Also, I came across this when looking at character bios. I don't know if its been posted or not:
Chow Yun-Fat - Master Roshi
Character Description - This older man is a good friend of Goku’s grandfather, Gohan, and Goku comes to enlist his help after his grandfather is killed. Although he looks like a beggar, Roshi is one of the worlds most fearsome fighters. Master Roshi begins Goku’s rigorous training to prepare him for the adventure of finding and fighting for the seven Dragon Balls to save the world from Piccolo’s destructive plan. A wise, somewhat wry man who knows as much about human nature as he does about martial arts, Master Roshi is impressed with Goku’s fighting but reminds him of his failings as well. Ultimately, Master Roshi sacrifices his own life in order to destroy Piccolo.
Did that happen in the original? I haven't seen much DB
Yes, in the original series he uses a technique that will trap Piccolo in a croc pot forever. But he fails and the side effect of using the technique is that he dies. It sounds like this is what is going to happen in the movie which is really great because it is so true to the manga, I just hope they execute it right. :D

Edit: Dang! djkalteraphine beat me to it!

Also, I'll have that information on that song as soon as possible. :)

Edit 2: Here's all of the info I could find on that song in case anyone else was waiting for it:

The song is called Majin-Jô No Nemuri Hime (The Sleeping Princess in the Devil’s Castle) and is found on the DragonBall & DragonBall Z: Daizenshuu (5 CD Set) (look it up in the Daizenshuu EX Music Database) and is first played in the second Dragonball film Sleeping Princess in the Devil’s Castle. Sadly, the CD is supposed to be pretty hard to find now a days so your best best is to look for it on Ebay. Also, the purely instrumental version of the song has never been released on CD, so you can't buy that one. :?

Hope this helps! :)

Unless we're just talking DB and not factoring in Z... but even then, DB has it's occaisional "icky" moments later on (and is BIIIIIIIG on the nudity and sexual humor, but I suppose that's safe to consider a non-factor in the live action flick).
Once more-
Season's 3 and 4 (where those two scenes can currently be found) are rated TV-PG... in America!
Viz's manga is rated A- All Ages... in America!

Granted that once Dragon Ball has to pass the MPAA and soccer mom's in general, we may up the ante to PG-13, but in general the cultural differences has not led to a drastically increased rating for Dragon Ball. It's still rated for and sold to kids over here, even when it isn't censored.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Another rumour floating around from DragonBall Movie Blog...
Our friend Daphnée of Dragonball Film received an interesting spoiler about Piccolo from Cloud Strife. If you don’t want to be spoiled don’t keep reading (if it turns out to be true!).

SPOILER
I think everybody remembers how is born Piccolo. Kami-Sama has separated the devil part of himself, and created a sort of evil clone: Piccolo. So in the movie, Piccolo will have a quite similar power. According to Cloud, Piccolo will be able to reveal the dark side of anybody, and to create an evil clone of the people.
END SPOILER
Highlight to read...

My question is, would this even work on Goku? Since he has a pure heart and all. And what do you guys even think of this?

Ugh.

Sounds like bad science fiction to me.

Well if the series is anything to go by, Akkuman's technique failed completely against Goku, so Piccolo's technique shouldn't work either.

Then again, we're talking about a Goku who goes to high school and endeavors to steal people's girlfriends.

So we'll probably see an evil Goku.

Well it is only a rumor. I don't know how this Cloud Strife guy would know something like this anyway.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.

If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.

That actually sounds kind of cool to me. I'd love to see Goku

fight an evil version of himself...Turles anyone?

I know, I should. I own the movie pack that funimation released, and a VHS of the old Kidmark dub. Dragoball is a lot harder to find in stores than Z, I have come to find out. :?

I don't know about violence, but sexual content(Which DB does have quite enough of) is different. In Naruto, the first episode in which Ero-sennin/Jiraiya appears, it got a TV-14, and it was edited in some parts as well.(Not many, VIZ isn't as bad on the edits)

According to Dragonball Le Film, a short 2 second teaser trailer has been released in Japan!!! *Dun Dun Dun* Now, before you have a heart attack, just know that there is nothing in the trailer that could not have been easily faked, it's a pretty simple and uninformative trailer, nothing special.

It's either fake, or someone just caught the tail end of it with their cell phone camera. I'm guessing fake, though; the mostly-official word was that we wouldn't be getting a teaser trailer of any kind until the end of this month, at the earliest.

I agree with you, it is most likely a fake, or the end of the trailer.

This I did find interesting:

Image

It seems that there is a two word phrase that is under the title. Since the movie is supposed to named just "Dragonball", I'm really thinking this is just a fake. Dragonball Le Film said that a high quality version of this video will come out soon, so maybe then we'll be able to read the other two words.

Yeah, I figure pretty much anyone who can ride Kinto'un would be unaffected by such a technique.

Besides, I really don't need to see Turles butchered too.

The trailer looks fake. Anyone could do that on a computer and then tape it with their cellphone.
On hiatus.

I'm saying it's fake.

Seriously, whats the point of even putting it online if it wasn't?, surely you'd endeavor to record ALL of the trailer.

That 'trailer' is almost certainly fake.

As for the "Evil clones" thing, it's possible. Hell, it'd be a great plot point for Goku.

Piccolo: *Uses evil clone making powers on the gang*
Evil Clones: *Evil Clones of Roshi, Bulma, and Yamcha appear.... no evil Goku*
Piccolo: What!? That's impossible! No one is that pure!

Or something along those lines.

Or as I did in one story the 'evil clone' is the "Kakarotto" half of Goku that got locked up as an infant (from the head bashing) and only had time to 'play' when he was an Oozaru. Which, again, screams plot point and alluding to the sequel.

But meh, the entire thing could just be a rumor. We do know how much Marster's is pushing for things not to be too heavily altered. It may have been planned and canned by Marsters objecting. Or the gist of it could have been altered by Marsters objecting. Still, Goku Vs. Evil Goku would be fun. And an Evil Roshi and Evil Bulma would be cool, too.

I really liked what he had to say in the interview, at least he was quite familiar with the series beforehand, which makes me even more interested in seeing his interpretation of Piccolo, seeing as how he's seen the original Dragonball.

Has to be fake. And even if it wasn't, its so short, boring and uninformative I wouldn't give a crap anyway.

More translations from the Jjmp SQ article, mostly about the characters.

Stand-out news: Chatwin buffed up for Goku, Chow Yun-Fat's Roshi is as perverted and mischievous as ever, and Marsters continues to go nuts for Piccolo.

Roshi sounds like he's going to be pretty good too. But sadly, I have to admit, based on the production photos we've seen I do prefer the physical appearance of Roshi as he was seen in Dragonball: The Magic Begins. In this movie Yun-Fat Chow's character seems a little too thick to play the scrawny Turtle Hermit and he seems a little too nicely dressed to look like the beach-bum that Roshi is. Not to mention that Yun-Fat Chow's character is missing the trademark sunglasses. :?

The author also thought certainly that Yamcha’s appearance is few in the original, and he wondered whether Puar (Yamcha’s pet cat) appeared or not. He asked his company editor, but the editor said “Who cares?” and the author didn’t really care either.
Also a part taken from the translated page on DragonBall Movie Blog. I think it's kinda stupid how they disposed the idea of Puar so quickly. I wonder if that's how they handled Kuririn too. "Who cares?"

If Chatwin was trying to be in-character in that article then I feel a little less skeptical about the whole thing.
