Post by M16U3L2015 » Thu May 08, 2025 12:10 pm

A new set of 42 volumes of the entire manga plus 42 illustrations made by various mangakas will be released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball.

"This fabulous collectible comes in four separate Dragon Ball-themed boxes,
which are made to hold all 42 volumes of the Dragon Ball manga, along with the exciting exclusive items that come with this set!

Dragon Ball Illustrations From 42 Fabulous Artists!
Each volume in this collection has a double cover featuring a newly drawn illustration in addition to the original cover art.

The illustrations used for these double covers
were originally drawn for Saikyo Jump's Dragon Ball Super Gallery,
a special monthly Jump comics project in which a total of 42 different artists created unique variants of the Dragon Ball covers!"

I'm not sure why they'd do a new set of the original Tankobon when a far superior Kanzenban re-release would've been better and more logical.

Because this was specifically a set of 42 new images drawn in reference to / celebration of the original 42 tankobon covers (not 34 kanzenban cover images).

Give it to me straight - how difficult will this be to pre-order in the United States? I've used Buyee in the past once or twice, and I've used Amazon Japan a loooooong time ago. I really want this.

Can anybody give me some pointers?

Amazon JP can ship directly to the US. I use it every month for V-Jump and Saikyo Jump, and historically for home video releases. Unfortunately, they've been restricting the ordering of certain items lately (namely Blu-rays/DVDs), but books have by and large been easy enough.

This new set is up for pre-order right now:

https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4089084806

The ¥31,800 list price plus the cheaper of the two shipping costs listed for me at ¥12,217 comes out to ¥43,041, which is juuuuust under $300 right now.

But yeah, you can just pre-order it directly.

Perfect, I'll get right on this. Thank you!

I suppose I should have expected as much but...
"as well as Akira Toriyama's original covers"
No? Those are not the original covers. Those are the redesigns from the mid-2000s. I guess it's still Toriyama's original illustrations, but I just do not like the overall design of the newer covers and really wish they hadn't changed them.

And yet despite that, and despite the fact that I own the entire Kanzenban, I... still kinda want this?

Thanks for the information.

The artists sounds... interesting.
This will be in Japanese only, correct? I might have to wait until there is a English version of it... for Spanish I don't even get my hopes high...

I guess I will wait until someone gets their hands on it and they can tell me wether or not the manga is censored. Specifically talking about Original DB.

If it is of a good quality and uncensored. I will buy it. I don't mind going into 24 months debt on my credit card.
