Y'know, at first, I really wanted a remake of the original 42 volumes of Dragon Ball as an anime. And I still do. But assuming this Super remake is real, I'm actually really on board with it. As much as some of us might hate retreading Super (especially after the first two arcs retreaded Battle of Gods and Resurrection F), this makes sense for business and creative reasons.
1. Remaking Super allows Toei (or whoever) to readapt the arcs with terrible animation with better animation, but it also gives them more content to adapt rather than starting with the Broly or Moro arcs. In fact, it gives them ten arcs - Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, Universe 6, Future Trunks, Tournament of Power, Broly, Moro, Granolah, Super Hero and the hypothetical Black Frieza arc. It also allows the Super manga to add more chapters while the anime retells Super.
2. With Toriyama's passing, some fans may have concerns about continuing Dragon Ball without him. Remaking Super allows Toei to ease people into an eventual Toriyama-less DB by readapting all the arcs Toriyama had a hand in. It also honors him by reanimating Super the way it should've been from the start.
3. If the rumors about it adapting the Super manga directly are true, this is genius. It puts Super alongside the original 42 volumes by having it be a literal manga-to-anime adaptation and makes things simpler by unifying both mediums. And like others have said, it allows new video games to adapt manga exclusive content like Super Saiyan Goku Black. It would also make the remake feel unique from the 2015 Super series.
4. Believe it or not, the original Super anime is now ten years old. For context, Hunter x Hunter had the '99 anime and twelve years later, got the 2011 anime remake. In just basically one year (by 2027), Super will have that same time gap. That means there's a whole new generation of younger fans or new fans in general who haven't seen it and wouldn't be caught up for the Moro and Granolah arcs. Remaking Super would get all the new fans on board in time for the newer arcs.
It's basically a "have your cake and eat it too" situation. So yeah, not exactly what I wanted, but I'd be fine with it. Also, with Dragon Ball Daima acting as a sort-of new "OG" Dragon Ball series with Kid Goku again, this Super anime remake would function as a new "Z" (especially if it's animated that way and maybe has Kageyama songs in it). And maybe the first episode of this possible new Super remake can recap all of OG and Z with better animation in a montage or something. So, in the end, I would still kind of get my Dragon Ball remake. Just not the way I wanted, but it works.
