Dr. Uiro, Dr. Willow, Dr. W?

The character's (usual) name is Ｄｒ.ウィロー Dokutā Uirō, and the name "Uirō" comes from a candy called "uirō" (ういろう). "Dr. Uiro" is used here on Kanzenshuu presumably because of this.

However, an alternate version of Dr. Uiro from the Super Dragon Ball Heroes series was called Ｄｒ.ダブリュー Dokutā Daburyū ("Dr. W"). I think the "W" comes from the name "Willow," which has been used in Japanese media such as this. Is/was Shueisha/Toei/etc. trying to tell us that "Willow" is what they're going with? Also, considering the pun source of ウィロー Uirō, should "Uiro" continue to be used instead of "Willow," with "Dr. W" being regarded as a random or unrelated pseudonym that Uiro / the real-world namer(s) chose?

Thanks for the info on where the name came from though, it's quite interesting. Guess that's another one to adopt based on its etymology.
This is probably the most forgotten villain of all the Z movies bar none though, wasn't expecting a resurgence.

So this isn't exactly easy to see, and after looking this up I'm not even sure it's fully consistent, but... There's a difference in how you spell the name of the candy and the character. It's the size of the "i" kana. "ういろう" (this is the candy, and there's a full-size "i" kana) and "ウィロー" (this is the character, and there's a small "i" kana). I'm not a Japanese expert by any means, but the way I understand it is that when there's a small kana like that, it acts as a modifier for the previous kana. So in the candy name, the "u" and the following "i" are independent kana, but in the character name, the "u" and following small "i" are supposed to be treated as one entity, a melted-together "ui" sound, a "wi" sound. That's probably how the W ended up appearing, I think.

In my opinion, "Dr. Willow" places the emphasis at the wrong place just like "Dr. Wheelo." The best transliteration would put emphasis on the "roh" (or "loh") part of the name. Maybe "Dr. Wiroh" or something like that. Honestly, just leave it as is, people know who you mean.
