Y'know, I was wondering if they would do something similar to Daima's first trailer, which went through the years of Dragon Ball leading up to Daima's announcement. But what we got was infinitely better. Going through the literal pages and Toriyama's art before revealing Super is back. Just amazing.

WittyUsername wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 11:08 pm One Piece’s popularity in the states has been picking in the years since the 4kids dub ended, but I don’t know if it’s on the level of stuff like Dragon Ball and Naruto over here.
One Piece is at a level of fandom in the US that rivals Naruto, imo. The publishing of the manga & the uncut FUNi dub helped, as the 4Kids dub made it extra certain that never again would they censor the series or change its dialogue ever again when dubbing it (thank fuck. I can only imagine the unfortunate timeline where FUNi got it over 4Kids & that wasn't there to make sure FUNi could change anything in terms of the dialogue. 1 of the biggest strengths of the FUNi One Piece dub is how accurate it is to the original dialogue.
And, like someone else said, the Netflix series did a LOT to bring on new fans for the brand. It was talked about for a while after it came out because of how good it was. With the anime also being on Netflix, I assume a lot of people started watching the anime after they finished the live action series. 2020 also allowed more people to get into it, since a lot of people found themselves with a lot of free time on their hands due to COVID.
It took a bit of time because Toei & 4Kids fucked it up the first time, but the franchise is pretty big over here.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

"an. 25, 2026 (JAPAN) - Today, at “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri”, an event held at Makuhari Messe in Japan to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball, it was announced during the opening stage, “Exclusive Announcements! GENKIDASTAGE Part 1,” that the newest arc in the franchise, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, is officially set for production. Stay tuned as Dragon Ball continues to reach new heights!"

"Today, at “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri,” the Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary event being held at Makuhari Messe, Ms. Masako Nozawa, voice of Son Goku, and Mr. Akio Iyoku, the Executive Producer of the Dragon Ball series, attended the opening stage entitled “Exclusive Announcements GENKIDASTAGE Part 1.” There, a surprise announcement was made about the production starting for Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol."

"This will be the story following the “Universe Survival Arc” of the anime Dragon Ball Super, which aired between 2015 and 2018. It also appears in the manga Dragon Ball as the “Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc.” The main character, Son Goku, and Vegeta, work together with the members of the Galactic Patrol, the peacekeepers of the galaxy, to begin a SUPER scale battle against a new enemy, “Planet-Eater” Moro!"

I wonder if Anime-only aspects like the Kaioken will appear, as they clearly went out of their way to make a point about this following the anime, rather than being its own thing.

I think it'll be a limited 20-25 episode arc like Daima was, which is how I think the franchise will continue moving forward; limited length arcs every couple of years.

Well at least I have one good thing to associate with January 25th
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I think it's a great idea. It gives the manga more time to continue (which I think will happen in some way) and more time for the production to work on something visually refined. Modern Dragon Ball works very well as a seasonal anime.

By the way, I loved the new logo. The darker tone worked really well!

The decision to animate Moro was made before Toriyama passed, and he even approved some changes that will only appear in the anime.

The very beginning, with the original panels from the first arcs, was beautiful.

I particularly liked the timeline they created for the modern Dragon Ball projects (from Battle of Gods to now). I think everything fit together very well that way.

It's also interesting how they skipped Super Saiyajin 2 and 3 in Goku's transformation scene in the trailer, following the progression we saw in Dragon Ball Super Broly.

I think it will follow the anime. Watching the teaser again, I realized that they only used illustrations of the designs that Toriyama had drawn for the Super anime.

It only makes sense. It is its own thing, but also the sequel we've been all waiting for.

It'll be very refreshing to watch an arc of Dragon Ball Super with a healthy production timeline. It's still unbelievable how the original run never took a season off considering how chaotic it was behind the scenes.

Apparently, the illustration of Kefla in the teaser is an unreleased drawing by Toriyama.

Nozawa confirmed the Moro arc will be an anime, not a movie.

There's so many Toriyama designs we haven't seen before in that trailer, all of the Super Hero and Daima ones too, the Broly ones as well, and a few from Super
