"Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Lol, and to think people were actually sure that nothing beyond the Z brand would make it into this game.
Doesn't this game have Mechikabura, Towa and Mira somewhere? they belong to the Demon Realm if I'm not mistaken. They could use those guys. Shit, I'd like to have those guys appear in Daima.

Nobody cares about canon. Companies care about money and GT characters make money. That's why we got them as paid DLC in Xenoverae and FighterZ.Scsigs wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 2:29 pmIn the worlds of Abridged Vegeta: Interesting!Bardock God of Time wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 1:36 pm Daima DLC announced https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-vtDtMF-TY
That was never gonna happen, sorry to break it to you. I may have said it here a while ago, but GT wasn't gonna be adapted because: It's still the lowest-rated DB series, it's not really canon to anything because Super & Daima kick it out of any kind of continuity, & Super & Daima are the latest & more popular options to go with.Trouser wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 1:45 pm Considering Daima is now trending it was a matter of time. Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Problem with your logic is that with Xenoverse, those are games that explicitly deal with different timelines from the DB shows & movies, so of course they were gonna have GT content at some point. Although, GT gets the short end of the stick there, if you didn't know or remember. A few missions in Xenoverse 1, barely any new ones in 2, & a handful of PQs. FighterZ included several characters because it's a fighting game, so of course it was gonna have the heavy hitters from GT as DLC characters. And, just to add a 3rd game, Sparking Zero at launch only has characters from it, no story mode levels based on the show at all & missing Super 17 & even Nuova & Eis Shenrons. It's like they only included the characters they did because they were in the previous games in the series & not because they had a particular want to adapt the stories. DLC may add something, but we don't know. I at least expect Super 17 to come.Jord wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 5:04 pmNobody cares about canon. Companies care about money and GT characters make money. As for "they don't care about canon," Kakarot as a game adapted only what was in the original DB manga & Z, the 2 Z movies that got adapted into Super, the 2 Z TV specials, & the 23rd World Tournament. They are presenting the game as "play the original anime/manga" & not adapting anything that wasn't made by Toriyama outside of some minor things that the Z anime had as filler. The only extra stuff being Android 21, Bonyu (both created by Toriyama for the games), & some stuff taking influence from the Z anime filler like the driving episode & new stuff to give you extra stuff to do in the game. Plus Mira & Towa from Online & Xenoverse (whom I assume were at least partly created by Toriyama). So, your logic doesn't work for this game.
I mean, I'm sure that everyone expected them to reach out to do Super, but no one expected Daima. I wonder where it fits int he timeline of the game, though, because the game makes the Battle of Gods & Resurrection F plots happen pretty quickly after Buu, like within a year or 2 as opposed to the 5 years after the movies were.Koitsukai wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 4:28 pm Lol, and to think people were actually sure that nothing beyond the Z brand would make it into this game.

No idea who Mechikabura is, but yes, Towa & Mira are in the game as post game content where they just came off of the plot in Xenoverse 1, Mira's revived, they fight Goku & co, then fuck off to begin the plot of Xenoverse 2.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

I also obviously would have preferred to see some GT DLC, and I'm still not counting it out as a future possibility... but this is at least still better than getting Super-derived DLC instead. Kakarot so far remains the least-tainted of the modern games in that department.

God, Blue and Golden Frieza are already in the game. All we're missing are the better parts of Super.Kaboom wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:39 pm I also obviously would have preferred to see some GT DLC, and I'm still not counting it out as a future possibility... but this is at least still better than getting Super-derived DLC instead. Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Like the other person said, they already have the first 2 arcs/last 2 Z movies adapted into the game. All they have left to do is the last 2 main story arcs of the Super anime series & maybe the last 2 movies. Honestly, it'd be good since after Resurrection F, there's nothing left to do that links back to the base game like those 2 DLCs did. The game lets you level up to 300 with each character, so I don't see why they shouldn't do it. The Tournament of Power in particular is an arc with so many characters that would lend very well to letting the characters be so strong.Kaboom wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:39 pm I also obviously would have preferred to see some GT DLC, and I'm still not counting it out as a future possibility... but this is at least still better than getting Super-derived DLC instead. No GT, No OG and No Super in those games but guess what happened. The dumbest discourse we've seen in the dragon ball fandom imo.
After we get the Daima DLC for this game, wouldn't surprise me if we start getting Super DLC starting with the Universe 6 Tournament arc.

