"Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
My ranking is:
1) 23rd TB DLC
I've played that DLC as if it was a brand new game, and when going back to the actual game, I felt kinda disappointed. I've farmed so many Z orbs on that pre-Z era stages that it makes no sense.
It really is like its own game. I've spent hours playing it.
2) Bardock DLC
Probably the one I played the most sans the 23rdTB DLC, roaming a soon-to-be-destroyed planet really caught my attention. Going to other worlds to conquer was also very enticing.
3) Trunks DLC
I don't think it had that many things to do, but what really sold it to me was the destroyed cities, empty places, dead towns. I felt I was in that future. It was a nice bonus to fight Dabura, too.
I don't remember much of it because it's been like 4 years since I've played it, what stood out the most for me was the design of the stages.
4) BoG and RoF
I place them together because I don't really see many differences between them. Just farm, train and fight one guy till exhaustion. I guess the BoG DLC was more interesting because it introduced a brand new planet... although it's empty and not that different from Kaioshin's world.
I dropped the game by the time EoZ and Daima's DLC were released. I have been considering getting the Daima DLC to experience the adventure that Sparking Zero and XV2 cannot provide.
An EoZ DLC will always feel incomplete to me because a proper EoZ DLC should include a post-DBS Goku in it, one that could access every god form and technique.

That's exactly what I'd hate man lol ofc it 's a non issue that ultimately doesn't matter and all, but my autistic ass is gonna be like "how tf does Goku look the same in the 2 alt universes where he has 2 diff moms" it just adds this whole layer of weirdness that I absolutely do not want to deal withGrimlock wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 7:20 am hey, that means Seripa can still be Goku's mom in the TV Special continuity!![]()
Cuz like, if alt you had a different mother, you'd look completely different than you do now right? So in order for Goku to exist as we know him, it's gotta be Bardock + Gine, different versions of them sure, diff personalities, outfits, stories, whatever, but it's gotta be those 2
And before anyone says "but Goku and Bardock look the same so the mom doesn't matter" yeah they look strikingly similar, but Bardock obviously didn't straight up CLONE himself, they just look similar, it's just a stylized art style thing, no way he'd make the same exact kid with another woman

I honestly appreciate them waiting until a few days before to announce the release dates for the DLCs. A little nice surprise when they are.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

I am excited to play Daima part 2 in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. In part 1 Daima all my characters are level 250 and I got 250 Ultimate Sacred Water. I have 100 rainbow orbs and I got all the D Medals.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Since I bought DBZ Kakarot from the Hong Kong Nintendo eshop, it's already January 15th over there. Downloading the DLC right now as we speak. Will have to catch up with the last DLC since I kinda stopped playing it for awhile and start catching up.
It's going to take at least an hour to finish downloading.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Had it since midnight 24 hours ago, but fell asleep right after the first fight during the long cutscenes
Finally played the second part. This is where the story finally gets to the meat! I suppose I am somewhere in the middle of the basic gameplay, and I really like the cutscenes.
Outside of some missing bits, I enjoy the content more than the show itself to a degree. Daima anime was quite short and it was actually nice to spend more time in demon world and spend more time on various trivia than just a quick dialogue mention in the anime.
For some reason, I did enjoy the first part a bit more. The beginning was bit tedious and slow, but when it took the pace, I had fun with the side missions, exploring and having the sense of adventure without rush.
Part 2 dissapointed me a little, as it's treated as separate stories gameplay-wise. You start from the beginning with no carryovers, hence the Part 1 content after finishing the story is again just some low-effort hard training and leveling, so you can have few fights at levels around 200, but nothing much. I wondered if I should finish the Kadan challenges, hard trainings and finding the last Minotaur at first, but nah. After finishing the story and sidequest, you are free to toss the DLC away and jump in Part 2, where you are getting first-timer tutorials and start at level 80 with Goku.
Spending the whole Part 1 in the wasteland got old fast outside of story and the change of scenery made me happy.
It didn't last long tho, as the second demon world and it's lush greenery are two small maps and when you end up in the third, it's the same wasteland... but RED!
I do enjoy fighting as Vegeta for a change tho and overall, the party and fights are more fun than in the first part.
Can't wait to finish the story, see what they did and hope that there will be some fun after game content.
Then I will make my final opinion. But so far, I do enjoy it more than the TV series!
It didn't hit me when watching the show and still bit sour after the abrupt ending, but it feels like they were trying to toss aside Super and make "canon" GT/sequel to DBZ. For some reason, the ground running and no flying on smaller maps makes the game feel less empty and unpolished than in the main game, where you fly basically all the time and there were moments when I reacted like, whoa! It's not just this city avatar on the map below, but actually quite huge and up to scale city!
One major bummer on PS5! In the cutscene where they are going to board the ship and go to Warp sama, the characters and later the ship, are not rendered. I just saw Glorio's gun on his hip levitating above the ground and then, empty shot of the sky.
Did anybody encountered the same issue?

