It's great to see the game making a comeback.

I also prefer GT SS4 Goku, and was disappointed he wasn't an install back when GT Goku dropped in Season 2. But the Daima version is still cool, and makes more sense from a marketing standpoint.
Super Buu would be so fun and versatile

But it'd be a lot of work for ASW or whoever's making the updates/dlc now

I just wanted to say how happy I am with the addition of Super Saiyajin 4 Goku. Funny enough, I was trying to convince my friend to buy the game, and the very next day they announced a new character. Perfect timing!

The online community is still going strong, the game is frequently on sale, and the characters are really well done.

Definitely my favorite Dragon Ball game.

Isn't it strange how we never got a playable black-haired Super Saiyan 4, outside of GT Goku's super move? Gogeta also rocks the red hair. Considering that models for GT SS4 Goku and Vegeta are already in the game, and there are old unused sound files for x10 Kamehameha, I would not be too surprised if Daima SS4 Goku comes with a cheap extra for buyers: new skins for SS Goku and Vegeta that turn them Super Saiyan 4. That would appease the GT diehards somewhat.

Anyway, very pleasantly surprised by this news. I have a hunch that this doesn't signal a full revival of the game by any means. Like Labcoat #21, this feels like a very belated bonus gift to the fans, and an opportunity to patch out some unwanted gameplay elements. With any luck though, if the new DLC sells well, it may show Bandai and ArcSys that there's interest in a sequel (not that they really need any more proof).

Should’ve clarified, I meant GT SS4 skins. Gameplay wise, they’d play identically to the base roster SS1 Goku and Vegeta, with a few cosmetic changes like changing Goku’s level 3 into a red x10 Kamehameha and Vegeta’s level 3 into a Final Shine Attack.

Why skins for the Super Saiyan versions? As has been discussed, the Daima SS4 model will probably have very different proportions to GT SS4. If they bring in animations based on the Gomah battle, like Goku running on all fours, that might look weird on GT SS4 Goku.

Due to the intricate lighting model skins cost a LOT of time/money unfortunately.

I hope we get a Dramatic Finish with Super Saiyan 4 Goku, but unless they sort of consider him to be GT-compatible and finish Baby off, there's not many others it could work with.

Perhaps some sort of Super Saiyan 4 Goku VS Super Saiyan Blue Goku, much like we had Blue Gogeta VS SS4 Gogeta?

Anyway, if you need a reminder of what a nice touch the Dramatic Finishes were, I compiled them with care and anime music. It's handy since the game lacks a "Dramatic Finish Theater Mode".

I do wonder if this surprise Ssj4 Goku is a one-off character or the first in a new season pass. If we are getting a 4th season pass, then these are the 5 characters I'd like to see (I'm assuming it's 5 due to that being the number of the 3rd pass):

Ssj4 Goku (Daima representation).
Tao or King Piccolo (DB representation)
Dabura (Z representation)
Toppo (Super representation)
Omega Shenron (GT representation)

What better way to celebrate 40 years of Dragon Ball than by having a character from each era ?

I do think it would be cool to have a new character from each era, but I think it'd be way cooler to get both Tao Pai Pai and Piccolo Daimao.

King Piccolo would be cool because we'd get a GT Goku vs King Piccolo dramatic finish.

Also speaking of Piccolo, I want Raditz so we can get the Full-Nelson Special Beam Cannon dramatic finish.

My picks for new characters would definitely be Piccolo Daimaoh, Tao Pai Pai, and Arale. I still think the game lacks representation from OG Dragon Ball, even after Roshi came out.

From other eras of the franchise, I'd like to see Dabura, Majin Vegeta, and maybe Toppo. Now that the manga-exclusive arcs are being adapted into the anime, I expect and wish we'll see Moro and Ultra Ego Vegeta as well.