Stupid question maybe, but I'm unfamiliar with CC2's production values. Now that it's been revealed that they've been working on Kimetsu 2, should I be worried about the Daima DLC's quality? Like have they put a skeleton crew in charge of Daima, or are they able to work on multiple games at once?
Goin' down to South Park gonna have myself a time
Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
I just rebought the game on Switch. I'm surprised to see how well it runs in handheld mode. Fun game.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Not at all, at this point I'm sure they're already done with both DLC Packs, they must have seen the entire series before public. CC2 always puts up awesome finishers and this'll be no different.IntangibleFancy wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 11:31 pm Should I be worried about the Daima DLC's quality? By that point I hope they announce a sequel that just has the entirety of Super in it.Bardock God of Time wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 3:48 pm After we get the Daima DLC for this game, wouldn't surprise me if we start getting Super DLC starting with the Universe 6 Tournament arc.
Making U6 Tournament into it's own DLC pack wouldn't be much hype because there's like only one hype-worthy fight in that arc.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
If the DLC story spans all of Daima (which it is likely), then it will only be accessible once the shows all over.
Even if the show is only 20 episodes or so, we won't have anything for the next three months basically, possibly even five-sixth months if it gets closer to 30 episodes.

It's confirmed there are 2 parts. And since we're just done with Part 1 of Daima, it can release in January or February.Cold Skin wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2024 1:04 pm If the DLC story spans all of Daima (which it is likely), then it will only be accessible once the shows all over.

^ Then it's possibly good news, but that will also make the first time a DLC strangely ends with a "to be continued".
Well, it's going to be interesting to see how it's handled!

I just bought the Trunks DLC, since it's on sale. I am very impressed with it. It really nailed that atmosphere of the special, with tons of details.
That second to last fight with Gohan against the Androids though....thank god for healing items.

Guess they're waiting for the English version to reach Episode 8 before releasing the DLC.
Yeah, it's real good how much of love they put into Trunks Story, going far and beyond to even include his fight with Dabura, and probably the best Kaioshin characterization he's ever gotten.Jord wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 6:24 pm I just bought the Trunks DLC, since it's on sale. I really wish that they put the fights they cut from the base game of Vegeta & Trunks VS Cell in the DLC. Such a really weird & inconsistent thing to not adapt them. I know the Android Arc isn't that popular in Japan, but they gave so much love to every other arc. It's inconsistent.

I forgot about that Trunks Buu saga part in Super. I have the feeling it was barely featured in the anime, unless I'm misremembering. In any case, that part felt like new to my and it was an awesome extra to cap off the DLC. In some ways I may even enjoy that campaign more than the actual main game.Xeogran wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:02 amThis is gonna age badly @_@Xeogran wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 4:26 amIt's confirmed there are 2 parts. I read (and take this with a huge grain of salt) that the game originally was only supposed to go up to the Frieza Saga. In any case, the parts after the Frieza saga felt like they got a lot less attention in development with the Android/Cell part especially getting shafted. In some ways, the Trunks DLC may be a bit of a patch for that, since it does include a lot of Android love.Scsigs wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2025 4:05 pm I really wish that they put the fights they cut from the base game of Vegeta & Trunks VS Cell in the DLC. I think that ending at Freeza (funny as lot of people around the internet still believe that hoax with original run) was created mostly as a rumor based on the way they advertised the game in chronologiocal sense, because they started the promo and trailers with Saiyan to Freeza arc and promoted Cell and Buu way later.
Anyway, even tho I am completist, I have two factors that will determine if I will get this DLC or not. I am more interested in Sparking!ZERO now and waiting for the final episode of Daima, to asses how much appeal the story will have. So far, besides few interesting tidbits and lore, the new characters are just extras IMHO and I already have the season pass, so to fight with the new characters and forms for fun in the huge SZ roster is my main driver. And the show itself is kinda short with not so much content and as they already separated it in two parts, I wonder if there will be enough extra content added to play through and make the core story more interesting.
So the two things... Daima having a nice satisfying wrap-up beyond just being a legthy commercial with flashy new designs, but feel like a wholesome product in the end. And the DLC having enough content and to be fun to justify it's existence beyond just being cross-promo and the most recent Dragon Ball waveride.
