Broly and Super Hero coming to Netflix Japan

Post by Dragon Ball Ireland » Tue Sep 10, 2024 9:03 am

Just announced.

Both movies are dropping on September 15th.

The old movies were on Netflix Japan at one point and by the sounds of this tweet they will be coming back.

Great news for Japanese fans who can't afford their absurdly experience home releases.

I guess this proves that Toei isn't anti-streaming in its native country.

I think if anything TOEI was more pro-streaming in Japan as their remasters of the specials were on Netflix AND Amazon Prime, and they are the only territory I'm aware of where the former streamed the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z TV animes.

It's odd that given Netflix's worldwide popularity we haven't seen the series on it elsewhere. At one point it looked like Dragon Ball Z was coming to Netflix in the Netherlands as the national ratings board had it listed, and Netflix France said they were working on it but that never came to fruition (to my knowledge).

Globally TOEI seem to have begun to embrace streaming much more. No TV deals have been announced for Daima, only a simulcast for most continents, excluding Europe (which will be getting it on another streaming service titled ADN in France and Germany).
