There was a time when I played a ton of "Arena of valor" so I have a good idea of how this is going to play out.

I had an hour of time on Steam for the game, but as lovely as it looks, I feel like I won't pick it up to play it frequently unless I want its models for Xenoverse 2 mods.
So, you decided to read my signature, eh?

I will say I love that they’re actually having fun with the alternate outfits instead of just giving us the same Cookie Cutter ones we’ve been served since freaking Budokai 2. Like how in the world is it twenty twenty freaking FIVE, 23 years after the first Budokai on PS2 and we’re JUST NOW getting a playable Bad Man Vegeta skin that he can not only transform in but also has a unique alternate palette?! That’s actual effort and just some of the small but important things we’ve been begging for, for literal decades, it’s kinda insulting all things considered. Driving School Goku and Piccolo, Tuxedo Krillin, Fat Boo in both a Z and Super version of Mr.Satans outfit?! Like c’mon, THIS is the fun stuff that a lot of the games were missing.

I don’t expect this game to do any crazy numbers but it just might be a day one buy for me even if it only lasts 6 months to year. If all I get is 8-9 months of play time with a potential Majin GT Vegeta or SS3 Goku in his interview suit for Gohan’s school from Movie 8 then sign me up. Nowadays for me this is much more exciting than playing a watered down version of a fighting system that was fun 18 years ago with little to no love given to the characters.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Reviews for the game:

Game launches either today or tomorrow, I have read conflicting reports.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Gekishin Squadra is one of the best looking DB games that I'll probably never play. Character models, animations, even the color palette – all great stuff.

That's it. That's the post.

This game RULES!! I’ve never even sniffed at a MOBA game prior to this one and while the game play isn’t my typical forte it’s pretty fun. The Biggest compliment this game has going for it though is that the characters have never had THIS MUCH life poured into them in a video game it surpasses FighterZ, Super DBZ, Budokai 3/Infinite World, Raging Blast 2 and Sparking Zero in character uniqueness and vibrance. I’ve never been awed at just looking at a character on the Home Screen and watching their idle animations, the ACTUAL EFFORT put into the freaking alternate palettes let alone the secondary costumes AND THEIR alternate colors, it’s really freaking nuts looking at how much love is put into this obvious half budget game when most of the triple A titles walk the same boring line of status quo..

It’s just a shame it probably won’t live longer than a year.

MOBA games last long. People are still playing Arena of Valor. Long after the DC superheroes have been removed.

That’s good to know, I’m so curious about what other fun aesthetics and what not they’ll add to the game down the line.

OK, so I went for it, nothing to lose, free to play. At least it’s a recent DB game that rewards you with something and is live.

I had fun! Doesn’t look bad, except on iPhone.
It plays really well on console, the matchmaking is fast.
If you’re not paired with noobs, at least the loss is fast as well. I did buy that SSJ3 Goku (bought the gems for few bucks, to be precise) and have to say, that outside of different look, cosmetics and some cool attacks, it doesn’t really make difference. You can get your ass handed in by pretty much everyone else, if they play for longer and leveling him is quite a chore.

On the other hand, the game on mobile is complete crap.
The controls are really bad, unresponsive at times, which made all my three battles virtually unplayable and with no chances against other players.
Which is a shame, as I was excited about the option to play it on go while keeping the progression and keep the gaming on PS5 for bigger and more epic titles.
And might be that I still have iPhone 11, with lesser tech specs than up to date offerings, but the game is on low graphics settings and looks horrendous. Like bad port from PSP in comparison to the PS5 crispiness.
Different games, but when you go from Legends with full settings to newer game like this, it’s quite a punch in the eyes.
But that doesn’t matter much anyway, the shit gameplay on phone kills all the joy that is left.

But fun game nonetheless for some after work multiplayer.

I have enjoyed this game so far but I do think it is damned by essentially being a mobile based game and live service gacha above all else rather than a full on MOBA game akin to LoL to DOTA.

The short match format leaves the game without much depth and while the initial balancing wasn't so off there is a very noticeable power gap with the appearance of SSJ3 Goku. I imagine that balancing will fall off more and more as it continues. At the same, I am sure a hypothetical full game would be another barrier to attract a fanbase. It can take a few minutes to find a match at the higher ranks for specific roles already which may not be a good sign. I hopeful and interested in the future of this game but I could very easily see it go the way of Breakers.

This one is F2P so I think it'll live better, anyone can join in whenever. Far better visuals too.
Though I think having an on-going DB anime or manga would do wonders for it's longevity since the franchise supports itself.

I wonder if my phone is shit then, because it's virtually unplayable with those controls. Mostly the movement. It doesn't always register right and it would be better to have it tap based.
But I have no issues with holding thumb down controls for movement in Legends or other games.
I am determined to give the game a few chances on mobile, but I will probably rate the portable version in app store with 1 star, sorry not sorry.

With controller on the other hand, the game plays perfect.

I'm used to playing MOBA games on the cell phone and have been playing arena of Valor like that for years but when it came for Nintendo Switch, it was a disaster! Gekishin Squadra plays very much like Arena of Valor and works better on the cell phone.

I haven't kept up with the roster in a minute, but I'm surprised to see DB BULMA is coming! (along with DB Gokū and 4th form Freeza)

Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

These threads are so dead :wtf: I guess people who enjoy these games just aren't interested in forums? (or at least this forum). I'm personally not really interested in the game as well, not my type, I'm a casual guy. But I do hope the game continues being successful and healthy. The characters and their animations look really good in my opinion.
I do follow some of the news regarding it though and how all the Seasons pretty much had Saiyajin characters or Hype characters only, with a few exceptions here and there.

I'm surprised by the characters they choose for this Season. For me it's courageous and a good thing. Obviously people from the west would complain, unfortunately most people in the west only care about hype characters, they can't live without Adult Goku and his transformations, Vegeta, Gohan, The Big Villains and the fusions. Good to see this season taking some fresh air away from those characters. The options will dwindle very quickly if they only focus on hype characters, and that's not good if players really want a long life for this game. This only worked for games like FighterZ.
It also serves to please the Japanese audience more, it's necessary. I liked how the 3 characters look, I just think it could have been Piccolo Daimao instead of Freeza. I said they were courageous, but choosing Freeza as one of the characters also says that they weren't 100% confident that focusing only on Pre-Raditz DB would be enough. Well, they need to sell somehow. Still, they did a good work.

Also, isn't one of the new adult Goku skins a reference to this Toriyama art? Looks great.

Well, there's not much about this game. I did play it quite a lot on launch, even whaled some bucks into SSJ3 Goku, but it got boring quite fast.
I would've maybe played the game, if controls on mobile weren't broken for me as the game was ideal on the go. Have better things to play at home, sadly.

Yeah I get and agree with you, and it seems the rest of the forum thinks the same way in regards to it lol. I expected people here to at least comment about the animations and references though, but it's fine, people here also do not talk about the other two mobile games. They do talk about the console games though which is a good thing, as they're more appealing in content.

I wouldn't be discouraged by general consensus tho, discuss whatever you're interested in :)
Legends was quite praised in the past as the game was awesome and not as predatory as other mobile games are, but the lack of new content and mostly re-releasing the same characters with just new card arts and boring uninteresting story going for years did it's thing (with the RNG shifting more into the classic gambling territory, with zero options to invest in what you want, as the chances are damn low even if you've poured hundreds of dollars in). Mobiles are cool on launch, mostly, but nothing much going on later... Unfortunately, consoles are where it's at and there is not that much gamers in general here.
Plus too much other stuff in general and mostly, better games out there than genre clones with franchise IP slapped on it and so little time
