Is Sparking Zero tanking?

Post by budokaifanatic007 » Mon Mar 17, 2025 3:50 pm

I haven’t touched the game in a few weeks but after the recent tournament I looked into the general consensus of the game and boy… it’s not looking too good. I can’t really wrong them either, other than custom battle there are no other modes that have replay value. Do you guys think this game is tanking/dying?

The tournament modes are kinda lackluster, it's as brief as it could possibly get. And the match-ups are always the worst, for some reason the strongest never wins.

The 1P vs CPU is by far what I play the most, and I don't get tired of that at all. At all. Not even with the shortness of stages.

But I think the game would benefit greatly from a silly and simple story mode. One that you could chose any character out of the 180, and go from Raditz to Buu (or Raditz to Omega Sheron/Broly). I would wear the shit out of that mode.

I haven't touched it since finishing the story mode. There are only 10 stages in the game, and the actual gameplay is nowhere near as good as Tenkaichi 3's. There's also a severe lack of game modes, so all in all everything about the game just screams unfinished. Even the DLC not coming with any new stages makes it seem unfinished as well. Outside of pretty graphics, this game just has nothing going for it. If I want to play a Dragon Ball game, I'll just play Team BT4's Tenkaichi 4 mod. It's fascinating that a group of fans can put out better products than these multi-million $$$ companies.

As someone who plays DB Legends more than DB Sparking! Zero, I would say yes, because DB Sparking! Zero doesn't have a lot of in-game content as DBZ Sparking! Meteor (Budokai Tenkaichi 3), which makes the game seem rushed and unfinished (because the game was released on the same day DB Daima premiered in Japan). And DB Legends is more fun to play than Sparking! Zero (although it can get boring after several hours) despite being a P2W gacha game.

Wholeheartedly agree here, game has nothing outside of multiplayer and custom battle. I think the competitive angle BN was trying to go for is what also kinda killed this game, the tournament proved it. Now I’m a little saddened that the backlash might kill the likelihood of good DB games going forward.

That is why I want a Dragon Ball multiplayer party game (like Mario Party) or any type of Dragon Ball game (like, say, a Mario-Kart-esque DB racing game) that isn't just a fighting game.

This is the latest version of Team BT4's Tenkaichi 4 mod. Anyone disappointed in Sparking Zero should check this out. It has more characters, more stages, more game modes, etc... The next major update (coming later this year) will include a long awaited super and ultimate attack customization like the one in Raging Blast.
