This is not Dragon Ball related, but for those interested, DR just dropped the first 30 episodes of One Piece dubbed in Danish yesterday, and I'm surprised about how good the dub is. It's not perfect, but I've been enjoying it so far. It's available for free on DR TV. It requires an account, but it's free and not geo-locked, as far as I can tell (though, due to licensing, One Piece may or may not be available to internationals without a VPN). Hopefully, this and Dragon Ball Super will lead to more anime getting released here (Who knows, maybe they already have more planned) :)

Thanks, but that unfortunately doesn't work. Here's what it's said:
Trin 2: Bekræft fast dansk bopælsadresse med NemID

Dette gør du ved at klikke på "Min konto"-knappen herunder for at komme til konto-siden, hvor der er et link til MitID-validering.

Når du har gjort dette, så skal du blot gå tilbage til DRTV - og du er nu klar til at se alt indhold fra EU og EØS-lande.

I found a way to access with a chrome extention called 1 click VPN proxy! It works to stream DB Super from DR! Urban VPN apparently works too

Watched the first episode and so far I only really like Goten, Trunks, Satan and Boo's voices. Everyone else sounds rather ackward and reserved. Like they are afraid to go all out and risk losing the voice. Goku sounds exactly like he did in the old dubs, and by that I mean not great. There is just something about his performance that makes me feel terribly uncomfortable. Before today I was half a mind watching through Super again just for the heck of it, but I think I'm done for now. I also skimmed through the other episodes, just to get a taste of the other voices, and I don't feel like I'm going to miss much.

I'm somewhat disappointed but not terribly shocked. Danish dubbing is rarely all that spectacular. It's good that it exists as a gateway for kids to watch Dragon Ball though, and kids probably won't mind or even notice the acting quality

I've made it to episode 2 so far, and I've found most of the voices / acting to be either good or decent... then I heard Peter Vinding as Vegeta... yikes. I've criticized Kristian Boland's Vegeta before, but I'm willing to boil that down to a poor script and lacking directions, and I think he could have been much better than he ended up being. But Peter Vinding doesn't fit the character one bit, with really sub-par acting.

This is genuinely really disappointing on top of the One Piece dub (which they've confirmed they'll release at least 31 more episodes of, possibly in November) which I've genuinely been enjoying a lot with only one character I didn't like, but it wasn't a major one and it was more due to the interpretation of the character than anything else. However, Dragon Ball super is dubbed by KM Studio, while One Piece is dubbed by Iyuno, and that's probably the reason for the difference in quality.

Did Jan Tellefsen return as the director as well?

Shows how much voices is subjective... For me, this is a dub I can re watch DB Super with. I will update my post as I watch the dub. I currently have just spot checked episodes here and there.

Narrator: sounds nice.

Videl - nice tone and play
Goten - he sounds adorable and I like that he really sounds like a child. Makes me feel when I hear him.
Bulma - sounds fine, I like the sound of the voice and the acting is fine.
Trunks - he's okay, voice is fitting the character.
Vegeta - episode 2: too bad this new cast is bad. They tried to cast something that sounds similar to Horikawa's current voice but the acting is not great. He sounds irritated ALL the time is really over the top.
At least as the show progresses his screams get better. But what a missed opportunity here. I never liked the danish voice for Vegeta in DBZ, but here he is worse.
Goku - he's a really good actor, is really good at both goofy and serious Goku. My favorite Goku that I have ever heard in any dub besides Nozawa.
Satan - he is alright
Beerus: sounds alright but maybe a bit too serious? I like it though.
Whis: a great cast when he expresses emotions while eating.
Boo: amazing how close he is to the japanese version. Really a shame the Boo saga never got dubbed. Such an amazing cast.
Kaio - I remember him being very close to the japanese version in DBZ, but here he is kinda disappointing compared to that. Too dark and raspy voice but he is fine.
Gohan - I like the sound of his voice and his play sounds fine.
Kibito Kai - okay-ish.
Oracle fish - perfect.
Kamesennin/ Master Roshi - really good cast.
Piccolo: great cast. I like the sound of his voice and his acting.
Kuririn: sounds okay, but a tad too high pitched.
Kuririn chibi: sounds good.
Chibi Goku: I wish there was a danish DB dub. Such amazing cast.
Chichi - she's fine and fitting.
Freeza: sounds okay but not good enough. The voice is not fully fitting, the acting is not quite there. Too bad, Freeza as I remember him in DBZ had a more fitting voice and better play.

Here are some more of my thoughts on the Danish voices:

Personally, I think Whis' acting is quite lacking. Beerus is not bad, but I'm not convinced. Kasper Leisner is a good actor, when he's properly casted. Jørn Gottlieb was the perfect narrator in DBZ, with a really pleasant, natural and neutral voice. Kasper Leisner feels like he's trying to hype what's happening up a bit too much. This might just be a me thing, though. Buu, however, is really amazing.

Kaio and Master Roshi were originally voiced by Michael Boesen, who truly made both characters come alive. Roshi was alright, but I still need to see more to determine if I actually like him, but Benjamin Kitter as Kaio just isn't it.

I know I've stated it before, but Peter Vinding's Vegeta is really just bad. I just can't fathom how anyone thought he was fitting for the role, or how such poor acting was acceptable.

Whis comes alive in Danish when he's about to eat cakes. Too bad Kaio and Kamesennin got recasted. Or did the original va pass away...?

Michael Boesen seems to have died in 2012. May he rest in peace.

I haven't gotten to that part with the cake yet, but I felt Whis's acting was lacking in episode 2. I've been more busy than I'd have liked this weekend, so haven't gotten around to watch much of it.

I have watched 10 episodes of the dub now. Voices that stands out positvely are Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Goku, Boo, Beerus, Ten Shin Han, Yamcha. Although these last two don't get a lot of time on screen. The Pilaf gang is great. Videl is great. Bulma is good, Chichi is fine. Vegeta is... he is simply not a great actor and his screams aren't perfect. He tries really hard to imitate current Horikawa and fails at it, is my conclusion. I will update the thead as I watch more full episodes.

Just confirming the director Jan Tellefsen stated at the recent J Popcon in Denmark that 49 more episodes are coming.

That will bring the Danish dub of Dragon Ball Super to 76 episodes, so nice to know the entire Universe 6 and Goku Black arcs will be done.

I hope this continues so Danish fans can finally have a complete Dragon Ball dub.

I went to J-Popcon earlier this month and attended the panel with Jan Tellefsen and the other cast members, and I can corroborate that he announced that nearly 50 new dub episodes had been commissioned by DR.

I messaged DR about the new episdoes, and they had this to say:

"Vi er snart klar med de nye episoder af Dragon Ball Super! De første afsnit får premiere fredag d. 11 april og så vil de udkomme løbende derfra."

Here's a translation:

Yup, I was also surprised that it would be this soon, but they didn't say how many episodes we'd be getting. If these do well too, we might actually get the Universe Survival arc as well, and for once we'd have a Dragon Ball series fully dubbed in Danish xD
