Mike McFarland Diagnosed With Brain Tumor

This is sad to see with the span of Dragon Ball VA's dying. He's not my favorite VA for Roshi but I wish him the best

It says the surgery was apparently a success, so that’s at least nice.

Agreed, it's devastating to hear this news for anyone, but great to hear if they're holding on and making a recovery.

Gotta give credit to everyone that contributed to the GoFundMe campaign. US medical expenses are crippling.

I wish him all the best. He makes a great Baby Vegeta. I also get to hear his voice as Master Roshi every time I launch my ole good Budokai Tenkaichi 1 for PS2, as he's narrating the load menu screen in a memorable way

It sucks that many of us on this forum live in a country where the options are, 1) get life saving surgery but go into dept for years, and have major disputes with our insurance providers, or 2) die.
We need a Steve Simmons' re-translation of the manga.

That is stinks to hear. I had a family member who had a brain tumor and it is scary to see what they go through.

McFarland is a great Master Roshi IMO, as well as Buggy the Clown from One Piece, Belze from BLack Cat, Goemon from Lupin III and many others.

I hope he recovers well enough.

This is gonna be tough to post but, it's been recently announced that Mike's condition is worse and more serious than we thought.
To everyone who has donated, we are so incredibly grateful and overwhelmed by the amount of love and support you’ve given to Mike. Unfortunately, Mike’s tumor was a glioblastoma, and it is progressing faster than previously hoped. After an attempt with assisted living, Mike was once again hospitalized and will now be moving to a skilled nursing facility to continue his treatment.

We know the term glioblastoma might come as a shock to some. Mike only told a few at first the severity of his condition. With some encouragement from his family, he has bravely decided to go public with his diagnosis.

While insurance does cover a certain number of days for care, everything beyond that will be a private pay scenario. If you’ve ever looked into the cost of such facilities, you know the national average is the price of a decent used car… every month.

Everyone has already been so incredibly generous. If you can, please donate, every little bit helps. If you can’t, please help spread the word. Thank you all for your kindness. You have no idea how much it means to Mike and his family and friends.
A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years :)

A terrible thing to happen to Mike MacFarland.

All I can say is that I hope he recovers from this, and hooks onto however good a chance he has of recovery.

Sounds awful, I really wish McFarland and all his loved ones the best in this difficult time and hope that somehow he can overcome this and recover.

Jesus Christ. My grandfather and uncle (dad's side for both) both died of glioblastoma. It's the most evil and terrifying disease in the world to me.

I am sorry to hear that,

Well, such is life. We better enjoy life while we still can. Dragon Ball helps a lot on that part.

This just sucks... I'm obviously gonna hope that he'll make it through, that a miracle will happen but god... that just is horrible.

Awful news. I always really enjoyed his Roshi, Yajirobe and Baby (plus many others) and wouldn’t wish something like that on anyone. The insurance problem in this country is despicable.
