Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout - The Worst Fighting Game by Matt McMuscles (Takahata101 guest apperance as Cell VA)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyFoWftIDXg Played it back in 2000, when it was literally only PS One game you could get in Poland :) And yes, it was terrible game, especially compared to Super Famicom DBZ fighting games, but it was still Dragon Ball, so i kept playing it. And even tried to unlock Uub (at least it didn't require "Finish game 15x times as Super Trunks, 20x times as Piccolo etc.) :)

The soundtrack was the only good thing that stand out from it.

The buttons' response was a mess, there are times where they work and others were they don't.

And the voice acting was really off in the original Japanese version (Yeah, it wasn't really the best way to be introduced to the Japanese cast) and the English dub was mediocre (Some were good though like Lex Lang as Gohan and J. David Cook as Cell)
And even tried to unlock Uub (at least it didn't require "Finish game 15x times as Super Trunks, 20x times as Piccolo etc.) :)
LMAO those unlocking character rumors were hilariously stupid and worse of all, my brother and I believed them back when we first played the game 15 years ago.

The most stupid was Super Baby's, according to this , you had to:
Truco 35:
Pasate el juego en hard 9 veces con 9 jugadores distintos sin perder ninguna vez luego ve al menu de seleccion de personajes y estara super baby.

Cheat 35:
Finish the game in hard 9 times with 9 different characters without losing and then go to the character selection menu and Super Baby will be there.
Something that becomes pointless as soon as you find out that the only way to actually unlock Super Baby is using a gameshark.

I genuinely think the Final Bout hate is overdone (because it's "le popular opinion").
It's a fun classic game, and I had great times with it back in the day, and still have fun replaying it now. It being the first 3D DB game will always be in the history books too. It wasn't perfect, far from it, but neither are the likes of Xenoverse 2, even despite being made decades later (where characters don't even move their mouths post fight, something that's been done correctly all the way back in Final Bout)

Obviously I'm a fan of the GT focus of this game, which was a breath of fresh air for characters to pick. Super Vegetto was a nice addition too, by this point I think you could only play as him in Hyper Dimension and Final Bout.

And generally speaking, Taiketsu is a way worse fighting game too. And absolutely repulsive to the eyes no less.

What, how? The Japanese voices were great in Final Bout, especially SS4 Goku's way of calm speaking. You barely hear his signature style in other games, there they paid much attention to the latest form. The characters had nice lines overall, pre and post match.

Maybe it's just me but I didn't feel the acting as good as the proper GT anime series or later games.

Also, the grunts and reacts sounded weird compared to the latter. The ones that Horikawa and Nozawa recorded for this game were not particularly my favourite.

I thought it was the cultural shock when I first played it as a kid but when I re-played it some years ago, I felt the Japanese cast weren't at their best day when recording for this game.

Although considering how rushed this game was, the recording sessions may not have been as demanding as the anime or later games' ones.

Extremely slow game, that's what I recall the most, SS4 Goku taking ages to walk towards the opponent. But it looked good, and some combos (impossible to perform, at least for me) were fantastic. Super Vegito had vanishing, kicks-only 15-hit combos that were so nice to see, even if he was doing it to your player.

Without cheatcodes, the base game was meh.

The opening and the soundtrack were incredible, I wish DBS used some of those tracks, or maybe other games.

Final Bout is a game that I have a lot of nostalgia for because it was a DB game on a console that I own and it had characters that didn't show up in the dub yet. The idea of playing such a game felt like a novetly to me. It was rare to find and I had to play an import of it back in the day before it got re-release in 2004. It's a terrible game with bad controls and medicore graphics (MK4 and Tekken 3 look better than FB did).

I still consider Taiketsu to be the worst DB game ever and I paid $5 for it (I still want my money back). That game had ugly graphics and terrible gameplay. At least, I can some level of fun with UB22 and FB.

The soundtrack is great and the characters look good for their time. Nice roster as well.
As a 3D version of Butoden tough, it's a bit on the slow side. I'd think that if hackers were able to speed it up, it could be a very fun game.

Yes! Remake Final Bout with good control reaction and fast paced fighting! With an emulated upscale it'd be quite fun, I think.
