The only thing we know is that he or she has not appeared in a previous Sparking/Tenkaichi Budokai game.

The last trailer could be Super or a mix with OG and GT.
Your first mistake was assuming we're getting base game GT characters.
We'll see.

See you here next month.

I sure hope we get more OG Dragonball characters than that... or at least a DLC in the future to fill in a bit if we get only that.

I'm a big OG dragonball fan and how cool would it be to have a really good representation of it? Idk how many people think the same as me but it would be amazing...

There are so many cool and unique OG dragonball characters that would fit in well in the game, apart from the 6 you mentioned.. I can name at least around 20 more

Android 8
Arale
Bandages Mummy
Devil man
Chi-Chi
Pilaf Machine
Giran
Grandpa Gohan
Nam
Taopaipai machine
Hero
Kid Krillin
King Chappa
Mr.Popo

I'd knock off Janemba and Pikkon and add Third Form Frost and Kibitokai. Also need Whinnie the Pooh some where.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has just 26 spots on the roster left to fill before the Dragon Ball fighting game comes out in October. These open slots remain after the new Buu Saga trailer just confirmed several more characters with Dragon Ball fans expecting several more trailers like that one to release in the next month or so, but leading up to the release, players have speculated as to whether or not Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero would pull the classic fighting game trick of having secret, unlockable characters. For those who've wondered if that'd be the case, we finally have an answer.

That answer comes from Jun Furutani himself, the man who's been featured in most of the Sparking! Zero interviews and showcases to talk more about the game. The Sparking! Zero producer conducted an in-house Bandai Namco recently where he was asked about some of the unrevealed characters and if there was anything more he could say about them. Furutani obviously didn't confirm any characters in the interview, but in a roundabout way, he answered everyone's questions about possible secret fighters.

"Part of the thrill of working on this title has been having an incredible roster and knowing how eager every fan is to see who they can play," he said. "We can promise one thing: fans will know every playable character at launch before the game comes out. Please stay tuned for our official announcement to come!"

Also,

I *THINK* he basically de-confirmed Tao.

I'd rather have a beefy GT DLC later than an half-assed coverage just with the Super Saiyan 4 characters now. Cuz I want a GT kid Goku and GT Vegeta that can transform instead of just having them separate (and I doubt DLC forms will be retroactively added to base game characters as in-game transformations, they'll most likely be kept separate)

Agreed. I think the best thing they could do would be to put 25 Super character in order to have an accurate RoF/U6/ToP episode saga, then after the movie / Daima DLC, push out 60 characters for Z movies and 50 more for GT or DB.

Good point because we could get characters like Luud, Ledgic and all the Shenrons

Yeah, I could see GT being like a 4-pack season of DLC.

Pack 1 (GT Heroes):
  • GT Goku
  • SS GT Goku
  • SS3 GT Goku
  • SS4 GT Goku
  • GT Trunks
  • SS GT Trunks
  • GT Pan
  • GT Uub
  • Majuub
Pack 2 (Black Star Dragon Ball Saga):
  • Cardinal Mutchy-Mutchy
  • Machine Mutant Mutchy
  • Luud
  • Ledgic
  • Super Cannon Sigma
  • General Rilldo
  • Hyper-Mega Rilldo
  • Meta-Rilldo
Pack 3 (Baby Saga):
  • GT Vegeta
  • SS GT Vegeta
  • SS4 GT Vegeta
  • GT Goten
  • SS GT Goten
  • Baby Vegeta
  • Super Baby
  • Super Baby 2
  • Super Baby Oozaru
Pack 4 (Super 17/Shadow Dragon Saga):
  • Super 17
  • Oceanus Shenron
  • Nuova Shenron
  • Eis Shenron
  • Syn Shenron
  • Omega Shenron
  • SS4 Gogeta
  • Goku Jr. (Super Saiyan is his ultimate rather than a playable transformation)
  • Vegeta Jr. (Super Saiyan is his ultimate rather than a playable transformation)

Well, we could still get a couple of GT characters, just to have a few until the DLC comes out. Vegeta Baby, SS4 Goku and then get the big juicy GT DLC. Probably won't happen but it would appease the beasts.

I hope Champa makes the game. Yakon won't be playable but he'll be Babidi's attack, I think, even though he wasn't shown. I know they said "if they aren't in the trailer they aren't in the game", but Shin is in the game although not playable nor in the trailer. Babidi doesn't have such a large moveset to leave Yakon out.

After watching so many gameplay vids, I was wondering how difficult/unpractical(gamewise) it would be to have certain characters with certain perks? like Buu, his healthbar should work differently than others, you beat him and he gets up again with a full healthbar, unless you ultimate ki-blast him away when his healthbar is low, but no melee attack should do the trick.
Immortal Zamasu is another one I'd like to be similar to Buu.

^ In Sparking Meteor I've currently got all the Buu forms equipped with an item that gradually restores their health, representing their regeneration. They could implement something like that.

On a separate note, the reason I'm confident Z movie characters won't be in the base game (but could still be DLC), is the absence of things like Videl's Saiyaman form and the Gohan+Goten Kamehameha.
Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.

I'm sure they will, in old tenkaichi games u had a lot of these capsules you could add to characters.

I usually always gave capsules that made more sense for special characters like that for buu etc... and also capsules that increase the health and power for very strong characters like fusion ones etc... while more weak characters like krillin, saibamen etc... had no capsules etc... just to make things more realistic.

It seems in sparking zero you can put even more capsules to characters to really add things.

I hope Sparking Zero will give you the choice to fuse as Gogeta or Vegito against Buuhan. It would be the closet thing to seeing the Gogeta vs. Buu fight that we never saw in the manga.

Bros Kamehameha is in. It's SS1 Gohan's ultimate. And Saiyawoman was in the anime.

If Shin is a playable character in this game, I don’t see why he’d be left out of the recent Boo saga trailer.

I can picture it if only for the fact that having just two giant fighters in the base roster is weird. Also, like, Baby Vegeta is a staple of these games.

Personally of course I don't give a hoot about anything GT-related and would rather it all just be relegated to a DLC pack I'll never ever buy. But they're probably gonna throw a bone to people that want Super Saiyan 4 or whatever.

I hope there's a whole ass God of Destruction DLC pack. Now that's something I would shell out some buckaroos for.

When did GT become popular? I mean I've always liked GT but for a long while it was the black sheep of the DB family and now people are demanding GT characters in Sparking Zero or else? When did that mindset change??
I wish people were that Hyper over Og Dragon Ball characters for this game.

Or is GT characters code for the Super Saiyan 4's?

People like the characters from GT, not so much the show itself. Just like how people like the MK characters from the PS2 era, but not the games.

When Super debuted. People realised that GT isn't that bad compared to what was offered in Super.
