"Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I am very curious about what Kazuhiko Torishima has to say about Toyotarou's work. With how harsh he was towards Toriyama I imagine he'd eviscerate Toyotarou. Looking forward to the panel regardless of if something is announced or not.

I seem to remember him being extremely critical of Toyotaro's work on Super a few years ago.Akiyama wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 5:56 pm I am very curious about what Kazuhiko Torishima has to say about Toyotarou's work. This url should give you the part of where it's talked about:YamiGoku wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 9:04 am The next VJump will get an illustration of UI Goku and Beast doing a Kame ha, also will get info about a project?

If Saikyo_Devin is right, it could be either a collective toy figure, or a new manga project:

DO NOT get your hopes up. These people hype up the smallest things, so it could be Super branded chips for all we know. The actual announcements are made in December at Jump Festa.

I agree. But I remember being hyped for a few Jump Festas (last one included) thinking we'll either get an announcement or big news and then nothing useful came from it. Meanwhile Daima got announced at NYCC.Vegeta th3 4th wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 2:08 pm DO NOT get your hopes up. It's like a trope by now. I remember all the internet being, let's wait for Jump Festa for last few years, they will definitely announce Super continuation etc. and it went by with nothing much.IntangibleFancy wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 10:55 pmI agree. I'm not saying it will happen for sure, just that it's more likely to happen at a big event, rather than a random issue of V-Jump.MCDaveG wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 8:16 amIt's like a trope by now. Nothing worth anticipating, just as I predicted. The real announcements are made at conventions, not magazines. We have San Diego comic con next month, New York comic con in October, and Jump Festa in December. If anything major is going to be announced this year (animation, manga, or games), it'll be at one of these three.sangofe wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 1:38 pm It was revealed to be a toy:

As a figure collector the new figure is quite exciting. Not manga continuation exciting but still very cool.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Yeah, that's on July 3rd. Has anything DB related ever been announced there ?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
No but why do they have to announce at the same places as before?Vegeta th3 4th wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 2:06 amYeah, that's on July 3rd. Has anything DB related ever been announced there ?
The panel with toyotarou and Torishima is on the 6th.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
To be totally realistic, New York Comic con is the safest bet. May be best not to hope for any other eventsangofe wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 11:35 pmYou forget Japan Expo.Vegeta th3 4th wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 2:15 pmNothing worth anticipating, just as I predicted. Toyotaro having Torishima to supervise him is good, because he won't hold back with his comments.
Would rather a more talented DB japanese artist as Fenyo or Kakeru to take over, but I will take this.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro

Well, we have more information about the future of manga from a press conference with Toyotaro, Torihima and Nakatsuru at Japen Expo 2025 in France:
"Ok adding one more for those of you wanting info about whether Toyotaro could continue the story without Toriyama (credited as “writer/author”)
The answer is YES BUT.
Since the beginning, he’d write the story and then send it to Toriyama for approval. Toriyama also sent him his own stories and Toyotaro would interpret them and send them back for approval.
As such, asking them about things where they have literally no agency over is useless.
“I don’t know? You should ask Shueisha, Toei and the company in charge of Toriyama’s estate” was Torishima’s response to this question (about the future of the franchise)
AS SUCH >
As “part author”, he said: continuing without Toriyama-sensei would be "not easy but not impossible".
BUT he does not decide.
“ask Shueisha/Toei/the company in charge of 鳥山 estate”
There was a question about the future and direction of the franchise as a whole and the answer was “why ask US?”. As I’ve stated before, Nakatsuru is a chara designer, animator and freelancer. Torishima doesn’t even work for Shueisha anymore. And Toyotaro doesn’t hold the rights."

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Yeah, this isn't at all surprising. Dragon Ball Super will return when Shueisha, the Toriyama estate and Toei Animation agree.

If nothing is announced by the end of the year, then it may be time to accept that Super will remain incomplete.
