The people you’ve been talking to more than likely just “don’t like” that that’s been established in Daima. Which is fine if they don’t like it but that doesn’t make it any less true for what it is.

It does feel like a bizarre attempt to fix something that didn't need to be fixed. In this case it feels like trying to fix the fan imagined retcon of Piccolo being a demon and them not a demon even though the original story already addressed this. There was also a clear cut difference between Mazoku like Piccolo and his children, Garlic Jr and his warriors and Lord Slug's henchmen and Majin like Dabra, and the demons we see in episode 81 of og Dragon Ball.

I agree. I do like the idea in general of the Namekians coming from the Nameks of the Demon World, but the inception of this truly does feel a bit too "Let’s try to explain the original Piccolo!"
