Dragon Ball Kai has begun airing in Israel

Post by Dragon Ball Ireland » Tue Apr 15, 2025 1:42 am

Not only that but a Hebrew dub has started airing, marking the first time Kai has been released in that language.

It started yesterday on a channel called Junior (which also airs Super) and based on these schedules it's airing around 4:15pm every day till Wednesday (the first 4 episodes will be rerun twice Thursday-Saturday, once around 11:45am-2pm and again from 4:28pm-6:30pm) with reruns till Friday around 1:10am and 12:25pm today and tomorrow.

No problem, I just spoke to someone who watched the first episode. Apparently it keeps the original Japanese version of Dragon Soul and the eyecatches (which is usually removed because in Israel they don't have ads between shows). The scene with Roshi being a pervert was supposedly cut.

I hear Piccolo has the same voice actor too, Raditz is different but sounds close enough to Liron Baranes. I've also been told Bulma, Chi-Chi, Kuririn/Krillin, Gohan and Roshi have been recast too.

It's great Junior is giving it so many timeslots, so fans will have a few chances to get several recordings.
  • Today - 1:18am, 12:30pm, 4:21pm and 6:39pm
  • Wednesday - 1:12am, 4:49am, 12:25pm, 4:15pm and 6:32pm
  • Thursday - 1:14am, 4:24am, 12:32pm, 12:55pm, 1:17pm, 1:37pm, 5:02pm, 5:24pm, 5:46pm and 6:09pm
  • Friday - 1:26am, 1:48am, 2:11am, 2:33am, 11:50am, 12:12pm, 12:35pm, 12:57pm, 4:36pm, 4:58pm, 5:21pm and 5:43pm
  • Saturday - 11:45am, 12:07pm, 12:30pm, 12:52pm, 4:28pm, 4:50pm, 5:13pm, 5:35pm, 10:59pm and 11:21pm
Seemingly they're airing the first 4 episodes this week.

Kinda strange were getting dubs of older content more often than Daima (which only has the English, Indian, Latin American and (illegitimate) Persian dubs so far). In just the last year there's been:
  • European Spanish dub of Kai
  • New Indian dubs of original Dragon Ball
  • Indian dubs of the Dragon Ball Z TV specials
  • Indian dubs of Battle of Gods
  • Danish dub of Super
  • Continuation of Super's Urdu dub
  • Greek dub of Super Hero (though you could argue that is a recent enough installment)
  • Now the Hebrew dub of Kai

Interesting.

Is the Hebrew dub of Kai done by the same company that did the Hebrew dubs of DBZ and GT, which is Videofilm International, Ltd. (וידאופילם אינטרנשיונל בע''מ)?

That's a good question. I'm not sure, but according to Videofilm's website they also dubbed Dragon Ball Super, so I guess its possible if they held on to the license all these years.

Don't forget there are also upcoming Catalan dub and Basque dub of Dragon Ball Super. Both are currently in production and expected to air respectively in TV3 and ETB during this year.

From what I understand is that Ami Mandleman, the original Hebrew VA of Vegeta came back and not the guy who replaced him for the last part of Super.

Did you find any clip with Vegeta?

By the looks of this week's schedules episode 8 will be the latest new episode, so it seems Junior TV will be airing 4 new episodes a week.

Hi guys!
The Hebrew dub of Kai dubbed Saiyan and Android saga.
I dont know how many episodes were dubbed because streaming service YES.CO.IL doesn't open. I think this dub is based on the Toei English translated scripts (In hebrew dub, vegeta says "its over 9000" instead of "its over 8000")

I found the dubbing credits on Facebook.
Dubbing studio is NDG Studios.
Cast: Amir Mandleman, Tzvika Shwartzber, Saar Badishi, Naama Shitrit, P. Peleg, G. Koren, D. Zohar, Yitzhak Friedlander, Eli Amir Weiss, Moti Edri, Avi Mannu Veir
Translation: Tomer Moshe
Dubbing director: Koki Silens, Yonatan Rokach

I heard the SSJ Kai scream and the scream was great better than the hebrew dub of z.
I don't know why, but isreal dbz fans dont like this dub

Looking at the current schedule episodes 71-73 are labelled as "New", so I guess this is as far as Junior has gone in Kai thus far.

It's great we have the dubbing credits.

On Thursday this week (November 13th) episode 98 will be broadcast followed by episode 1, so looks like Israel isn't dubbing The Final Chapters as of now.

It's just astounding that nearly every voice actor apart from Schemmel is able to nail Goku's voice somewhat perfectly.

As much as I strongly prefer Mario Castañeda, Schemmel is not THAT bad. Goku is also a comedic character and he does pretty great with that, and he also grew not only as a person and actor but as a fan. The only reason that mention of Son Goku's full name is there is because he insisted. I know that's too bare mininum but I appreciate it. He's good and he should only really lose the role of Kaio who he has consistenly ruined, sans one scene.

From what I've gathered from your posts it sounds like you have some beef with Schemmel that goes beyond his VA work (which I kind of understand, he has said some really really dumb and disrespectful shit to other Goku VAs). But while I don't think Schemmel is the definitive Goku by any stretch and much prefer Godesszawa, the claim that every other actor was able to nail Goku aside from him is just completely wild and a bit hyperbolic to me.

I'm not fond of Schemmel either but I can't deny the guy has improved. He's one of those who took Kai seriously as a chance to redeem himself from the Z dub and it really showed off.

Besides the guy is too iconic within the English-speaking fandom to be replaced. I'm pretty sure if they ever tried, the new voice actor would go through a bad time from hardcore fans.

I am fan of international dubs and I can confirm that there are actors from other dubs who were a complete miscast for Goku and way worse than Schemmel.
A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years :)

I don't. I just don't hear Goku, no matter how high-pitched he gets in every subsequent dub. He seems to not notice the subtle shifts in Goku's tone and attitude, despite being attached to that character for nearly three decades.

I must say, I literally grew up on the dub he was on and he was the Goku for me, aside from Kelamis. I used to actually prefer "Superman" Goku as a teen and would know a lot of his dialogue by heart, so I was most definitely a fan.

Aside from that, regarding him personally, he seems to have a bad attitude, which he's shown by barring Peter Kelamis from attending Kamehacon or whatever that Dragon Ball event was, for no reason at all, and he seems to a not-so-chill guy in general, but those are personal matters and it doesn't influence my opinion about his work. I'm sure there's better people than him out there for this role, but he won't let go.
