Goku's New Form in Daima!

I would say that from design standpoint, there of course should be in-universe explanation for some of the decisions as well as real life ones.
One of the reasons that definitely went into play is, this is SSJ4 Goku in GT, we have to differentiate it from the previous design somehow, while still keeping the callback attributes. So they probably ended up with magenta fur as instant callback, plus as yellow for SSJ would look weird (you need better contrast) and logically, extended the palette upon his hair as well.
The thinking behind the Limit Breaker forms might be similar in the core idea to this, being inspired by Kaikoen.

I kinda like the design in itself, just wonder if it has some bigger story driven implications than just being Namekian power-up similar to Gohan and Kuririn back in the day and recently Piccolo.
Here I am not afraid to say, that beside altering designs in ways that they haven't been done before, transformations in DB are quite superficial and lazy with them basically being color palette swaps instead of feeling like natural progression of what came before.
Few positive points to SSJ God, that brought into play design choice of reducing muscles, because that's not what it is about anymore in this realm of power and some interesting design details with Orange Piccolo... basically giving Super Saiyan kind of form to Piccolo (not disimilar to Golden Freeza). Everything else to me is super lazy.

That's why I dub the subsequent transformations as SSJ Gelatos... with Vegeta EGO being one of the worst offenders.

I'm glad that they're calling it Super Saiyan 4 to save us the grief of pretending that it's not Super Saiyan 4 lol. It's simpler that way lol

They had a chance this time to make Super Saiyan 4 something different...and chose not to? Doesn't help we have the God and Blue forms in Super now that use the original Saiyan hairstyle too.

I'm glad they call it SS4. We already have 3 names for Legendary SS and 2 names for Blue. Keep one thing consistent at least.

At least I can see a logical design continuity with SSG and SSB, just like with SS1, 2 and 3.

This is just... well, it's the same problem I always had with GT's SS4: a convoluted, jarring design.

I personally think there’s too much red on this design. I might’ve had less of a problem with that if Super Saiyan God weren’t a thing, but in general, I think the black hair and yellow eyes look is better.

I like how both versions of Ssj4 lack something the other has. GT's pink fur looks nowhere near as good as this crimson red, however, Daima's Ssj4 is in desperate need of the black hair present in GT's to break up the colors.

i hate to be the ''acktually guy'', but the original color of the fur is actually red. the reason why it looks pink is cuz of the film degradation that ruins the colors overtime

Good point, but still, Daima's really dark red just looks better in my opinion.

Oh so confirmed SS4? Ok thats cool. I thought they were going to call it "Ikari" or something similar as a call back to Super's Broly new form which stated as using the great ape forms power without the transformation. But just go straight with SS4 makes sense and makes it easier for merchandise and games.

Basically, the game ideas from days of old are implemented into the show...

• Like Budokai 3/Shin Budokai 2, we have SSJ4 Goku in the Z era kind of, pasted on the Z versions of characters (as an extra and no need to add in the GT character versions).

• Like Raging Blast, Vegeta got SSJ3 just because he can (and it's not a cross promo this time).

• Will Vegeta be left in the bin in a classic Z one-form-less Vegeta or will he get SSJ4 later?
  Will we see it as a last minute fodder for the rumored bug fusion, similar to GT?

I thought these parallels are quite funny. So far, these forms have no reason to be in the show other than fan service.
Does it make sense and how does it connect to the larger story across the various series?
Dragon Ball doesn't give a fuck about these things
Hence no expectations in this regard and no hard feelings, I just wonder about poor left behind Vegeta

Based on the dialogue it sounded like the transformation that Goku unlocked was incomplete until Neva used his magic because right after that training line Goku also says, " I wasn't sure if it would work, though "
