Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
Or maybe they didn't want two same-named forms in the poster art and settled on the newest one? GT SS4 continues getting to videogames and merch to this day, this poster doesn't indicate anything.
I still remember when people doomposted that FighterZ or Sparking Zero wouldn't have GT content. We saw how both of that turned out.
They will never neglect additional fanfare.

Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
Why, exactly, would they use the old, outdated SSJ4 form from a 30 years old show instead of the shiny, new form from a 10 months old show?
Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

I mean, with that logic why bother showing old regular Super Saiyan and not just Super Saiyan BlueSupremeKai25 wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 4:50 am Why, exactly, would they use the old, outdated SSJ4 form from a 30 years old show instead of the shiny, new form from a 10 months old show?

Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
Because regular Super Saiyan still appears in modern Dragon Ball content, like Daima. Same reason for using Base Goku. Besides, it's showing all the forms Goku achieved throughout the decades, but they are not going to have two versions of SSJ4, because it would be redundant and waste space.SSGpotota wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 6:13 amI mean, with that logic why bother showing old regular Super Saiyan and not just Super Saiyan BlueSupremeKai25 wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 4:50 am Why, exactly, would they use the old, outdated SSJ4 form from a 30 years old show instead of the shiny, new form from a 10 months old show?
Daima came out not even 10 months ago, of course they're going to use the SSJ4 they introduced in their shiny new show. Also, with the crimson hair and crimson-colored fur, it looks way better juxtaposed with the god forms from Super.
You know, now that I see them in the same poster, SSJG and Daima's SSJ4 really do look alike.
I'd rather point out that Daima, by the very word of the producers, is a celebration of GT meant to be watched by all the 1990s Millennials who grew up with GT and now have kids of their own.
How, exactly, are they "erasing" GT when their latest show is literally a celebration of and an homage to GT? It's still SSJ4. Just because it's got a better-looking gi and a more Toriyama feel to it doesn't change the fact it's still SSJ4. They're not erasing anything.

They're not going to stop selling Dragon Ball GT related merchandise. They probably only had space for one version and went with the one that Toriyama oversaw more directly.
Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
Yeah, "erasing" may be an exaggeration, but I feel like the two SSJ4 forms are different enough (visually and conceptually) that they could've put them both side by side without feeling redundant. They have more differences between them than SSJ and SSJ2 at leastSupremeKai25 wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 6:24 amBecause regular Super Saiyan still appears in modern Dragon Ball content, like Daima. As for Heroes, I've been told that the version of SSJ4 that appears there is a new "Xeno" variant and not the old one from GT. The same goes for Super Saiyan Blue.

Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
My guess is that they want to focus on the stuff that Toriyama worked on, or whatever is current. GT ended almost 30 years ago.

What's actually a big deal here is that they didn't forget Super Saiyan 2 for once. And that's all that matters. Did this really warrant a thread, though?

Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
I highly doubt they will erase GT and SSJ4, even in Super Dragon Ball Heroes there are GT characters, forms and ideas.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot technically uses DBZ movie, it doesn't use the DBS movies. BoG and RoF are technically Z movies.

Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
It's relevant 'cause, despite being from a show that ended years ago, that form's impact was enough to keep it relevant in some way or the other. While I like the Daima version, the OG's popularity managed to outlive GT. I would've loved that form standing side by side with its new incarnation, that's all.SupremeKai25 wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 11:38 amYou mean videogames? Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
I guess Vegeta got erased as well since it only shows Goku. What a clickbait title. Jeez.
As long as they can make money from one of their IP's, they will continue making stuff from it. Hence the GT content in video games and such. And, as mentioned, the GT nostalgia in Daima.
BTW, that collage in general looks cheap as hell, with random poses and art styles mixed together.

I assume you would have also liked if Kid Goku from Daima stood side by side with Kid Goku from the OG? I did notice the absence of Kid Goku (Daima) from that poster, even though his gi's design is already so iconic.

Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
That sounds fun actually! Throw in there GT Kid Goku too why not? You'd get three eras of Toriyama's drawing style (round and chubby from OG Dragon Ball, bulkier with harder lines from GT, slimmer and streamlined from Daima)SupremeKai25 wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 1:40 pmAn interesting perspective I had not considered.SSGpotota wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 12:56 pmIt's relevant 'cause, despite being from a show that ended years ago, that form's impact was enough to keep it relevant in some way or the other. Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
GT hasn't been erased. The actress is simply advertising more current artwork of Goku for the event.
Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
This, no matter how people feel about GT as a show or the canonicity of it or whatever, a lot of the character designs are still badass and make for great action figures and trading cards and posters and shirts. Even if Toriyama literally went into Daima with the mindset of "I'm replacing GT", which he most likely didn't, the people in charge of the merch are still gonna wanna keep making stuff for GT as long as there's still someone that wants a GT SS4 Goku statue. Why wouldn't they?JulieYBM wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 6:44 am They're not going to stop selling Dragon Ball GT related merchandise. Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
People get stuck in these all-or-nothing mindsets about this stuff and it's really confusing to me. Like, I get it, immediate gratification is all they understand anymore, but like...go do something else? Get a life outside of your online fandom? When you aren't looking, that thing you want might just appear lolfunrush wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 10:01 amThis, no matter how people feel about GT as a show or the canonicity of it or whatever, a lot of the character designs are still badass and make for great action figures and trading cards and posters and shirts. Re: They slowly erase GT and OG SSJ4
The fact that Kid Goku and Super Saiyajin 4 were supposed to be the main draw to get people to watch Daima already shows they’re not forgetting about GT. They’ll keep selling GT stuff for a long time.
Just sit here and waste your precious time. When you want to do something, don't do it right away. Don't do it when you can. Read my posts instead. It's the only way to live a life without regrets.

In Dragon Ball Sparking Zero both SSB Gogeta and SSJ4 Gogeta are top tier characters.
