We can't directly link the site for legal reasons. Since you've apparently seen Kai recut, it's the same place you got that.Falter wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 3:53 am Hey I am really sorry if this has been answered but I tried to scroll though and couldn't see,
Massive fan of the Kai recut, is Boo done and where is a link for it?
I had been so looking forward to the Boo saga and hadn't been on here for ages, took a brief look and I was like,
WHERE WHERE WHERE WHERE WHERE?????
And again, it is tremendous what you have done

Heya, new to the website, apologies for the dumb question, but where can I watch this exactly? I'm not really seeing any links, or is it something you DM to people?

Watching episode two of DBZ Kai Recut. This looks both cut and uncut. The blood from Piccolo was red in DBZ. But there was lots of blood when Goku dies. Did you upscale Dragon Boxes to make cut certain scenes uncut?

Not the original poster but I do know the answer to this. Freeza Saga onward is upscaled Dragon Box to undo the censorship while the Saiyan Saga uses the Level Sets.sangofe wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2024 2:39 am Watching episode two of DBZ Kai Recut. I watched the episode with Ten Shin Han in the Saiyan saga and Vegeta vs Zarbon. None of them were uncut... Is there a list of what's made uncut?Aspiring-Creator wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:00 amNot the original poster but I do know the answer to this. Mainly it's instances of gore or blood and vulgar gestures that Kai scrubbed away. Basically if it was present in the manga, it was kept. Certain changes that maybe were across the board for the original and Kai? Kept because changing that would require a level of effort that kind of would fundamentally shift what the project's about.sangofe wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:52 amI watched the episode with Ten Shin Han in the Saiyan saga and Vegeta vs Zarbon. Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]
The instances I mentioned that weren't made uncut were things Kai changed. I guess the anime made lots of scenes more bloody than the manga?Aspiring-Creator wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2024 11:00 amMainly it's instances of gore or blood and vulgar gestures that Kai scrubbed away. Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]
Quite a few times. It's actually weird because in some ways the manga is more brutal like when Gohan kills the Cell Juniors. In the manga, you see the gore completely unobscured while in the anime the screen goes bluish grey and the carnage is obscured by smoke. Then in quite a few instances? The anime has more cases of blood gushing, occasionally more vulgar gestures, that sort of thing which funnily enough when Kai cut that stuff down. At times it was censorship but at other times it really just brought it down to what was there in the manga.sangofe wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2024 11:05 amThe instances I mentioned that weren't made uncut were things Kai changed. Gotta say that Milkman's dedication to this community is legendary. He deserves a long break after this. Probably ages and ages away but I do hope his Dragon Ball Z recut project eventually comes out too. Footage from the Dragon Box plus the original broadcast audio in high quality would be incredible. There's another pretty good recut of the OG DBZ with original broadcast audio, but the commercial break eye catches and ALL the credit sequences are not included
Ya'll probably know what I'ma talking about

Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]
Hey so kind of off-topic but I noticed that the "other" DBZ Recut project with the broadcast audio that is up on a piracy website has a different source used than DBZ Kai recut. I know Milkman used the DBox for his edits which are really sharp and look nice, but the DBZ recut's source has really really warm and nice colors, really saturated and looks really nice. It's not as sharp as the Dbox footage like it's taken from a high-quality tape source but I really dig how the colors look. Does anyone know what source it's from?
Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]
You have it backwards. Milkman's Kai Recut uses footage from Kai for the Saiyan to Cell arcs (with some Dragon Box footage spliced in where Kai was censored), then the 30th Anniversary footage for the Majin Boo arc (he originally planned to use Dragon Box footage for Boo, but decided against it in favour of keeping the whole project HD). The DBZ Recut you're talking about iirc just uses un-corrected Dbox footageGorillaCentral wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2024 12:51 am Hey so kind of off-topic but I noticed that the "other" DBZ Recut project with the broadcast audio that is up on a piracy website has a different source used than DBZ Kai recut. Ohhhhh okay Lmao. Weirdly I prefer the unaltered DBox footage then... even if it's not as sharp as the other sources the colors have such a nice analog warmth to them. The Broadcast audio adds a lot too it too. Hopefully we get that DBZ recut from milkman in the future

Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]
I've been watching through Kai Recut with my little brother, and we hit Episode 39 where Goku gets out of the healing chamber. Weird nitpick, but I feel that the audio mixing on the insert song is a little low. It's only a slight issue, but I feel the volume needs to be bumped up a little bit. This is specifically a eng dub track issue. The Japanese track is fine. While on the subject of minor complaints, I want to ask if you're considering cleaning up any more of the redraws? The scenes you have fixed are vast improvements over the originals, but I understand if you don't have the time for something like that.
Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]

It seems like MilkMan plans to update DB Recut to SoM or AB Groupe release soon!

Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]
I don't know if he or anyone else would be interested in this, since it's changing the original work, but I've made a few corrections in my own personal Dragon Ball Recut, including the color of Piccolo's blood. These examples are with the pumped-up saturation in my version, but I'd be able to provide him with corrected shots with the original saturation from SoM if he wanted that.
