Then stop watching and following these threads. There's plenty of more fun things to do than repeat the same negative feelings over-and-over.
I've already established what I have a problem with with this series, so I'm trying not to do the insane thing of repeating the same thing over-and-over.
Anyway, the new form is cute. I hope it gets a name next episode, though lol
Apologies, I wish I had that willpower.
I'll try to make a better effort to avoid posting so much.

Fans who have issues with the series have every right to post them, just as fans who like the series post why they do. There's also the fact that there's only 2 more episodes left, so it wouldn't make sense to drop it now.

I hope that this fandom will start to look back on Super and re-evaluate Super Saiyan God/Rosé/Blue and Ultra Instinct.
Even if they were very similar to old forms, at least they tried to execute new concepts and ideas. It was about creating something new while being inspired by old things.
This is literally just (massive spoilers)
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

This is so genuinely baffling. I've been able to overlook modern Dragon Ball's blatant nostalgia pandering because it seems every arc had at least a story they wanted to tell. Daima meanders, it tells much of nothing and now it just repurposes an old form fans liked while missing the reasons fans liked it to begin with. It's hard not to look at Daima cynically as a result of corporate statistics and marketing ploys driven by consumerist greed, rather than the passion project of its author as it was marketed as.
I will cherish almost nothing about this show upon revisit.

You're confusing 'right' for 'necessity'. It's not kind to yourself to continually make melodramatic posts about things you hate and opining endlessly about how The Final Work of Some Artist Sucks.

The transformation in
is well done, and the reveal is amazing. The build up to it is great as well. Purely from an animation standpoint. I also liked how the hair in the original stood out from the fur.
Here it's more like "remember this? We gave him a new hair color".
So, fusion bugs to form
then?

Agreed.
Also, in GT, Goku got SSJ4 after he shrunk from his Golden Oozaru form. Here in Daima, it’s just another asspull like Son Gohan Beast.
I felt like modern DB prioritizes nostalgia pandering over telling a great story and having the best writing.

Something tells me that this transformation will have some kind of element on Goku's forearm...
I called it! The furr (or lack thereof) around his wrist is different

You can even take it further for the build up in GT by Goku needing to regrow his tail to be able to attain this power, needing the help from Elder Kai and Kibitoshin with that leading to Golden Oozaru.

GT also forced Goku to realize he cares about his family before transforming.
"But this is not Toriyama's Goku", I don't care.
Goku caring about his family >>>>>>> Deadbeat dad Goku.

I don't want to open that, I want to see it animated with my very own eyes. Please, nobody put this on an IMG tag here until after the episode has aired.
But (sigh)... This is the last thing Toriyama ever worked on... This is what we're getting.
20 episodes of a poor excuse of a story, with plot threads ranging from Pansy wanting to be a hero, the poor slavery conditions of the 3rd Demon Realm, Glorio struggling with his loyalties, Neva faking being senile, Arinsu apparently having much bigger plans for the Demon Realm... And it all boils down to "LOOK HOW COOL AND AMAZING AND BADASS SSJ4 IS OMFG!!!!!!! AREN'T YOU HAPPY DB FANS????!!!!!!"
I hate this show.
Well, I did leave spoiler warnings and you do get to see it animated and all. And since I've set my VPN to Hong Kong, it's time to check if the new episode's on Viu TV
Update: still not up yet. I'll check again in 20 minutes

I mean, Toriyama's Goku eventually got a job and works his ass off at the farm to pay for his wife's needs and his son's education at one of the most prestigious high schools on the planet.
It feels like this tiny little detail is constantly ignored by the fandom.

Goku caring about his family was in the original Dragon Ball manga. So you can't really say that's not an element of "Toriyama's Goku"...
As for the form itself, I think it looks really cool on kid Goku. I didn't expect it to be so sleek. I've never been a big fan of Super Saiyajin 4. I like the form, but it's not my favorite. But I think some people will be happy with it.
I don't like the introduction of so many forms. I think modern Dragon Ball would have benefited greatly from exploring Super Saiyan God to its fullest potential instead of this. It is what it is, I guess.

Not when Toriyama seems to have gotten into the meme and made it a modern gag of going, "Ha ha, Goku forgot about Pan, he's a terrible grandfather!" or "Ha ha, Goku wasn't even there to take care of his kids!"
Hell, the Super Manga has Vegeta explicitly say Goku is a great fighter, but a terrible dad.

I thought the same thing!
But I think the idea was precisely to make him look like a beast from the Demon Realm (like a werewolf or something).

Still, it's in the original manga he wrote and which is the main story of Dragon Ball. That is eternalized. But even in more recent material, Goku has never stopped caring, despite the other controversial elements that have been added to his character.

...Yeah. Thanks but no thanks, Daima, I'll stick to the real Super Saiyan 4 from GT.
We're now at least three for three on Toriyama co-opting cool things that he didn't originally make and somehow managing to downgrade them. The worst example was of course "nice guy" nuBardock in Minus, less sharply followed by "don't hug me I'm scared" nuBroli, and now it's happened again with fugly, kid-sized nu-SS4 in Daima.
And the worst part is, just like Bardock and Broli, there's going to be a swarm of folks in the fandom (mostly elsewhere) running around loudly declaring that this subpar "c~A~n~O~n" version of SS4 is the only one that's "real" or matters at all.
The only way I could see this being salvaged is if the following episode(s?) reveal that this magically-granted version of SS4 is just a temporary, halfway-realized version of a true transformation that Goku simply isn't strong enough to use for real yet, or something like that. But I know better at this point than to give modern DB that much credit.

I'd say he's 2 for 4, with Broly and "evil Goku" being hits, but he surely had a knack for taking cool things from the 90s and making them lame.
