It's what's happened when every Great Ape we've seen had their tail cut off, even for Golden Ape Baby in GT, so... the same thing would probably happen for someone in Super Saiyan 4, yeah.

In GT, probably. In Daima, I'm not sure, considering how Goku doesn't even have a tail in base.

Daima really dropped the ball with that aspect of Ssj4. If he doesn't need a tail to reach the form or have it in base, why add it at all ? Just design Ssj4 without it. With Goku getting turned back into a kid, it would've been the perfect opportunity to have his tail naturally grow back as well. Remember, he said he figured out early on (before Daima's events) that Ssj4 existed, but just couldn't access it. Instead of Neva's magic, have his regrown tail be the key. I love Daima, but the more I think about it, the more I realize it was in desperate need of a second draft to iron out these types of issues.

For DBGT all logic seems to point that yes, he would lose the transformation, same as Ozaru.

For Daima, maybe it would not, as Yuji mentioned, since the tail does not need to be there for the transformation to occur, I think we can safely say that by cutting it, nothing would happen, besides hurting them that is. In other words I think it would be similar to getting an arm cut off, or losing any other limb.

Vegetath34th they added the tail to resemble the SSJ4 from GT.

I don't mind that the tail is not needed because it gives the SSJ a more kind of mystical origin, or at least it gives me the impression that Goku had to do some mental growing, in order to withold that much power, because SSJ3 was a transformation that (besides being ugly af) would cost Goku too much effort to keep. Daima SSJ4 is a way to reconnect with his primal saiyan form, that is why I say it is mystical.

They turn into cute girls and then beat each other up some more.

(There's no official answer and I doubt it really matters either way, you can tell any kind of story with any kind of answer).