I finished part 2 Daima in 2 days and got everything 100% including getting all my characters level 250. I don't know why Piccolo wasn't a support or playable characters.
In the anime the characters can fly in Demon World 2 and 1, so I don't know why in the game we can't fly. It is bad that we can't use the characters as adults in free roam. In BoG, RoF and EOZ we gained those transformation and techniques into the main game, yet nothing from Daima went into the main game not even SSJ4.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
The Daima DLC mostly focuses on ground combat & there's not a lot of flying enemies, so having the characters be able to fly in free roam would be kinda pointless since you'd fly over everything you're meant to explore or challenge.super michael wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 8:00 pm I finished part 2 Daima in 2 days and got everything 100% including getting all my characters level 250. Also, I don't think the EOZ DLC gave us jackshit in the base game. You might be thinking of the Trunks DLC, which gave Trunks the added abilities from it in the base game.
I don't think it will. With the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai & EOZ DLCs, I was expecting things to transfer to the base game, but no dice. Same with the Bardock DLC not at least transferring over healing items from the base game. The Dark Knight wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 12:02 am I expect this will be changed with an update later this year, or at least I hope it will.

If I remember correctly in EOZ we gain Transcendent Kamehameha, which is a 5 star technique. There is Dragon Flash another 5 star technique. We gain those two techniques in the main game by beating the DLC.Scsigs wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 6:18 amThe Daima DLC mostly focuses on ground combat & there's not a lot of flying enemies, so having the characters be able to fly in free roam would be kinda pointless since you'd fly over everything you're meant to explore or challenge.super michael wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 8:00 pm I finished part 2 Daima in 2 days and got everything 100% including getting all my characters level 250. Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Finished this yesterday. My reservations from Part 1 have been cemented with Part 2. Unbelievably missed opportunity on the whole.
You'd think that with an RPG like Kakarot adapting an RPG-inspired miniseries like Daima, they would implicitly want to take full advantage of everything that series offers to produce a real standout adventure experience from that, or at least try their best. This was not that experience.
Now I'm just forced to imagine what a proper RPG of Daima would look like; one that doesn't lazily skip over a lot of the cool places they visit in the show, or expands a little on spots like Planet Kaishin, or includes a couple of extra activities like the zombie game or a kraken chase or literally anything that would put more variety on these maps, or at bare fucking minimum makes the second demon world somewhat explorable instead of reducing the entire thing to a bunch of cutscenes and a boss fight. Seriously, what? Tamagami 2's battle doesn't even have Vegeta's finisher, so you can absolutely tell they were cutting corners and rushing through all this to get to the Gomah fights.
Look, I enjoyed Kakarot for the 7/10 project it always has been. But maybe this is a sign that CC2 needs to stop slaving away with DLCs of this game at Bandai's behest and develop something they're more passionate about.
In the show, the characters spend almost no time in the first demon world's wastelands before they get to the Oparu District, yet the devs thought it would be a good idea to exclude areas like the fucking giants planet for that instead? Bollocks.
At least the combat in this expansion has been really good (a step up from the base game, I'd argue), so it's not the worst of the DLCs.

Flying free roam would have been perfect for the second demon world, even if you're just piloting a ship or something. The krakens could be that zone's enemies while the islands and maybe some mini planets would be used for on-foot exploration.super michael wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 8:00 pm In the anime the characters can fly in Demon World 2 and 1, so I don't know why in the game we can't fly.

Yeah, you can tell the DLCs are on a limited budget. There's also far too much talking and little fights in general. Goku vs Duu should have been a thing, and heck, it wouldn't bite them if we could play as Majin Duu against Tamagami 1 either.Mr Baggins wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 3:22 pm But maybe this is a sign that CC2 needs to stop slaving away with DLCs of this game at Bandai's behest and develop something they're more passionate about.
I also miss QTEs, at least they made cutscenes feel like a game instead of watching a movie. CC2 also had really cool ones in Naruto Storm 1-3 games and losing one would still reward you with a new animation of the boss winning, which was something cool to see.
I hope this is it for DLCs for the game and if CC2 wants to make new DB content we get a sequel, because it's the only way this game would feel fresh again.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
I really don't understand why they didn't add a "New Game Plus" option. Like, I appreciate the time machine to replay story segments, but I'd also love just going from beginning to end with everything unlocked & max leveled.super michael wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 7:10 am If I remember correctly in EOZ we gain Transcendent Kamehameha, which is a 5 star technique. Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread
Ok, I just finished the second Daima DLC outside of the last few sub stories & I'll say, it was good. Obviously, they left things out & changed things, but focused on the main plot from the show. I'll say, I love kid Vegeta's moveset when he's in the rush mode. He has a really fast & damaging combo string that's so much better than Goku's. When he becomes an adult again too, it's still great. Hell, the Final Flash when used against Gomah absolutely shreds his health down, but that makes that fight not last long, sadly. In terms of balance, most of the fights besides the boss fights are horde fights against the Gendarmerie, which are pretty easy. I never really had a problem dealing with them outside of my controller being partially broken & not allowing me to press down the RB button to have my teammates do powerful attacks easily, so I couldn't charge up for the team attack fast enough. The bosses are pretty good. However, Gomah is definitely a damage sponge & can deal out a lot of damage. Super Saiyan 4 also looked cool & I think is a cool form to use, but maybe isn't as powerful as it should've been. It kinda feels like it should be a power fantasy type thing rather than how it actually is.
Also, I really don't understand why we can't at least fly in the overworld in the post game. I get why not the main game, but the post game just seems really weird to keep it locked out of.
