Akira Toriyama and his dragon ball
How much money it would take to make Mr. Toriyama continue the dragon ball?
Do you think $50,000 per volume is enough?

It's a gag manga! It never was nor was it meant to be scientifically sound or accurate.

He said this himself. "I have no intention on continuing Dragonball." That means no. Unless he makes a special or something. Like Cross Epoch, even though that was a crossover.

Yeah, didn't Vegetto EX say something like that in the latest podcast?Captain Awesome wrote:I personally don't think there's anywhere for the Dragonball manga to go.
I would love to see Toriyama teaming up with Toei and making a few character specials, for people like Muten Roshi and Yamcha, who's lives pre- Dragonball are a bit of a mystery.

I think it would make Mr.Toriyama happy if they kept on making Dragonball specials and movies, he gets to see his story expand, he gets to draw some characters and put his 2 cents in on the story, I don't know if this is true or not but I think movies may have been his favorite part about the animation of Dragonball. I just couldn't see what would be better for him other then some casual drawing on one or two characters and jotting down some side notes, he also loved the Bardock special so I think maybe if they continued on making specials they could try to cater to Toriyama's tastes a little bit. I'm fairly sure it isn't drawing Dragonball Mr.Toriyama was sick of it was the deadlines.

Possible continuation of dragon ball manga:Captain Awesome wrote:I personally don't think there's anywhere for the Dragonball manga to go.
Wicked creatures in the devil realm.
Who sealed old-Kaiohshin in the Z-sword?
In Toriyama's point of view (not toei or gt), what are the negative effects of over using the dragon ball?
I think its still possible for Toriyama to continue the dragon ball if you pay him $100,000 dollar per volume. One volume of dragon ball manga per 2-3 months. They shouldn't let an iconic manga die as the year passes by.

Are you going to be the one who sends him the $100,000 per volume?goodguy777 wrote:I think its still possible for Toriyama to continue the dragon ball if you pay him $100,000 dollar per volume.
It's over, deal with it. My philosophy is love the show (manga) for what it is, not what it could have been, could be, should have been, etc.

We can see that Toriyama had lost interest by the Boo arc, and it suffered for it.
From my experience the vast majority of people that think Toriyama should have continued the series, only really have a knowledge of the "Z" portion, they only have a basic knowledge of DB, and aren't really interested in anything that doesn't have Super Saiya-jins in it.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Which is a sad, but true, notion about a lot of DBZ fans. I think Dragon Ball has some of the best parts of the metaseries in it, and it's certainly my favorite of the trilogy. If they'd give it a shot, I'm sure they'd dig it. Maybe not, though.Captain Awesome wrote:From my experience the vast majority of people that think Toriyama should have continued the series, only really have a knowledge of the "Z" portion, they only have a basic knowledge of DB, and aren't really interested in anything that doesn't have Super Saiya-jins in it.
I would personally be satisfied if Toryama simply wrote out the story lines for some new manga. Once he gives us the stories than we can either imagine the stories in our head or we can wait for the hundreds of fan manga and doujinshi that will pop up based on it.
In the end, simply writing down his ideas for how the series would be continued would not be that hard of a task, and he could probably get offered quite a bit to do it.

I'm not forcing Akira Toriyama to make another continuation of dragon ball because if someone can make his interest back through $100,000 per volume, why not? Its a matter of business conversation and importance of iconic works. Lets admit, dragon ball manga's rating didn't suffer unlike dragon ball gt.Captain Awesome wrote:

I have bought the Season One, Two and Three from the remastered uncut DVD's and thinking about buying Season Four and Five. I already have the original bilingual funimation dvd's from the Garlic Jr. Saga till the end of the series however, the 4:3 ones. So I wonder. Are these new releases worth buying although I already have the other dvd's from garlic jr. till kid buu or should I stop now that I have all the episodes on dvd. I didn't yet have the frieza and captain ginyu sagas and off course saiyan and namek weren't released uncut before. Is the quality increase of the dvd sets season four and five great enough to warrant and new purchase? Or should I stick to the dvd's I have?
