old case of suspension of disbelief. Vegeta could have crossed the distance at whatever speed, but the story needed him to stop cold on his tracks just before hitting Gas.
Science really does not apply in those stories.

Re: There was no reason for Gas to fear UE Vegeta.
It's a bit of an exaggeration to call it science. I mean what scenario are you imagining?
- He flies at Gas super fast but cant make 30 ft because he stops himself?
Stoping himself is the opposite of what he's trying to do.
- He flies at Gas super fast but is repelled by a forcefield?
- Then how is he standing there with no power left with his arm stretched out? A forcefield would have pushed him back if it was able to repel or slow down Ultra Ego. Or if it was a solid shield there'd be some impact as he hit it.
- He flies at Gas super fast and Vegeta just stops and loses all speed for no reason whatsoever?
I't's not a reader's role to read the writer's mind to guess his intent. What's shown is Vegeta is too weak and slow to cross 30 ft. And that Gas is cowering because he was freaked out by Vegeta's zombie like behaviour. Which the story establishes he was before.
No plothole, no need to invoke a breakdown in logic.
