Hey, everyone! Over a decade ago, I put out a fandub of the 2008 Jump Super Anime Tour special. Well, I was going back over it, and there were some glaring issues with that old dub that I wanted to try to patch up, so I pulled a "Remastered Funi" and put together a new edition of the dub. I ended up doing more work on this new version than I expected, completely rerecording my Goku and Gohan performances with my current setup (with many of those lines being rewritten from scratch to better fit the flaps) and even getting my now wife to do a pickup for one of the Videl lines that's been bothering me for years. I badly adapted the script for it, so it never quite fit the flaps. Now it's so much better.
Now, this doesn't mean that I did a complete overhaul of the thing. A lot of the voice recordings are the originals with the occasional alternate take or throwing in a little extra vocalizations from other takes to mitigate some of the dead air and mismatched flaps. The sound mix is also still that old crusty one I made way back when with a few patch-ups in places where there were egregious errors (like one instance where I didn't properly match the Japanese music cue), so it doesn't exactly sound pristine. I just couldn't justify the time sink on redoing that whole mix from scratch.
With that said, I think it sounds better overall. I have more experience with sound mixing even if I'm lightyears away from being a pro. As a result, the volume levels sound a bit better - random lines don't randomly blow themselves out like on the original version except in cases where the only good take had peaking to begin with, and I added a few new sound effects to help spruce things up. I also think my performances are much better, and they sound better since I'm using an XLR mic through an interface with at least some (though not an optimal) amount of room treatment with acoustic panels and moving blankets. A far cry from busting out an old Guitar Hero mic wherever I can get a moment alone and praying.
I hope you all like this new edition of the dub, though I'll also include a folder that has the original edition along with its commentary track and some of the original extras so you don't accuse me of George Lucasing the thing. Unfortunately, I only have the .mp3 versions of the old dub - I've had several computers die on me over the years, so I don't know if I still have FLAC versions. If anyone wants to send them to me, I'll add them to the folder. I rendered FLAC and AC3 versions of the new edition, however. As usual, two versions of the dub (Japanese terms/pronunciations and English Kai terms/pronunciations) and audio only so we don't promote piracy.
And if anyone cares, "My Leg" made it in. You won't get that from Crunchyroll.

P. S. If anyone wants to work on any fandubs, hit me up. I've been wanting to tie up some loose ends.

Both folders have a version with Japanese terms and another with Funi Kai terms. The distinction between them is which edition of the dub you'll get. One of the folders has the original 2013 version of the dub and its extras while the other has the 2025 version of the dub, which has some updated performances and fixes here and there. V1 uses the Japanese terms and V2 uses the Funi Kai terms.Catsenti wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 6:35 pm Which version (English terms and Japanese terms) is which in the folder?

I'm genuinely shocked no one tried to capitalize on this back when it released in 2008. The first piece of DB animation in 11 years, with Toriyama's involvement no less. People would've bought that on home video, especially if they cleaned up the original Plan to Destroy the Saiyans two part OVA and bundle it with it as some "lost" piece of DB animation.

Fun! Could you perhaps pm me a version with music and SFX? I would love to make a Norwegian fandub of this. I'm participating in a Norwegian fandub of Kai atm and we've got access to a professional dubbing studio!
