I remember a loooong time ago, I picked up a MP3 of Sonny Strait (the voice of Kuririn) phoning someone and talking to them about the use of the phrase "Mondo Cool" (one of my personal favourite lines

) and talking in his characters voice.
But to this day, I have no clue:
- 1) Who recorded it?
2) Who is he talking to? (Guy named Terry?)
3) When was it recorded?
4) Where did it originally come from?
If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to know. It's always been an enigma for me, since nobody I talked to had any idea.

It's Jon Allen's interview with Sonny Strait. It was up here on my site back in 2001.

Not uploading any of the images, or anything, associated with the old layout (it even conflicts with the current layout! Hah!). Make due with just the text

he'd just sort of come home from work and go
(Donald Duck voice) "Hi Sonny!"
Hah my dad did the same thing!

Holy crap, the part I was looking for was on the bottom of the last page, but thanks for helping. Strange though, he was talking like he was planning to do it, and not done it just yet. Do you know where the original file was hosted?

Umm... all of the files were on my site. Jon worked on
Daizenshuu EX from, like, 2000-2001. They were mine ^^.
It astounds me, to this day, that some people think it was an ACTUAL prank call

.
Oh man... RUMOR GUIDE UPDATE!!

Ah yea I remember that file. Does anyone still have it? I went looking for it after I read the interview and I cannot find anything. I used to be able to find all sorts of ridiculous DBZ voice skits but this one was the best by far.

I remember seeing it on Kazaa as a Krillin prank call.

I'll upload it when I write up the entry for it in the "
Rumor Guide"... and correctly ID3 tag it. Jon was infamous for never ID3-ing his MP3 files, which ultimately helped lead to the rumors surrounding the files

.

The "
Rumor Guide" has been updated with a "prank call" entry. The interview is a little older than I thought; it was originally posted on 05 November 2000. The full interview text and MP3 file are available for viewing / download.

Ahh, now I Finally get it. The supposed prank call had just been a small part of the entire interview. But wasn't the rest of the interview recorded as well? hat happened to the rest?

I'm not putting up the entire collection of sound files; there's 22 total, which takes up about 11 MB. I need that space for other things

. Besides, they're Jon's, and not my own, technically... despite them originally being hosted on
Daizenshuu EX, they're not MY files, and I don't feel right putting them back up as if they were my own.
Plus, that whole series of content doesn't fit with the "style" of the site, anymore.

No more Berter and Jeice innuendo then?

Well, the dub gave us enough with Burter drooling all over Jeice.
