What are your favorite Dragon Ball songs/soundtracks?
I figure since no one's updated this section for 2026 to fit with the other sections, I'd just make a post that brings it into the new year. So, on that point, what's your favorite song and soundtrack across different Dragon Ball media? I guess I'll say just pick ONE EACH from the ANIME, MOVIES, and GAMES. If not, pick more than one. And maybe, explain why they're you're favorites. For me, I guess I'll go with:
1. ANIME - As for songs, I'll go with DAN DAN KOKORO HIKARETEKU. Where do I even start? This song brings me back to 2007 as a 10 year old when I had a mini DVD player and the old Funimation GT singles. At the time, I didn't even really know Dragon Ball had alternate Japanese soundtracks. But out of curiosity, I switched the language from English to Japanese and was mesmerized by Dan Dan. Ever since then, I fell in love with the original Japanese version of anime songs. As for soundtrack, maybe THE STORM IS OVER from GT. I know, I'm biased to GT, but this soundtrack apparently plays right before Goku turns SSJ4 and the fact that he's willingly spending time with his family instead of fighting warms my heart, man. One of the comments on a YT video of the soundtrack even has Goku quote as saying, "I know I could be training right now, but I'm with family! Nothing beats that!" And before the purists come with "OUT OF CHARACTER FOR GOKU" and "THIS IS WHY GT SUCKS", I don't care at all. It's still a beautifully rare moment for Goku accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack.
2. MOVIES - When it comes to the movies, I'll actually pick an American soundtrack. I actually have nostalgia for the movie credits theme that played in Fusion Reborn. Then, there's Eternal Sacrifice from Z Broly, which should've been the English intro. And there's also Breaking Point - Phoenix and all the rock songs they got up until Broly: Second Coming, I think. And obviously, Blizzard from Broly. Then, there's the Japanese credits theme for Z movie 6. But if I have to pick one song, it'd probably be ETERNAL SACRIFICE and soundtrack would be the MOVIE CREDITS THEME Funimation used, strictly for nostalgia reasons.
3. GAMES - This one's much easier, but also harder in a way because there's so many good soundtracks from the games. But I'll say for soundtracks, CHALLENGERS from Budokai is my favorite and just iconic, I don't care if it's plagiarized from Hunting High and Low. As for song, I pick PROGRESSION from Raging Blast. That song is also tied to me getting a PS3 for the first time for Christmas back in 2009 along with Raging Blast (and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1). So, it has a lot of meaning to me for that. But also, it's just a powerful and uplifting song for Dragon Ball with Kageyama singing his heart out and the background chorus supporting him beautifully. I just love it. Also, the RB opening itself is so inspiring with Goku and Gohan getting back up after getting knocked down and the shading of the intro is just great to me.
So, that's it for me. Obviously, you don't have to write paragraphs like I did and can obviously answer this however you want, like picking more than one song and soundtrack. Also, I feel like the DB songs/soundtracks don't always get appreciated enough (ironic of me to say that despite literally posting this in the MUSIC section, though).

Soundtrack: I'm still living in the ethereal realm of Movie #5, The Strongest Guy in the World. There's something so creepy and haunting about the soundtrack. Warmer pieces like the Makafushigi Adventure instrumental and the Genki-Dama piece always brighten my day, too, but oh my god, I am in love with how big and all-consuming the Doctor Uirou tracks feel. You truly believe that Gohan and gang aren't going to get out of this one, gang, and I absolutely love that.
For songs, I'm still in love with Ultimate Battle. Bringing in Kushida Akira for an insert battle theme for Ultra Instinct Gokuu was such a cool way to tap into that "immediately recognizable audio cue" that I love so much about big hype moments in action-heavy anime. I truly hope that the next time we see Ultra Instinct return, Kushida's song accompanies it.

Okay, I now think the Hans Zimmer score from the announcement video might be up there. DEFINITELY UP THERE.
Re: What are your favorite Dragon Ball songs/soundtracks?
Dragon Ball never fails in the soundtrack department, therefore I cannot pick just one favorite. I love them all (Gotta Love 'Em All™!). That being said:
Also, I cannot submit this post without a major honorable mention, one of the best soundtracks of the entire franchise.

Re: What are your favorite Dragon Ball songs/soundtracks?
Hmm, it's really hard to pick just one of each. Right at this moment, some who have a special place are...
ANIME: Dream Tag Match from Dragon Ball Super. Could have been in a Kingdom Hearts final battle, ideal for a final go-all-out assault.
MOVIES: Hero (You're the Hero) from Dragon Ball Z movie 6. This ending song injects heroism into your heart during the chorus.
GAMES: Challengers from Budokai, so pumping and joyful and at the same time heroic-fight-inducing during the chorus, but I do hesitate with Final Decisive Battle in Burst Limit (the song that plays during the fight between Super Saiyan Goku and Freeza), so epic!

Re: What are your favorite Dragon Ball songs/soundtracks?
I've been really digging Movie 5's soundtrack lately, Kikuchi turned the Spaghetti Western influences up to 15 on that one. And I highkey like the dub version too lmao
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!
Cold World (Fanfic)

I know there's more DB songs I like, but without thinking too deeply, Background Music Collection vol 2 has:
one of my favorites; it's fun and fits the character so well, imo.05
