How would you feel if all of Funimation's DB home video releases are dub-only?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Let's say all of Funimation's DB home video releases only include the English dubs (and in some cases accompanying Closed Captioning for the respective English dubs). Would you still buy Funimation's DB home video releases (including Funimation's DBZ Dragon Box DVDs), albeit dub-only?

About a decade ago when I only watched the dub I would have, but once Super started I gave the Japanese version a try and got used to it. So now I prefer my uncut DVDs and Blu-Rays to include both the dub and the Japanese audio as standard.

Now, if there was a home release of the Westwood and Blue Water dubs, which are edited products and can't include the Japanese version I'd certainly buy them ad those are the dubs I grew up with and have nostalgia for. At the same time I think it would alienate too many fans for them to be the only physical releases around.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

If Dragon Ball had a really good dub, both in terms of voice acting and script accuracy, then maybe. However, that's not the case, classic DB's dub is some of the worst work ever produced, so hell no.

Really bad, asi I get some basics in Japanese and know the story, it might not be such a problem watching the original, but thanks to Funimation, and as weird as it sounds, we've got some great transcript from Daimao Simmons.

The dub for me is atrocious, but that is mostly thanks to watching German dub as a kid, with French one later on TV (and I must say that the french dub isn't great either). I got used to Japanese through games and watch anime in general mostly in Japanese.
On that OP question, it would be a bummer of course from many standpoints.
It's just sad at this point, how the quality of visuals is always screwed somehow on Funimation releases.
If there was dub only, we could still splice JP voice track onto the dub only footage in this day and age no prob.

Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.

Kai sucks in any language, I don’t care enough about GT or Super to own either of them and Z hasn’t had an affordable decent release anyways. So those are all series I’ll probably never own even having the Japanese audio available

So that leaves og Dragon Ball. While the Funimation dub had many many MANY problems especially once we get to the Tenshinhan arc and beyond where just….wow at times I do have a soft spot for the dub and would probably still own the Blue Bricks with English audio as the only option.

I mean...this is exactly what it was like being a broke, younger Dragon Ball fan in the US in the 1990s and the early 2000s. I don't think I began collecting the series on unedited DVD until the Orange Bricks came out lol.

Anyway, it sucked, so no thanks lol
