New trailer that promises more characters in the future. Doesn’t say anything about costumes, stages, or single player content, though. The big takeaway is that they haven’t given up on this game yet.

Good.
Maybe they'll tease a new season pass.

Their official statement is this:

"The next DLC is already in the pipeline, bringing new characters and more. More info coming January 2026!"

Sounds like it's not just additional characters.

I don't think there are that many characters left to add:

Tamagami 1, 2, 3
Kid SS3 Goku

Super 17
Rildo
Ledjic
Ice and Fire Shadown Dragons
GT Vegeta
GT Trunks
GT Gohan (skin of Z Gohan)
GT Goten

Piccolo Daimao
Ma Jr.
Tambourine
Timbal
Nam
King Chappa
Arale

Shin
Yakon
Buff Buu
Paikuhan

Turles' crew
Cooler's crew
Slug's crew
Pilaf's crew

And I wouldn't even expect to get all of them. I would settle for the most important guys of each series + new stages + more offline modes.

I think a Sparking Meteor Expansion pack that adds all the missing characters and stages would be awesome

I wonder how much that'd cost? 40 bucks? I'd hope they'd throw in some extra modes from BT3 too

I believe there's 31 characters from Tenkaichi 3 missing and over a dozen stages

Give me a Raging Blast 2 pack that adds the OG SSJ3 Vegeta, LSSJ3 Broly, Tarble, Hatchiyack, Neiz, Dore, Android 14 and 15 while you're at it.

But thinking about it, maybe it'd be better to go by arc to add characters never seen before like the rest of the Shadow Dragons, Ledgic, etc.

I'm not gonna lie a Tenkaichi 3.pack with the missing characters and stages and a RB2 pack thst does the same, I'd probably drop 30 each if there was a couple months between them.

I really want Kid SS3 for Daima Goku as well as SS and God for Shallot.

The thing to me with these extra characters is that due to the game's structure, they are less deep to play as and bore soon. There isn't any deep mastery, such as with FighterZ.

OK! Nice!

Now I really hope they expand on costumes for the characters that are already in (please, EOZ Goku, Movie 9 Gohan). Put them in shop, put them as reward for some game modes. The game is fun, there is just nothing to do, besides ranking in online.

At least we will, hopefully, know more in January way before Battle Hour, unless it is just some sort of teaser. But it's something at least!
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel
PS5: Dynamixx88
Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.

I fully expect more Goku/Vegeta transformations (Daima versions) and more Daima characters. I doubt they're going to touch anything more from the old shows/movies, they'll probably go ham on Daima to ignite interest on the show or invest on the already established interest.

Extra costumes cost a lot of time/money to make due to the way lighting and such works in the engine.

Yeah that's kind of how it's always been with this series. It is less focused on being a "real" fighting game and more focused on providing lots of different matchups for the superfans to play out. Which is why ideally they should just keep pumping new characters and stages into it for years and years, cause that's how it'll really reach that potential. I could easily see like 100+ more characters getting put into this thing if they really want to and if fans are willing to pay up.

I'm glad we now have Fighterz as an alternative for people who are deeper into fighting game mechanics cause back in the Tenkaichi days it'd be like "Well I guess there's Super Dragon Ball Z" lol. You guys remember that game? It was so cool to be able to play as adult Chi-Chi.

Yeah, to me there's nothing "wrong" with less deep characters but they bore me a lot faster. Ideally, I would like to see some story content or even just challenges with these characters as a way to use them in unique situations. Heck, just give every character a Street Fighter like arcade mode in which they face 10 opponents related to the character, where if you beat it you get an extra character color..

Shouldn't be that hard to implement.

I've also grown bored of the scarcity of modes the game has to offer. I mean, even if it invites you to do your own thing, then let me use every Z capsule (or whatever it's called) in offline modes and not just in Custom Battle mode.

I think the game could greatly benefit from some simple game modes seen in previous installments. Nothing too fancy, really.

Now that we'll probably be in another DLC content drought until next year, I thought I'd post all the custom battles I've made in this thread if anyone here plays on PS5 and is interested. I must again swear by the fact that there's a lot of cool stuff you can do in this mode, so feel free to try 'em out!

Standalone episodes:

Dragon Ball Super: Demon Realm Arc series episodes (this is basically an alternate take of Daima's events if they were under the Super brand/continuity):

There's also a new Frieza raid happening now, which admittedly isn't much.

I hope the next DLCs are beefier in content with stages, costumes and maybe some story content.

An example for a Dragon Ball Super DLC Pack:

Free Update -
Characters -
Story Mode -
Costumes -

I'd pay 20 per pack for packs like this.

Seeing that the story mode of this game has all the technical prowess of a Powerpoint presentation, this is the one game that could easily do cheap story updates.

I think OG DB and GT should definitely get story packs but it'd be cool if they add a little extra content to existing characters. Movie content branching off from the main story would be cool.

Like before the Raditz fight in Goku's story it goes backwards to Garlic Jr. or after the Cell Saga it diverges to the Fusion Reborn movie

I think we need a Future Trunks (Z) story mode added too, it's weird how it just jumped to Zamasu.

So many of the story modes reek of cut content. Whether they were gonna actually PUT moments that were cut from the manga/animes in them is arguable, but the fact that they left so much content on the floor that they really should've is staggering. I'd honestly just like a DLC that not only adds characters & stages, but adds the missing moments back into the stories. Because we got dumb story modes for Goku Black & Jiren of all people that ate up space & were ultimately pointless, but Vegeta's missing everything from Super & Trunks is missing his Z story beats? Ok, bro.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.
