Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced

Transformations do not instant victory make. Gokuu can still struggle through fights designed to be a struggle. It's fiction, you can do whatever.

Clearly the opponent's level can be adjusted to what the story requires. I just didn't want transformations.

This looks good. This animation, the late Toriyama style, a short series produced as a whole.

It looks like we're jumping right off from the Buu arc and the repercussions of the King of the Demon Realm being killed. The Demon World and it's new cast of characters look vibrant and exciting.

I'm going to guess that everyone being chibi-fied means they're less powerful overall, but maintain their knowledge and abilities including transformation, but SSJ Goku for instance still won't be on the level of adult SSJ Goku.

A couple of those characters look very similar to angels, but I'm guessing they're unrelated to the angels because I don't think we're touching Super stuff at all here really.

The song makes me feel good already.

I wonder how Toei or Crunchyroll will handle the international distribution of DB Daima outside Japan. Maybe it'll get simulcast and/or simuldubbed internationally immediately after the series premieres in Japan or it may be distributed internationally (plus maybe with a new English dub from Crunchyroll) some time later in the month after the series's Japanese premiere date.

This also looks to be aimed at a very young audience, even more so than Super and the original DB. While the animation is good, the feeling of the show looks pretty bad. That theme song...ugh...it ain't Cha-la Head Cha la, that's for sure.

The new character looks cool, I think I will enjoy Dragon Ball Daima.

I'm actually hyped for this now- In stark contrast to my "ugh, it's gonna be a long runner and more of the same" reaction when Super was announced.

More to the point: It's an OG Dragon Ball style adventure story that draws from one of my favorite arcs of the original series for its premise- With gorgeous animation to boot. Conceptually, it looks like it has a lot of the stuff I like about Dragon Ball in it: Adventure, mystical trappings, and comedy. So far it looks like my kind of Dragon Ball story.

And I don't mind Super Saiyan being here. It being used for chibi Goku does give off more of those GT vibes, but this is Dragon Ball Daima, not GT, so I'm putting GT out of my mind going into this. Plus Super Saiyan is an iconic staple of the franchise so it's not surprising that it's here (Though I don't think fans who've decided to hate Daima will be swayed by this).

Agreed. Kid Goku in Dragon Ball looked way better, Toriyama's new bobble-head artstyle is not doing it for me.

Do we need the final fight stereotype?

Not a fan of Goku going Super Saiyan because I don't want a rehash of GT.

I genuinely have absolutely no idea why people would expect this series to break such staple series conventions like super saiyan transformations and final fights.

This is still Dragon Ball after all, expecting otherwise is setting yourself up for disappointment for no real reason.

I'm glad Goku's using SS2. SS2 got some love in Super but in GT we only saw it for a frame or two. I'm glad it seems he's already using it even if it's just for one fight.

If this is post Boo, pre BoG, I hope they use the yellow forms to their fullest before they're eventually outdone by the God forms. SS2 and SS3 especially need their time to shine.

True in GT the only time we saw SSJ2 was when Goku transformed into it to turn SSJ3. Other than that we never SSJ2 fight at all.
SSJ2 was forgotten in GT.

Healing items and technique didn't appear, we didn't see these:

- KibitoKai healing
- Dende healing
- Boo healing
- Oob healing (he has all of Boo ability and can communicate with Boo)
- No senzu beans


As for when Daima takes place, I guess we have to wait to find out. Although it is good to see SSJ form in the fight.

It's a few shots from a series that is going to run for six months, there's plenty of time to use Super Saiyan Blue, especially considering that Super used both forms numerous times.

SSJ3 and SSJ4 Kid Goku would look cool.

If this is in-between the Boo arc and BoG, I hope this opens up the doors for other midquels, like for example one between DB and Z. Because let's face it, DB will continue without Toriyama.
