If Shin is from the demon realm, I wonder if Barris and Champa are as well? Or the other GoD because Mule looks like a demon with him being a typical devil looking character.

Why Champa? he has rabbit-like ears like Beerus, not pointy ones like Shin.
Iwan and Sidra are the only two with demon ears, I think they could definitely be demons.
Mule does look like a devil but he looks like one to us, real people, but in the Dragon World, without pointy ears he doesn't. He has no ears at all.
IIRC, you can have pointy ears and NOT be a demon, but you can't be a demon and not have pointy ears.

Funny. Glorio Also gave a Trunks from GT vibe. It is like GT with extra steps. Kaioshin being Pan, kid Goku being kid Goku and Glorio being Trunks...AliTheZombie13 wrote: Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:22 pmI can't help but think that this is going to happen eventually...Lord Beerus wrote: Sun Oct 27, 2024 5:33 pm They seem to be setting up Glorio as a central character and I pray they have a substantial character arc planned for him because he has been a dull character so far.

yeap, and so was GT. As someone who used to be a huge star wars fan that is appealing. But Even DBGT feels like DB, because it resembles Original DB, this one... doesn't. I feels like a Toriyama work, but not really like Dragon Ball. Not 'saiyan' it is something precisely bad by itself...Glorio is very Han Solo inspired. The whole episode was.
There are no complains from me yet (unless you count the uncertainty of where Gohan is and how young is him? Given the fact that he was still a teen before the wish, so he might go back to be Namek saga age???). Even when resorting to fart jokes, the show in general is very decent to watch. I still find the music very generic and I believe that is why I am not getting the DB Magical vibes that I love from DB, DBZ and DBGT. It happened with Super as well. The music in DB is crucial. DBKai was decent (plagiarism or not) . But at least Daima has quality animation, unlike Super which is unbearble to watch.
I like the new characters. It is getting interesting. Another cliff hanger end of episode, it works for me. I will cotinue to watch.

Glorio does feel like GT Trunks, who also wielded pistols in Toriyama's drafts.Saiya6Cit wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2024 6:56 pm Funny. Glorio Also gave a Trunks from GT vibe. It is like GT with extra steps. Kaioshin being Pan, kid Goku being kid Goku and Glorio being Trunks...
What I meant with that GIF was, I'm expecting there to be some point in the story where Glorio will pull a Trunks & Giru and feel like he's betraying the main cast, only to reveal that "Ha! It was actually just a master plan to uncover the true main villain!"

Yeah its not like Goku turned into a kid on the first episodes of both and departed with two others in a space ship to whole new different environment in the second episodes.fevan wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2024 12:48 pmGrasping at straws? Cool, so does this mean that this series will feature a cringe form like SS4? Because that will mean I can pre-emptively lower my expectations, lol!Jord wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 4:40 amYeah its not like Goku turned into a kid on the first episodes of both and departed with two others in a space ship to whole new different environment in the second episodes.fevan wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2024 12:48 pmGrasping at straws? Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 3 - Official Discussion Thread
I am curious to see what new forms we'll see in the show.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 3 - Official Discussion Thread
Real talk: I hope we get no new forms.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 3 - Official Discussion Thread
I hope we get 69,000 new transformations for the Saiyans and other characters. I really like it when they get all gay with the hair and aura colors.
I need a Daima version of Super Saiyan 4 and Super Saiyan 4 Limit Break. Those forms are so cool. I want to see them appear, but I'm not sure how the character arcs will work out.
With how the series has highlighted demons having pointy ears, I think that it would be cool if Gokuu and Vegeta got new transformations with pointy ears that is triggered by their battling in the Demon Realm. Give them cool new demon magic abilities, too!

That would be really cool, some kind of demon transformation or power up. That would actually feel very refreshing.JulieYBM wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:59 pm

DB Fans: "We don't want any DB stuff not written by Toriyama!"
Toriyama: "I really, really wanted to do this."
DB Fans: "Not like that!"
If we do end up getting Super Saiyan 4, or more GT-inspired stuff, that's the will of Toriyama.

But no, seriously, always trust your own instincts—especially when you're more experienced with storytelling as a craft and medium. "But [original creator]!" means shit when you can clearly see that the other people working on this franchise have a lot of skills that the original creator doesn't have. Plenty of the directors and animators who work on Dragon Ball contribute cool battle ideas. Tomioka Atsuhiro is a writer whose career has shown him to not only be good at writing battle strategies, but also coming up with compelling rivalry dynamics. Heck, the entire point of being a director is being able to made film and television, not just adapt some comic panel-for-panel.
Dragon Ball fans should learn more about and appreciate the unique skills and contributions of those who work on Dragon Ball outside of Toriyama Akira.

Not to say that SSJ4 needs to be in Daima but are there really people who don’t like that transformation? To me it was pretty much perfect

Quips and complaints about pacing aside, I'm enjoying Daima. So far, I call it good.

If we get SS4 in this show, aye, that's the "will of Toriyama", and Toriyama has been regularly criticized every time a new Super chapter dropped. Nothing will really change.
But I don't think a new form fits the tone and light-heartedness of this show at all.

I agree, even in GT one could argue that SSJ4 really only came after they abandoned the lighthearted and adventure oriented story in favour of a direction more in line with what we saw in Z. I dont think Daima will do that, it seems like an interesting blend of Hunt for the DBs and the RRA.

I'm not against the stakes rising up and the tone shifting dramatically when the story reaches a climax, that's classic storytelling.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 3 - Official Discussion Thread
I saw chapter 1 and 2 of Daima and they were nice and entertaining to my taste (I suspect I'm not very demanding), but I had to stop watching chapter 3 when I saw Kaioh Shin covering Goku's mouth to shut him up about the fish. I didn't like that at all.
I think Goku did a lot of silly things as a kid (since first chapter until Piccolo Daimaoh saga), but then it was comical for several reasons:
1) He was a real kid, and especially uneducated, which explained all his goofiness except the one with the Tenkaichi Budokai announcer when Goku thinks he guessed the number he got (the one time nothing mitigated his stupidity).
2) It was how the character was introduced (and there's nothing wrong with introducing a new character as an idiot), who then evolved to become the idol of millions of fans (and from here on it can be problematic to show him as an idiot).
When he's already a hero, a mass idol, you shouldn't show him an idiot, specially because as an adult, in Z, he mostly stopped doing stupid things. He was still naïve, but as an experienced man stopped doing the same things he did when he was a child like touching everyone genitals to test if they were male or female, taking his clothes in a public street or the "are you pooping, master?" when he and Krillin brought Lunch.
However, Goku's mental stupidity surpasses everything of the kid Goku in the original manga (also the number anecdota in tenkaichi budokai). That once he calls him goldfish and Kaioh Shin has to tell him "be careful of no bothering him" is ok, but once he keeps provoking him by calling him goldfish all the time even have being adviced, and being needed to handgag him because he won't shut up, took away all his dignity. Moreover, it doesn't make sense for a weaker character than Goku (Kaioh Shin) to do it either. Seeing handgagged Goku doing "Mmmmmh!" Is pathetic.

This series is going to be a rough one to get through, isn’t it?
