Dale Wilson passes away
It was confirmed by Ian James Corlett and later by his wife Gail.
For many years he was suffering from metastasized prostate cancer and parkinson's disease.
He was the best Cell in my opinion, may he rest in peace.

Re: Dale Wilson passes away
I read the title as Dale Kelly at first. Truth be told, I’ve always had a bit of trouble keeping track of the post-Cell Ocean voice cast.
In any case, RIP. It seems like we’ve been losing a fair amount of Dragon Ball voice actors from various languages in recent years.

Oh, that's really sad. The Vancouver voice acting industry has just lost a big name and a big friend, and Cell has lost another voice...
My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fellow actors.

Yeah, Dale Wilson was exclusive to the Westwood dub (it was unclear whether he played Kami in the Pioneer movies but Ward Perry was credited) so I imagine it's mostly Canadian and European fans like myself that would be familiar with him.WittyUsername wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2025 10:45 amTruth be told, I’ve always had a bit of trouble keeping track of the post-Cell Ocean voice cast.
It's unclear whether or not he reprised his role as Cell for the Ocean Kai dub, initially he said he just heard vague rumours, years later he seemed fairly certain he did, although his good friend Daemon Clarke was unaware a Canadian dub of Kai even existed.
It is understandable Dale's memory was quite fuzzy as he had been suffering with Parkinson's Disease for many years and he'd played countless roles in about 50 years in the industry.
In any case Daemon Clarke was glad when Dale Wilson was brought up as the two have a long history together and Dale helped him get into the acting industry. No doubt he will miss him greatly too.
We've lost so much of the Canadian cast in the last few years. Kirby Morrow, Pauline Newstone, Doc Harris, now Dale Wilson. Unless you count Brian Drummond as Vegeta now the only Vancouver actor left for one of the main villains is Brian Dobson (Super Buu and Kid Buu).Tian wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2025 1:18 pmThe Vancouver voice acting industry has just lost a big name and a big friend, and Cell has lost another voice...

Very sad news. I was fond of his Cell and characters from other shows like Clow Reed. May he rest in peace.
Not too long ago I was rewatching some old Westwood dub episodes and within such a short time we've lost two greats...

I honestly didn’t know that Pauline and Doc had passed away. I’m nowhere near as active in the online DB community as I once was. RIP to Pauline, Doc, and Dale. Three great voice actors and a big part of the Ocean/Westwood dub which is what I had.
Re: Dale Wilson passes away
RIP Dale Wilson.
I remember him sounding quite fitting as Perfect Cell's calmer side. Perfect Cell was actually quite laid back and calm a lot of the time, and Dale's voice really did fit that side of him.
I also remember him as Kami. He delivered that hilarious line "I taught.. Go..ku... NOTHING!!! Hahaha ha!", in response to Yamcha and co. demanding they receive the same training as Goku.
