Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
Crunchyroll episodes go up sometime after the actual Japanese air time (so they're not competing with the original broadcast). I feel like for Super it was maybe an hour later? Nothing really notable here.

Crunchyroll simulcasts are usually 1 hour after the Japanese broadcast.TechExpert2021 wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 3:55 pmFor some unknown reason, the sub airtime says "Time TBA" despite DB Daima being already scheduled to air at 11:40 PM JST on Fuji TV in Japan on its premiere date. Could it be that Crunchyroll delayed the premiere time? I'm not sure.M16U3L2015 wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 3:16 pm Crunchyroll announced its lineup for the Spring season and Europe is still not on the list of territories for stream.
It seems that Crunchyroll does not have the Daima license for Europe.

The time hour is almost always announced shortly before the premiere.

M16U3L2015's point was Crunchyroll still hasn't announced a simulcast for Europe, despite the upcoming one covering basically all other major territories.VegettoEX wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 4:02 pm Crunchyroll episodes go up sometime after the actual Japanese air time (so they're not competing with the original broadcast). While I acknowledge a European simulcast could just be announced I understand people's concern, because if you look back to when the Super simulcast was announced it covered all the same regions as this Daima simulcast with the addition of Europe (certain territories like France notwithstanding).
And yes, the Super simulcast was overdue by well over a year, but if TOEI's plan was for a near global rollout they were successful at that, moreso than Daima at this moment.

November 10, 2024 there will be an 83 minute Dragon Ball Daima theatrical screening in the United States.
I assume they're going to combine the first three episodes together for a showing? Or maybe the first two, if they're borth longer than usual?

Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
I think at this point Funimation/Crunchyroll should provide both subbed and dubbed theatrical screenings of DB Daima on that day (November 10, 2024) so both sub and dub fans would be happy. DBZ Broly, DBZ Fusion Reborn, and the DBZ Bardock TV special were screened in theaters nationwide in 2018. IIRC they're unfortunately screened in theaters dubbed only.TheRed259 wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 8:54 amEnglish Dubbed:JulieYBM wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 12:01 am https://x.com/WTK/status/18366152590475 ... eaU2A&s=19

They provided subbed and dubbed screenings for other anime series and films they licensed, and for some reason, they couldn’t do the same with Dragon Ball. I think they should permanently drop the "the majority of American DB fans dislike the Japanese voices" mentality they have.

Damn, if these are dub-only then I have zero reason to attend.

This has to be a joke, what's the point of doing this if you didn't even hear her performance, it would have made more sense for Sean to have done the introduction.JulieYBM wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 8:21 pmhttps://x.com/WTK/status/18369217970920 ... uqwbw&s=19JulieYBM wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 12:01 am https://x.com/WTK/status/18366152590475 ... eaU2A&s=19

Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
Could there be a real reason why Crunchyroll refuses to provide subbed theatrical screenings of DB anime material? As I mentioned earlier, they do subbed and dubbed theatrical screenings of other anime series and films they licensed, and they don't want to do the same with Dragon Ball.JulieYBM wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 8:21 pmhttps://x.com/WTK/status/18369217970920 ... uqwbw&s=19JulieYBM wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 12:01 am https://x.com/WTK/status/18366152590475 ... eaU2A&s=19

Isn't it because maybe they don't want the American audience to be shut off by the Japanese voices? Well, come on, Crunchyroll! Not every American DB fan is a dub fan.

This aside, it seems that this confirms that there will be no English simuldub of Daima.
In my opinion, I really don't see the point of doing a theatrical screening of a TV series that will have already been available to watch on streaming, the only special thing these screenings will have is the English dub and those who only watch subtitled DB have no incentive to watch it in theaters.

I think it's going to be like DB Super again except that the dub fans will have to wait for 2 months for the English dub to premiere instead of 2 years and that the dub will premiere in theaters instead of on a cable channel.M16U3L2015 wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:02 pm This aside, it seems that this confirms that there will be no English simuldub of Daima.

On the bright side, all the YouTubers who react to the series day-of will be watching the series subbed, so I won't have to hear the dub actors when I check out what others have to say about big moments. :p
Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
That's too bad. I was hoping for multiple international simuldubs of Daima.M16U3L2015 wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:02 pm This aside, it seems that this confirms that there will be no English simuldub of Daima.

I'm not surprised, ADN in France is slowly getting bigger in France to the point of rivaling Crunchyroll in that country.
I believe that for Spain, the license will be held by Selecta Vision and they will broadcast it on their streaming service Anime Box.
I wonder what platforms will stream it in the rest of Europe.

A week after the premier of the series, eh? I wonder what details we'll learn about the series—if at all?
Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
Probably some making of-stuff with concept art and such.
