Gotta say, this will be a new experience. The DLC is also apparently split into Part 1 and Part 2, which means that Daima might get more serious in it's second half, while the beginning is about easygoing adventures (which I guess is a norm for most adventure stories out there

)
They most likely don't want to spoil the whole series in one go, but hopefully it won't take too long in between both releases.

I guess they'll keep milking kakarot like XenoVerse 2. I wish we'd get kakarot 2 with updated graphics but least possible effort vs profit makes sense since people keep buying..

I just wish the stuff from the DLC at least carried towards the main game, which is now so barren in comparison (still no ground battles there for example).

We still need the rest of og DB saga before we get anything else. Honestly I think we got lucky with the 23rd tournament arc because it was easier to tweek the current models a bit then anything else. The Kid Goku model being the sole exception. Also my American butt really wants a LSS Broly (original) dlc.
I know it isn't canon but a DBZ game without og Broly feels weird. To me personally.

And also a game literally called KAKAROT no less, like who are they trying to fool?

DBZ Kakarot is just a bad title lol. But yeah the lack of og Broly not screaming "Kakarot " is a big missed chance lol.
Nobody has tried to mod the game right? Like add content to it?

Meh. He wasn't canon in the first place & now he definitely isn't since he got rebooted into Super. It's no big loss that he isn't there.

Well, they haven't added anybody from the first 13 DBZ movies, it'd be weird to have just movie 8 represented.
As for MODs, yes, people have modded the hell outta the game. Added all kinds of transformations and characters .

Well they added Mira, Towa, Vomi, and the Ginyu force girl so why not add the "MM Green Ranger Tommy" of the DB series, aka Og Broly? I understand why they did not. I'm just saying it's weird to have a modern dbz game without og Broly. For me anyway.

Kakarot mainly adapts the story of the manga while also taking some liberties. Super is a sequel to the manga's timeline, so they also adapted the first 2 arcs/last 2 Dragon Ball Z movies. This is why they also fused the History of Trunks special (also the chapter it's based on) to Trunks' return to his timeline after the defeat of Cell in the 3rd DLC. The only exception to this rule is them adapting the Bardock special rather than Minus Bardock (which, I don't blame them & I actually prefer because fuck Minus) because not only is OG Bardock more popular, but there's also more material to work with when adapting it for the game.
I hate to tell you (lying), but the only way Broly is getting into the game is if they adapt the Super movie (which is just the plot of original movie, only with the stupid bits removed & replaced with actually
good things). The game's more story-focused & CC2 likes to focus on stuff they can do good fanservice with. Not much there with the OG Broly, sad to say. He sucks, ngl. Just screams "KAKAROT" & as a baby, he cried because Goku was crying next to him in the nursery & the Saiyans watching over them made fun of him for it (which he remembers for some reason).

Movie 8 Broly has plenty of memorable quotes. It's only since Movie 10 when he got brain damaged, which is understandable seeing how he still survived with no food and air for so many years. DBS Broly is the one that only ever roars in all of the games he's currently in.

Wrong actually. There is the exploration of the entire False Planet Vegeta they could add, which no game has done before.

Dude, be honest here. No one remembers OG Broly for anything other than being a hulk who just screams "Kakarot" over & over. Even though he has SOME other lines in the first movie, as soon as he transforms & even beforehand, the majority of his lines are screaming "Kakarot."

That would be nothing but filler. I genuinely can't see them doing much with it. There are no enemies they can fight (I don't really count the people enslaving the Samoshians because there aren't a lot of them), there's literally no other established life on the planet besides the plants & probably lower lifeforms like bugs, & whatnot. Literally, all the movie does with the planet is have ruins off in the distance that the group explores & find out that Paragus took it over from the Shamoshians. Legit, there is so much more potential to mine from using Super Broly than OG.

I still have no idea why they made DLCs for the two Toriyama movies first, but then that never went anywhere. I was so convinced these two alongside the Trunks one were building up to a Future Trunks arc, but since then they have been adding stories that seem so completely random. It's weird they added the God forms without really leading up to anything. And I also have no idea what they were going for with that weird EoZ battle (no godly forms but Vegeta usinf the improved SS2 from Super? Vegeta wearing his damn armor once again and asking Goku what he already realized on the Kid Buu battle...?)
Speaking about Z Broly tho, wasn't he found in some game files or am I misremembering? Maybe at some point they did plan to cover his original movie but then they changed their mind.

Yeah, both references to Broli and Paikuhan were found in the files for the base game so likely cut content. I think they just moved to DLC being completely separate from the main game.

If I were to guess, at first they were probably stuck to adapting stuff from DBZ. They adapted those 4 arcs & took inspiration from some of the filler episodes, as well as other stuff they either created or used that were already there, for the side content. They also threw in Towa & Mira from Xenoverse to have cross promotion with their last few RPGs for the franchise before Kakarot. For the DLCs from the first round, this tracks as I guess Battle of Gods & Resurrection F were part of the licensing deal under the Z banner from Toei & Shueisha. They also adapted the History of Trunks special as the last thing for it, also taking influence from the Future Trunks arc of Super's manga.
The second round of DLCs had the Bardock special adapted because it's still under the Z banner. Then we got the 23rd World Tournament, which probably required licensing the original DB series from Toei to adapt & I bet they only did that one because they could reuse a TON of assets from the base game for it & Bardock required them make a shit ton of new assets for it & redress Goku's character model for Bardock, as well as shrink Vegeta's for his kid model. All that was really new for that one was kid Goku & King Piccolo. The rest of the character models are either reused from the base game, or redressed to match the designs from the manga & anime. Thankfully, they actually fixed Goku's head for it because his head & hair in the base game are really off-model from the anime & manga for no reason, but they didn't replace the one from the base game with it, unfortunately. Then the End of Z DLC came & I feel like they genuinely didn't think Bandai was gonna renew it for another round of DLCs, so they thought to end it there because they thought they were done.
The first round, they did because it was a new game & Bandai Namco wanted to make some more money off it & CC2 wanted to give the players some good story content. The second was because Bandai Namco gave them money to port the game to 9th gen consoles & they wanted to make some money back on their investment. The third? We still don't know what they're cooking up. I imagine they licensed Super for use because for Super, they have 3 anime arcs & 3 movies to adapt if they wanted to.

Been replaying this in PS5, and it is not as great as I remember it.
Too many (beautififul) cutscenes, too much dialogue, not much fighting which becomes repetitive soon enough. It could've been much more straightforward, a lot of "go to Kame House" for then be sent to Capsule Corp, and thjen return to Kame House just to pass a message or bring a flower.
It is still a wonderful game, the clothes laying around when Cell takes over Ginger Town, the corpses on Namek, but I don't think it has aged as well as I expected.

Considering Daima is now trending it was a matter of time. But I was hoping for GT.

That was never gonna happen, sorry to break it to you. I may have said it here a while ago, but GT wasn't gonna be adapted because: It's still the lowest-rated DB series, it's not really canon to anything because Super & Daima kick it out of any kind of continuity, & Super & Daima are the latest & more popular options to go with.
Personally, I was expecting the rest of Super, but maybe Daima was the more tantalizing option so they could capitalize on it. Maybe it was cheaper to license as well due to it both being new & only around 20 episodes. Who knows really?
