Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
What mess? How would ignoring a popular part of the franchise help them at all?

Ah Yes, Toei is erasing their own anime series that they worked on for over 3 years. Because that makes sense lol.supershonen wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:31 am to me it looks like they realized what a mess DB super has created and are now trying to not touch that stuff at all. They are clicking the undo button furiously, IMO.
Never mind how the initial reveal trailer of Daima acknowledged all the Super animated content.
Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

The movies did well worldwide and the manga sold well enough to keep going after the tv series ended. The tv ratings weren't great, like 5 percent viewership average in Japan, but traditional tv viewing has been on the decline for nearly a decade now.supershonen wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:31 am to me it looks like they realized what a mess DB super has created and are now trying to not touch that stuff at all. At this point we're all only speculating what Daima's relationship to Super is. Goku is at the very least wearing his Super gi he started wearing in Resurrection F. Kibito and Shin are separate and people still are debating if that places Daima after they split in Super or if the wish split them (which would be weird as the wish seems more like a chibication spell than a proper time rewinding spell) or third option it's just ignoring they were ever fused to begin with.
We also just only recently saw in the most recent trailer that Chibi Goku still has his Super Saiyan powers, something there was mild speculation if he would even have that ability. So we don't 100 percent know he won't bust out Super Saiyan God or Ultra Instinct.

I think the production of DB Super seems to be the mess because Toei rushed it, which is why the animation in certain episodes of the Beerus and Resurrection Freeza arcs of DB Super looks horrible.JulieYBM wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:53 am What mess? The super anime was compromised at best, and unwatchable at worst, but the movies were incredible. There's no way they're going to "undo" that.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
The quality of the television series is pretty much unimportant to whether or not it gets referenced in productions that happen after it. At worst they'll just create new animation for flashbacks to those events. The series was still popular.

DBS also had problems with its writing, sometimes it looked like the writers of DBS never read Toriyama Dragon Ball manga or watched the anime of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.TechExpert2021 wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2024 12:31 pmsupershonen wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:31 am to me it looks like they realized what a mess DB super has created and are now trying to not touch that stuff at all. Regarding the "new" form for Vegeta that was confirmed a while ago:
This was revealed before this series was confirmed to take before Beerus, so the possibility of the first Anime appearance of Ultra Ego was removed. This left:
1. First "canon" appearance of his SS3
2. First "canon" appearance of his SS4 (though most likely with a new name, thus removing plot holes; Ala not using it against Beerus.
3. A brand new form entirely (like SS4, there would need to be a reason for it to have not been used again during BoG/Super)
I'm assuming it's SS3, and Vegeta uses this 1st time transformation as a reasoning to never use it again, thus not using it against Beerus.
For the other forms, if done, perhaps it's a temporary form that is lost, or maybe even one that is only accessible in the Demon Realm.
Hmm...
What do you think is most likely? Is your most likely pick the one you prefer?

Giving Vegeta SS3 sounds like the most pointless fanservicey thing ever. That form was hardly relevant even before DBS. I know it has its fans, but the only time it’s actually managed to accomplish anything meaningful was in Movie 13. Even if youre someone who thinks Vegeta “deserves” to surpass Goku, DBS has thrown you plenty of bones with stuff like Ultra Ego and that stinger in Super Hero.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
Personally, I'm hoping they just explain that Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 are foldeded into Super Saiyan so that fights don't necessarily need to have more than one transformation. I know that it appears that Super Saiyan 2 Gokuu is in the trailer, though, but I'm hoping it's really just the one form so that the fights only use one transformation near the end up until a new form is introduced.
That or the Super Saiyan forms are given their own specific abilities, like Nagamine intended for Dragon Ball Super: Broli.
Well, whatever. We'll probably have some fun in the structure of the fights, anyway.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
It kinda seemed like after Battle of Gods and Resurrection F that Full Power Super Saiyan was going to be the default non-divine form going forward. (Which I would be fine with personally) With the whole "your body absorbed the Godly power, and now you can use it on your own" stuff from the climax of BOG.JulieYBM wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2024 9:47 pm Personally, I'm hoping they just explain that Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 are foldeded into Super Saiyan so that fights don't necessarily need to have more than one transformation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I vaguely remember an interview posted here with one of the people who worked on BOG saying that that's what they were thinking would be the case going forward. Obviously it didn't pan out that way since Super brought them out for the occasional fan service moments.
We need a Steve Simmons' re-translation of the manga.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
I don't really remember, but yeah, one of the few things I liked about Fukkatsu no F was Gokuu only needing one transformation throughout the whole film. It makes the structure a bit more clean.

Morikubo Shoutarou: Gomaa
Degesu: Enoki Junya
Dr. Arinsu: Hikasa Youko
Ending Theme: "NAKAMA" by Zedd feat. Ai
Very interesting to see that Zedd is also composing the Ending theme song. I wonder if this is just going to be a one-off thing or if Zedd will be doing more than just two songs?
Also, Morikubo! I remember him best as Kadaj from Final Fantasy VII and also Young Zangetsu from BLEACH. Morikubo has such a sexy voice, I kind of hope he gets to show that off for Gomaa!

I’m pretty optimistic about Daima after the recent trailer. New characters look like they will be great additions to the DB world, and things like the Demon Realm and Makaioshins finally get incorporated into the story. Still not sure how I feel about the Chibi stuff, but other than that I am fully on board and can’t wait to see Toriyama’s final work.

So, not only the opening but the ending theme will be performed by someone else other than Hiroki Takahashi. Once again, the supposed leakers turned out to be wrong.JulieYBM wrote: Mon Sep 09, 2024 10:18 pm Ending Theme: "NAKAMA" by Zedd feat. Ai

Looking at who will be performing the ending theme the first time, I went "An AI singer is going to perform the song instead of an actual Japanese singer?!" But I then knew I was wrong.

I was hoping it would be sung by Lord Zedd himself.

According to Geekdom (take that with a grain of salt) Daima may not be his final work after all.MajinMan wrote: Mon Sep 09, 2024 11:47 pm I’m pretty optimistic about Daima after the recent trailer.
