2025 Dragon Ball Predictions

Post by TechExpert2021 » Thu Nov 14, 2024 5:57 pm

It's that time of year once again! We're halfway through November and almost getting close to the end of 2024!

Anyway, what are your predictions for the Dragon Ball franchise in 2025?

Daitouden's predictions:
  • Dragon Ball Daima will have more than 24 episodes and will continue beyond 2025 until at some point in 2026, 2027, or 2028.
  • Dragon Ball Daima will end after 20-30 episodes in late March 2025.
  • Funimation/Crunchyroll will release a new steel-book BD set of DBZ (reusing the 30th Anniversary BD masters for the discs).
  • Funimation/Crunchyroll will also release new steel-book BD sets of OG DB and DBGT (reusing their respective Brick DVD masters for the discs).
  • More non-English dubs of Daima will be coming out.
  • The English dub of DB Daima will make its network premiere on Adult Swim's Toonami.
  • A new Dragon Ball JRPG game focused strictly on DB Daima will be released sometime in 2026 or 2027.
  • The Dragon Ball Super manga will end after 10 years of circulation.
  • The Dragon Ball Super manga will continue until 2027 or 2028.
  • A manga based on the Dragon Ball Super Divers card game will be released (and later a Dragon Ball Super Divers promotional anime).
  • Dragon Ball Project: Multi will be released in mid-2025.
  • A new animated DB theatrical film will be announced and released in 2026.
––––––––––––––––––––

You can also review your predictions for the Dragon Ball franchise in 2024 and see what went along for the franchise that year.

Toyotaro will reach the End of Z only to reveal Super is a whole different timeline/continuity by including Beerus, Whis, Broly and every single other new character in the final tournament, and the original manga remains untouched. That, or everyone's memories are getting wiped out.

Crunchyroll will continue to forget OG Dragon Ball and GT exist.

Fans will still ask about Dragon Ball Super season 2

-Toyotaro will give his place to a mangaka who is up to the task.

-An upcoming film based on some of Tori's unfinished ideas will be announced.

A second animated adaption of Dragon Ball (1984) will be announced and primarily use production staff from Dragon Ball Daima for a more seamless transition. Broadcast will begin in October 2026, both so that they can have as much time as possible for production, but also stil say that the series is begin released in the year of the fortieth anniversary of Dragon Ball (1986), while also avoiding making the future anniversaries of Dragon Ball (1986) and this new series overlap, so as to continue to create more excuses to do anniversary promotions in future years.

They will continue to milk Xenoverse 2 and Kakarot with more DLC.

Toyotarou will continue the manga with a new arc that had some planning with Toriyama and it'll edge really close to the end of Dragon Ball but not quite get there.

Bandai Namco should release Xenoverse 3 (make it more like a rehash of XV2 but with a new story and more customization options) and then release a ton of XV3 DLC so they could milk lots of yen out of that game.

Daima Prediction:

The bits in the Daima opening of adult Goku with nyoi-bo do foreshadow him getting his adult body back before the final battle.

My highest hopes for when this happens - 10 episodes in.

My expectations for when this happens - at the end of the 2nd to last episode of the show. (23).
On hiatus.

I'll still ask about Dragon Ball Super Season 2 because I can.

And also because I like Moro and I would like to see him in animation. I just think he's neat. :)

Apparently this take is a terrible crime that gets you laughed at as a fool around these parts, lol!
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

This, if any series will be getting the standard Blu-Ray or steelbook treatment it will be Daima. If Funimation/Crunchyroll cared to release original Dragon Ball or GT on Blu-Ray for consistency with Z the time would have been after the 2013/2014 season sets.

As for my predictions:
  • Daima will wrap up after 20-30 episodes
  • Daima will receive more dubs than any Dragon Ball series thus far, including some languages Dragon Ball has never been dubbed in
  • There will be a surprise guest in the Daima English dub that will blow everyone's minds as Brian Drummond in Super did
  • Daima will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray and DVD in Japan, all English-speaking territories and possibly other places like France, Spain and Germany
  • A new Dragon Ball theatrical movie will be announced for release in 2025 or more likely 2026 to celebrate the anime's 40th anniversary
  • Super may be announced to continue with the Moro arc (although equally I could see people getting their hopes up only for it to amount to nothing)
  • Crunchyroll may repackage the blue bricks with their own branding and fans will complain about the pricing and a DVD-only release in 2025
  • Crunchyroll might also re-release Kai with their own logos, similarly receiving complaints about being overpriced and to no one's surprise it will only feature the Kikuchi score (although some will still complain)
  • Another major controversy with Funimation/Crunchyroll will happen leading to panic about fan favourites like Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat being replaced
  • Some member of the Japanese cast will pass away
  • Cartoon Network India will begin airing Dragon Ball GT for the first time ever with dubs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada
    • Additionally more of the old Dragon Ball movies will get dubbed and aired
  • A new Korean dub of Dragon Ball Z will begin airing on AniBox in South Korea
  • Ocean Kai won't be released but we will finally get some update on the status of it from someone within the company
  • There will be some major discovery with lost Dragon Ball dubs

  • Daima wraps up on Episode 24.
  • The DBSuper manga returns but now under a new artist.
  • A new 2D fighting game is revealed but it's not developed by ArcSys.
  • By late 2025 a new film will be revealed.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

That'll make DB Daima the shortest-lived Dragon Ball anime series after GT (which had 64 episodes).

99% won't happen, but i still hope it will.
- Toei either lost license or sell it to Studio Wit or other, more competent studio, or at least get rid of that Dragon forum stuff that gave staff ideas.
- Crunchyroll lose license and Discotek get it
- Broadcast audio is finally allowed to be used on worldwide releases

Thanks to Discotek:
Magic Knight Rayearth get DVD release in 2015 and Blu-Ray release on 2016
Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas get DVD release in 2015

Wit overworks their staff more and have worse production schedules, so this just seems like a weird prediction/wish.

What about MAPPA? Or Madhouse? I heard they are both involved in the animation production of the Japanese animated series Takt Op. Destiny.

Not defending Wit or MAPPA, but it seems to be overall problem, wages and other stuff haven't changed since Osamu Tezuka days :( https://www.cartoonbrew.com/artist-righ ... 39390.html

Toei Animation has an actual union and places limits on the number of drawings used in their episodes so as to not overload the production. Dragon Ball Daima literally had a dozen episodes finished before it began airing. No other studio—save for maybe Kyouto Animation—is going to be doing that.

Pretty much this.

I'm expecting it to be a pretty quiet year.
Daima will continue into the year and wrap-up somewhere in the summer.
Maybe announce a new movie.
Maybe the manga comes back.

That's it. Sure, there will be re-releases and re-packagings, and there will be tons of Sparking Zero DLC, but nothing will move the needle in a big way. 2024 was a pretty huge year with SZ and Daima...2025 will just kinda coast along.

I'm not even expecting Daima to get a physical media release. That doesn't happen with 2020s streaming shows...sadly.

That would mean we won't get English subs from Steve Simmons, and we'll end up being stuck with Toei's official English subs.

Crunchyroll since the 2022 merger with Funimation has already been treating home video as an afterthought to them.
