It's more a reference to people commenting on the 'screen' in the video someone put on youtube, and seemingly ignoring/missing that my post saying I HAD the trailer existed.

Link or something please?
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Source of my 'post'...2 threads back.

Source of my knowledge, I'm the goddamn Batman... or a Blu-ray.

Screencaps... nah.

Yeah, take what I said and dumb it down a bit.

Just means they might be using different masters than they did before. Insert "OMG THEY GOT THE DRAGON BOXES" speculation.
Just because of less zooming, it doesn't mean they have the dragonbox masters. They have the original film masters, so they could easily control the zooming. You can only see if it's dragonbox by the dirt, wich was cleaned by Toei. The colors and grain amount can by controlled by Funimation I think.
Well obviously it doesn't necessarily mean they have the Dragon Box masters. I just said that because I knew people might start concluding or hoping for that. Pretty much anything, including Nth generation VHS recordings from Hawaiian TV in the 90's, is less zoomed in than FUNi's old masters. But Toei seems to have been less stingy about GT compared to DB and Z, just judging by the near-completeness of the materials (full credits, previews) on the old releases, so I think it is a bit feasible to theorize about in this case.

But how do you know they have film masters for GT? Last I heard, they've never had film for GT and only had tape masters, unless they acquired some negatives very recently just for these releases.

Huh, Didn't Toei sell all the films to Funi because they now have the Digital Dragonbox masters? Also didn't Funimation say: FRom the original filmmasters. Even though your point about GT , can be right.

Did anyone say it's horrible?
Actually it'd be cool if it stayed as an extra or something

Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I hadn't heard that before. Yowch.
I know, it kinda surprised me too when I first read it here: http://www.dbzsc.com/index.php?dbzsc=XZ-ChrisSabat

Here's the parts where they talk about GT, really interesting:
Saiyan Chronicles interview of Chris Sabat wrote:ChrisSabat (1:36:53 AM): The DragonBall GT Theme Song sucks!
Xtremez001 (1:37:29 AM): Oh, so you agree too? No offense, but rapping DBGT is just.... uh...
Xtremez001 (1:37:34 AM): well
Xtremez001 (1:37:36 AM): No comment
ChrisSabat (1:38:10 AM): Yeah. I know what ya mean! :-P It's old and we all at FUNimation think it suck as well... that Bruce Faulconer wanted it and he wont change it!
Xtremez001 (1:38:27 AM): So, it was Bruce's idea.....
ChrisSabat (1:38:34 AM): But he might if we beg him enough!
Xtremez001 (1:38:34 AM): bah, I iwsh he would change it
Xtremez001 (1:38:38 AM): wish*
Xtremez001 (1:38:59 AM): I felt horribly embarassed when I saw the guy that won that Kareoke contest
Xtremez001 (1:39:05 AM): man, he sure had guts
ChrisSabat (1:39:18 AM): That reminds me... I wanna see BruceAlmighty!
Xtremez001 (1:39:21 AM): that was the oddest thing Id see in a while
Xtremez001 (1:40:16 AM): Just a random quesiton... Doesnt anyone have a say on the theme song? I mean, is it just what Bruce says and that's it?
ChrisSabat (1:41:17 AM): We did but we didn't know how much it was going to suck till he showed it to us and since we were already nearly finished with GT it was the only thing we could do so, so far we're keeping it.
Xtremez001 (1:41:38 AM): Lord help us
ChrisSabat (1:41:46 AM): lol
Xtremez001 (1:41:58 AM): Oh well, let's at least *some* of the fans like it
Xtremez001 (1:42:03 AM): let's hope*
And there you have it, even most of Funimation hates the GT Rap. :D

I'm thinking/hoping that they include it as some sort of bonus feature, even though Funi hasn't included any bonus features in the DBZ season sets except for a next season preview and maybe a double feature preview or something (in other words, just advertisements for their other products). :?

I thought Faulconer had stopped working for FUNimation by the time they were up to GT..

..Hence the whole Mark Menza "score"

I'm not sure, but even if he was that doesn't mean that they might not have made the opening a while back just to get it out of the way, which makes sense and seems likely.

Not to mention if it were real it'd be years old at this point. Generally, it doesn't really 'fit' the sort of guy I see Sabat as, considering how in tune he was with fans on the One Piece commentary (where he admits to people fearing what voice he would use for Zoro).

Thats what Funimation doesnt get. Something that's not shot in that aspect ratio will look extremely distorted when they attemt to change it.

Funimation doesn't have to "get" anything but cashflow.

If they really wanted to distort it, they might as well flip the picture sideways and sell it. That is distorted, not widescreen.
