2025-2026 Dragon Ball Z and KFC Collaboration

Post by Tian » Tue Dec 23, 2025 8:05 am

Lately, I've been stumbling across promos of a recent collaboration between Toei Animation and KFC for a Dragon Ball Z themed special menu available in some European countries.

This collaboration started out in late November and it will last until mid January 2026.

Image

This special menu consists of katsu sando sandwich (there's a spicy variant of it too), a teriyaki chicken bucket (also with a spicy variant) and seven cheese balls (I suppose they represent the Dragon Balls)

It is available in the following countries:
* Belgium
* Germany
* Hungary
* Italy
* Poland
*
Portugal

* Spain

So guys, what are your thoughts about this collaboration?

EDIT: Changed the topic title to avoid confusion with the KFC collaboration in Japan from some years ago.
A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years :)

KFC is a major fast food chain, so this once again just shows (in case anyone still had doubts) yes Dragon Ball is mainstream, and not just in English-speaking and Latin American countries.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula :thumbup:

Yeah, it's nice to see that Dragon Ball Z is still being considered for promotions with big fast food brands.

It's a pity that this promotion isn't available in Latin America. Even though KFC is getting more and more expensive here in Argentina, I'd have bought a combo for sure.

You guys should check out some of the commercials they did for these, they're pretty funny. They even used the Kikuchi score lol

It would be so cool if they brought this to North America. I would probably eat it for lunch multiple days in a row and then get sick of fried chicken. On second thought, maybe it's a good thing it didn't come here.... All this stuff looks yummy though and I would get a major kick out of eating KFC out of a bucket that has Goku or Vegeta on it.

Major kudos for the Kikuchi score. I wonder if the Faulconer score would be used despite not seeing use in years in USA.

If it makes you feel a bit better food ALWAYS looks tastier and prettier in commercials than it is IRL.

Due to the lawsuit between Faulconer Productions and FUNimation (and therefore, FUNimation not using the Faulconer BGM in almost all streaming releases of DBZ), it's unlikely that the Faulconer BGM will be used in a TV commercial of a DBZ fast-food tie-in.

Nice to see a KFC DBZ tie-in, though.

It's wild to see that particular stock image of Goku used, I haven't seen it in ages. I remember back in the 90's/early 00's, before Funimation was able to commission new renders, there were about five stock images used of Goku (including that one) that were always rotated between for every promo for the series you would see in those days.

I'm curious as to how this sort of thing manages to end up being a Europe-exclusive promotion. An American fast food chain and a Japanese production studio come together to release Japanese chicken in Europe!

This has that "DeeBeeZee" energy all over it, especially with it being based on the Saiyajin Saga!

These things appear to pop up randomly. Not too long ago Burger King was running a One Piece promotion with shirts being sold with meals in Ireland, and UK fans I asked had not seen it there.

Rumor has it the IP is mainstream in some island nation called Japan or something.

Joking aside, yeah I used to be one that said DB/anime isnt really mainstream but the past 5 years have really changed my mind!

DeeBeeZee is english ignorance of DB. I think this is actually respectful and accurate to DB to be DeeBeeZee.

Don't take this as me saying the collaboration looks "bad". It just oozes that early 2000s American DBZ vibe in my opinion.

That's absolutely true and I agree now.

I saw the Spaniard commercials since I speak Spanish it was on my recommended videos.

It seems it is an Europe Exclusive, by now. I really hope they bring them to America soon, I would totally buy the dragon balls and anything on the menu, oh yes.

BTW, please note how Goku is regular but Vegeta is Spicy :wink:

Available in Czechia as well, with ad running on TV with Kikuchi track from DBZ Movie 1.
Tried it of course, quarter of the order was missing, had horrid morning and recently, there is a case of Czechia KFC serving expired meat and other issues like in Denmark :lol:
Not to mention, I avoided KFC because they were using low quality chickens from monopoly owned by the communist prime minister… Dragon Ball never aired here, tho I have noticed few local fans replying on socials.
Funny country I live in.

But what you get besides japanified chicken meat, toast wrapped in Goku and Vegeta sleeve and box with the same image, swimming in teriyaki hence you can throw wvwrything away.

Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.
